Selena walked through the forest, not paying much attention to the vegetation she was crushing underneath her strong hooves. She didn't have any specific place to go to, no where she wanted to visit. All the Soquili she had been passing seemed too busy grazing, and she did not recognize any. She hummed her favorite song, but with little enthusiasm. And even Lurnu's jokes slowly became annoying. She was bored. Lurnu noticed that Selena's eyes had become glazed, so he stopped talking. She knew she couldn't hear it from where she was now. In her own world. Now he switched his attention to watching for trees she might hit. So he flew onto her head and landed on her forehead and watched. His ears flicked every so often behind him where a rabbit or fox had rustled the leaves.
The day was quiet. No wonder they were both bored.

Glissando walked stiffly through the forest path. Being in the large herd that his parents were both part of... was starting to become grating. He felt positively smothered by the constant presence of relatives. It was like being trapped up to your neck in mud. He felt suffocated and mired. Was there any way out, short of just disappearing one day?
Even if he did just disappear they would probably come and find him, he reflected sourly. There was just something in them that they couldn't understand him... couldn't understand his need for something greater. He, for one, didn't want to live the same boring lives as they did. Grow up. Have children. Raise them in the herd. Grow old.
It was the same old and he couldn't stand it. It was because of his preoccupation that he didn't notice the other mare on the path until he had practically knocked into her. "Watch where you're going!" he snapped.

Lurnu flutters up above Selena's head in shck. he had not noticed the stallion there, had he fallen into his own dream world as well...? He did remember bananas. There were no bananas here, he must have been dreaming. Oh dear, how could he have stopped paying attention to his duty? What if Selena had stumbled and hurt herself? His mind ran wild. He tugged at Selena's ear to wake her, it worked.
"Im sorry sir, it seems that we both dazed off into space..." he said nervously. the stallion looked mean.
Selena blinked, she didn't like having her ear pulled. Lurnu must have been on her head again. Also something she didn't like. "Don't pull my ear twit!" She grumbled, still not fully back to reality.
Then when she saw the stallion standing there she realized the problem. "Sorry, must have dazed off. My bad." She said in a bored tone, not really being true about her apology. She began to walk further along the path she had been on before. Now her destination being the mountains.

Gliss looked over his shoulder at the mare as she continued to walk on. She apologized quickly enough, even the bat fluttering around her apologized. Something about her manner, though... there was something distinctively dismissive in the tone that took away the contrition in the words.
"No problem. Nice hat," he sneered sarcastically at her back. He had a disdain for soquili who wore human garb. No one in his family did and he didn't see why anyone else should either... not that his family was always the peak of soquili culture, in his mind. It just seemed ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous, which perhaps made it fitting for such a rude mare. Behind him, his feathered tail fanned out pretentiously. He would never sink so low as to decorate him like a human.

"Thank you" she sneered right back. She didn't like his tone. She never turned her head though, just kept walking. She wanted to see if her would start a fight. Up atop her head she could hear Lurnu whispering frantically that she shouldn't start a fight, he would be the one getting hurt. She shook her head and dismissed hims words.
She flicked her tail, hitting the stallion's nose like a small whip, then she turned her head and glared at him. "I stole it, and if you were wondering I wear it for one and only purpose, to keep the damn sun out of my eyes. As for the handkerchief, it has its own purpose." She spat.
Lurnu started to fly into a nearby tree. "Oh, dear oh dear me!"

Glissando's head jerked back disproportionally far for the strike that had been given him. That mare... she had the nerve to hit him? Now his feathers weren't flared, they positively puffed with indignation. If that dingy creature meant to insult him he wasn't going to stand for it.
"I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that you stole it." Even his posture practically oozed disdain for the mare before him. "But you shouldn't be so close to the lands of my herd if you have such a low character. We don't tolerate low lives like you." Big words, but not entirely true. The alpha of the herd was his great grandmother and she was the biggest softy in all of the soquili lands. She'd probably tolerate anything short of murder... though Glissando wasn't exactly about to let onto that fact.

Selena turned. This stallion had interested her. She was not was big or as strong as him. But she could kick. Rockstar would know. She could also run, run fast if needed to, and her strong legs could sometimes even allow her to fly is she had enough tension built up. She smiled wickedly at the fool.
"I had to steal this, along with all the other things I have stolen to survive. When one is a foal and is in an unknown land, they steal, they steal food and other essentials. And I was in that situation so I used my instincts."
She stepped closer to him, her legs tensed slightly. "And I dear sir, am not a low life. You may think of me as you will, but I believe that judging a book by its cover is a habit only true low lives and idiots," she spat the word, "Posses. Now if I am on your herds land, you could have politely said so and escorted me off." She sneered.

"Maybe I will escort you off," he sneered right on back. "I certainly cannot expect one such as you to be able to see herself gone." His speaking fell into a more formal tone. Though it wasn't entirely conscious, it was his habit to use more formality when he was annoyed. Somewhere in him he liked the idea of talking down to people. It was just another way of showing how he felt for them.
He jerked his head in a direction off the path. "So start going that way, if you would be so kind, thief." If news of his behavior got back to Vara then there would be trouble... but how would she find out about this? As long as the mare didn't sneak back to the herd and rat him out Gliss knew he could treat her how he liked. Besides, even if the rest of the herd might not care if she was nearby, he found her presence rather distasteful.

Selena looked down in the direction he had pointed. It lead to the plains. She didn't want to go to the plains, too much sun for that today.
"Sorry, but if you wouldn't mind feather boy, I would much prefer to go down that way," she motioned with her head, behind her, "Down to the mountains."
She smiled at him. He was horrible. But she liked the way he acted, never showing a sign of backing down or wanting her to stop her rudeness. It felt like the old days, where she had to rely on her wits alone to get out of a situation like this. Though she didn't want to be out of this situation. It felt good to spit at a Soquili and make them feel horrible. She felt like her old self. And it was a surprisingly good stress reviler.

"Too bad, Thief." She had given him no name, so Thief would be what he'd call her. Surprisingly like Selena, Gliss had begun to have a good time too. He didn't like the stiff, sappy conversations that the rest of his herd seemed to enjoy. It was nice to be able to cut loose for once, not have to be worried about who might hear about it or say something.
"If you attempt to go anywhere but towards the plains then maybe I'll have to repossess those grungy rags of yours." He gave her hat a look and then smiled back at her. "Do you really think that you and your... creature could stop me?" It wasn't Gliss' intention to get into a real fight... but that wouldn't stop him from talking like he might.
Maybe he could intimidate her into going the other way. He liked the idea of that... He never got to attempt to intimidate anyone while hanging around with the herd.

Selena cackled. "Rags you say?" She turned on the tip of her hoof and was now stomping towards him, "His Rags have more value and have gone through more than you can imagine!" She was now starting to get angry, "They have more value then your feathery tail!" She was face to face with him now, their noses were almost touching. She spat onto the forest floor.
"And I am in no manner going to plains with the likes of you, birdy, I will go with my BAT and walk down this path towards the mountains. Whether you escort me or not." She turned right around, whipping Gliss's nose with her tail once more, this time with much more strength, leaving a sting on his soft skin.
If it was a fight he wanted, she would be happy to grant his wish.

"HEY!" Glissando had a very small and very specific tolerance for insult... and the mare had just blown right through it. His nose and pride both stung.. and that mare was going to pay for it. With a kick off the ground and a few bounds he had cut in front of her on the path, nostrils flaring and eyes narrowed.
"Where do you think you're going, Thief?" He planted his hooves solidly on the ground and drew himself as tall as he could. "If you want to go anywhere, you'll have to get past me."

Selena narrowed her eyes at the stallion. She bared her teeth slightly as well and smirked. "Well aren't you CUTE?" She said with a snarl. She had just about enough of him. "Are we gonna play Hero? Herd's Protector? Don't you dare play games with me feather but!" She sneered. She tensed her legs. She could feel the muscles screaming, telling her to release the tension. Soon.
She started to run at him a little, and when she was only about 5 feet away, or less, she reared up. Now she was taller. Now she was stronger. Now she could hurt him. Badly. She kicked and waves her front legs in the air. Above his face. She blew angrily from her nostrils.
"You are in my way." She jumped over him, almost hitting his face with her back hooves. And she landed far from him. The distance she had made with her low jump was impressive, not many could do it. She kept walking.
If it had not been for the fact that Selena called his name after she had jumped the stallion. He would have fainted. "Your so reckless Sel, you will get someone hurt..." he mumbled, but flew after her.

Growing up in a relatively kind and peaceful herd, Gliss hadn't had the chance to be exposed to much in the way of violence and aggression. His experiences in the occasional bullying of his family had mostly resulted in them slinking off, not any sort of fight. It was because of this that when the strange mare reared at him he suddenly found himself completely uncertain of what to do... and more than a little intimidated.
With a gasp, Gliss ducked and backed away from the aggressive mare. With his head low and eyes wide he watched her begin to walk away. Even the strangers he had bullied hadn't ever reacted like that. No one had. No one had ever treated him like that.
For a moment all he could do was watch her leave. No one had ever treated him like that.
No one.
Intimidation changed into something darker inside him. His ears flattened against his head and his eyes narrowed once more. No one had ever treated him like that.. and he wasn't about to start letting them. Without even a word of warning he bounded after her. Reaching with his teeth he lashed out towards her tail, hoping to grab it and maybe pull out some of her white curly hair.

Selena knew he would come after her. When she first saw him, after she came out of her daze, she saw that he was strong. He was well built but she could also see that he had not experienced much of life's pain. Life's cruelty. Not much at all. not like she had. She had to fight to survive most of the time, so she knew how to act when threatened. Sometimes you run, other times you fight back. You need to have a reputation, a knowing of your own abilities as well. You have to know what you can take down, what level you can match up to, and which you can't. This stallion was below her level. He was talk. He obviously wasn't looking for much a fight, he just wanted to scare her off. Well, he had chosen the wrong mare to pick on. Way wrong.
Selena listened to Lurnu fuss about how she shouldn't have been reckless or rude. She didn't listen. Her ears were working towards another goal. They flicked backwards when she heard what she knew was coming. The stallion's hooves running. She smiled to herself.
When she could hear him close to her she turned around. Fast. One moment she was facing north, the next, due south. Right infront of the stallion. He was still running, but he saw that she had turned around. Her eyes darted towards the half dead tree she noticed while walking on the path a few seconds ago. She knew it would come in handy. With one swift kick she knocked it down. It fell down it dust, and dirt, creating a huge cloud in the air. She could see the stallion any longer, he couldn't see her.
The tree divided them, and it was still groaning from the sudden attack. She may not have been able to see him, but she could still hear his heavy panting from when he was running. She knew exactly where he was. Now she was on top. He couldn't see her, he was a bit out of breathe, and that gave her his exact location.
"Game on." She whispered.
