Yes, the Puggle. A "designer dog;" hybrid between a beagle and a pug. Very adorable, and I do declare much more adorable than that disgusting wheezy pug (God I hate those dogs...) They're mutts that I can probably get at the pound for 98 dollars, and these yuppy idiots are wasting thousands of dollars on them. If they want adorable "designer dogs," they can go to the local animal shelter and get an adorable one-of-a-kind dog all for their very own, but noooooo, they have to waste their money on mutts that everyone's going to have and then they'll go out of style like the poor labradoodle. Then who's going to love their puggle while it's out in the kennel and they're playing with their new "designer dog" that they love so much, until the next one comes out. Dogs are not meant to be a fad! Grr! *ahem* I think I'll stop ranting now... What's your take on the idea of a dog as a fashion statement?

Whats wrong with teh pugs? They're cute. I love 'em. ninja
However, I do agree with you on the fact that many people regard animals as toys to be played with, and thrown away when they're out of style. I still think that the labradoodle is cute, though. whee
Dogs aren't fashion statements. It's like saying a boyfriend is something to make your outfit look cute.

My cousins knew a guy who had a beautiful golden retriever, that was a great dog, and cost them a lot, and they got rid of it because they'd redid their house, and it didn't match the carpet. stressed

Didn't match the carpet...? You can't be serious. People are that stupid?! Dye the dog's fur of course! *totally just kidding* 4laugh

Pugs are annoying and yappy little dogs that have breathing problems because of that hideous birth defect they call a face. I'm sorry, but any dog that has a face like that is just ugly. Cats with pushed in snouts don't look quite as deformed though... I wonder why?

It's what my cousin said, and she's not the type to lie.

I always thought pugs were adorable. Maybe it's because I loved Milo and Otis when I was little. Maybe it's not, but anyway, in my opinion pugs are cute.

0-o You're posting about hating a type of animal on an animal-lover's guild? Interesting. And it's not their fault their faces look like that; they didn't choose it. Don't hate something because of how it was born.

I'm also getting the feeling that you watch VH1's Best Week Ever....

I do, however, think celebrities with their animals fads are disgusting. Though I find a lot of things they do disgusting. Some normal people, however, also treat animals similarly. Many animal shelters stop selling black cats around Halloween, because of people who will buy them for sacrifices or as party decorations. People need to understand that purchasing an animal is like adopting a child. You bought it so you can care for it, not so you can get a thrill off of having it for a short while.

And Lupine Pyrefly, if I knew someone like that ex-retriever owner, I would never speak to them again. 0-0 That is truly scary. Or I'd ask him if he'd give his relatives or himself away, if they didn't match the house.

They....WHAT?!?
I want to smack those people around. Not that I will. But I really want to. evil
As for Sarasan, I wish you would look a little deeper than the surface. Don't judge a book by it's cover, don't judge a dog by it's face. 3nodding

I've tried liking those dogs, but I can't... They're just too... I don't know... I like dogs like Great Danes and Saint Bernards or some kind of retriever. I like big dogs with pointed or boxed faces. To me, pugs are just too flat-faced and drooly. Everyone must have something about an animal that they just don't like. I love animals, I just love these animals from afar. xp

And yes Lady_Nekochan,. I did watch VH1's Best Week Ever. It's like, the first time in ages, but Im kinda glad I did. 3nodding

I thought so. ^^ And, you can't call pugs drooly, yet like Saint Bernards. They are some of the most prolific droolers of the dog world, if they aren't the most prolific. xd

Yeah... I've never evn been near a St. Bernard. But our old Dog- she was part Great Dane and part black labrador- she was a drooler. A great dog, but I hated when she'd jump on my bed. 3nodding See, my dad hates small dogs, he calls them yappy and high-strung. So the only small dogs I know belong to campers in the campground. There's a pug that belongs to one of the yearlies... God I hate that dog. It snaps and growls and drools and barks and makes that nauseating wheezing sound that is a telltale sign that it has many breathing problems because pugs are bred to look like their owners smashed their faces against a brick wall when they first exited their mothers' womb... And there's a little yappy Dacshund that deserves to have a laryngectomy... Little f***er never shuts up! I hate dogs that bark alot. They're cute to look at, but I'd boot 'em if they were mine. Like Jynx, our oldest dog as of today. Love her to pieces, but she barks at her own shadow and has already barked at a stump, a tree, and a rocking chair in her 5 years of living. To say the least, she's really annoying. Especially since we're in a service business, and there's a lot of little kids in the campground on any given weekend. If she gets out and starts barking and chasing a little 6-year-old, we'll have a lawsuit on our hands and have to put Jynxie down... I don't understand it though... We've done our best from the time we got her to keep her from barking, but no matter what we do she yaps and barks and sometimes even snaps at houseguests.

Well, dogs are just like people in that they have their own personalities. Have you ever met a person that just didn't know when to shut up? Some dogs are the same way.... xd and I agree, most of the overly vocal dogs seem to be smaller breeds. I say this comes from them trying to compensate for their siz, whether they're aware of it or not. And I've also seen the same with the smaller ones being meaner and snappier. Then again, I've also met small dogs who were some of the sweetest things in the world, and larger dogs that were rather irritating.

Great danes are famous for being really sweet, so it makes sense that your mix is so lovable. ^^ I love larger dogs because they don't seem to realize how big they are. And their very huggable. Our dog is a large yellow lab/golden retriever mix, and he's the most innocent dog I've ever met. Then again, I've also met some Australian sheepdogs that were so yappy it was frightening. o-o I think they fall more under the medium dog than the large dog category, though. They're my grandfather's. One of them is okay, but I swear sometimes (most of the time) that the other one's insane.

lol! We had this one rottweiler-bull mastiff mix. She was a huge dog, and she was so protective of my Nana! Whenever she'd start 2-stepping in the living room with my dad, she'd start growling and raise her haunches. I laughed when I saw it! And Ruby, our puppy, is a golden retriever-rotty mix. She's 6 months old and already as big as our 5-year-old black lab-border collie(I think...) mix. And she's convinced she's a lap-dog! If you're sitting in the living room she will do everything in her power to jump up onto your lap. She tried jumping onto my bed one morning when she was smaller and able to jump 3 feet into the air like a flea... That ended abruptly the minute her face somehow collided with my foot... ninja

Edit: No, I didn't kick her in the face. I just put my foot up to try and kick at my dad who was coaxing her to jump up onto my bed, she jumped at the wrong time.

XD We had a dog once who weighed about 50+ pounds, and she thought she was still a tiny puppy. She loved to plop her bottom right on my lap. xd She was a springer spaniel, but she was larger than any others I've seen. I'd say the poor girl came from a puppy mill, considering her physical appearance and some health problems. Puppy mill owners should all be locked in cages, along with the animal-trend celebrities.

My dog's too old to try much leaping up and down places. His arthritis barely lets him jump in and out of our car. He does, though, dance around on his feet and leap on his back legs when he's excited. He doesn't really get off the ground, but it's cute. I've affectionately nicknamed it, "pony-prancing," because that's what it resembles...a prancing pony.

Our Dog used to do that! Oh I miss her so much... I think I'm finally cracking that code to our scanner... I don't understand it! mad
