The setting for this thread is along the eastern beach of Professor Gum's island. You can RP things happening on the ocean about fifty feet from shore, on the sands of the beach itself, and a little ways back from the beach. Anything farther away than that really doesn't belong here, unless it's only going to last a single post.

This thread is open for all to post in, but you are expected to follow a few rules... These are, of course, subject to changes and additions if I feel the need. I'm sure that we can all play nice, though. Right?

  • Keep your Poke-Talk out of this thread. It's just as bad as chatspeak. Sure, you can assume they're speaking that way, but type the translation only in this thread. You can understand them. Or, if you want, you don't have to understand them. Your pick.
  • This RP thread will not require or enforce the Battle Formula. Period. Don't whine if someone won't use it here, because they don't have to.
  • If someone doesn't want to battle you, stated by an OOC request. Respect that, and leave them alone.
  • Likewise, if you do want to have a battle with someone, don't drag others into it that hadn't planned on being involved.
  • You godmode, I godmode back. You will not be pleased.

-------------

Early morning, the sun had just begun its ascent into the sky. The low tide gave access to quite the treasure trove of discarded sea shells and tiny sea life, scattered amongst the sand and trapped within shallow pools awaiting the rise of the tide. It would come shortly, and those able could swim out to freedom once more.

A few of the Krabby, however, would unfortunately be spending their last morning walking the beach.

A small Shadow Ball darted across the sands and straight into one of the crabs, which promptly tumbled across the sand and lie still. Be it dead or stunned, the attacker hadn't hesitated to advance and leap upon his prey.

Daikirai crunched through shell and lapped at what meat ran free. The only thing that would make this better would be fire, he could kill and cook all at once.

Though, he certainly liked this new attack better than a mere Tackle. Would he say so? Of course not. Either way, it was doubtful that his trainer wouldn't take notice of just how much he was putting the skill acquired from the TM to use.

Said trainer was several yards away, a distant stare aimed toward the horizon. He inhaled deeply, taking in the scents of the ocean air. This was nice... Peaceful.

Depressing, but peaceful.

Prying his eyes from the sea, Yuki looked over toward where he'd last seen his Pokemon. Sure enough, the Eevee wasn't far off. Yuki grimaced lightly at the ruthless treatment of the local shellfish, but on the other hand at least he didn't have to worry about breakfast.

"Money well spent, I suppose." He muttered to himself, slowly and absently walking in the Pokemon's direction.

The beach was looking very inviting on this moring, and poke had been working so hard letely, that she was looking for a chance to get away for a while. Since she had started work as an assistant, she had been learning so much about pokemon it wasn't funny. Her main job though was to take care of any pokemon that came to the lab, and Assist in reasearch done by the professor. And most of the time, she was also keeping an eye out on the kids, who somehow managed to get into all sorts of trouble

But none of that now. She was sitting under a tree, and she was not going to think about for a dam long time. So she focused on the krabby that were scuttling along. Untill she saw a shadow ball fly across her vision and smash into one crabby.

"What the..." she stood up, and watched as none other then a eevee, a shiny one to boot, had jumped onto the krabby and proceded to eat it. This was to weird. For starters, eevee were much more playful thant his, and they usualy didn't learn shadow ball. And another thing, it had just killied a random pokemon. Sure, she was aware that some pokemon preyed on others, but it was a rare sight to see.

She took a few steps closer to the eevee, in hopes of getting a better look at it. Was it wild? did it have a trainer? she wasn't sure.

Also looking for a small escape, Blade had found himself on the sandy shores in the morning. There was a limp in his step, and his left arm remained in a sling for the time being, but he wasn't planning on doing much aside from trying to relax anyway. He was sure his pokemon would enjoy the warm sun as well.

With a sigh, he glanced around, finding that he wasn't the only one there that day. A short distance away was Poke, who stood what appeared to be an odd looking eevee.

Blinking, he peered at the pokemon, only to realized it was a shiny. Talk about a rare sighting. For a moment he thought he was seeing things too. Shaking his head to himself, he slowly made his way towards it, glancing towards Poke in the process.

"A shiny... that's not something you see everyday.."

Making quick work of the first, the Eevee licked at his maw and had set sights on another close by. It seemed to realize as well, for it gave a start and swiftly scuttled into the waves.

~Hmph.~ He grunted. Oh well, there were others scattered about the beach.

Daikirai's ears perked suddenly, at the sound of someone treading in the sand. It was not his trainer, but lighter. The Eevee spun around, in turn facing Poke. The Pokemon gave a shrill growl and bared its teeth. He found himself to be perfectly threatening, but the fact that he was an Eevee made it hard to intimidate the humans. He'd learned this already.

~Stay back!~ He barked, just for good measure.

Witness to what had just happened, Yuki picked up the pace in order to try and distract his Pokemon from any thoughts on mauling the young lady's shins. "Hey! Whoa!" He called, "Sorry about that, he's a mean little fuzzball."

No sooner could he approach the two, a second stranger had set his sights on them. "If they're all like this one," He pointed a finger toward Daikirai, who had shifted his threatening pose to Blade, "Count your blessings."

"yeah, I wonder where it came from..."

Poke was about to ask blade how his enjories were going, when the eevee turned around and started to growl. Poke immedately backed up holding her hands in a defensive position before seeing a man run towards them.

"Oh, is this your eevee?" she enquired, looking at the pokemon as it now growled at blade. It really seemed quite agressive...

"that is a intruiging eevee you got there, how did you find it? oh, and I'm poke by the way" she decided to introduce herself there.

Catching some movement out of the corner of his eye, Blade looked up to see a man rushing over to the scene. There was a slight sense of disappointment, to find out the shiny eevee had a trainer. Then again, noting the attitude of the pokemon, maybe that was a good thing.

Glancing down as the little pokemon growled at him, he blinked. The eevee may have tried, but he just didn't seem all too intimidating. Shaking his head to himself, he turned his attention back towards the stranger. He shifted his weight, as the messenger bag at his side carried the two eggs he had with him.

"Can't say I envy you much in this case," he started before going ahead an introducing himself after Poke, "and I'm Blade."

The question of his ownership gained a nod in response, "Yeah, he's mine." Glancing down to the Pokemon, he smiled awkwardly, "Haven't had him long, I'm new to this whole Trainer thing..." It probably showed, he thought, surely most Trainers didn't have such aggressive Pokemon.

"I caught him during the last full moon, actually." Yuki shrugged lightly. "I didn't really realize he was any different until I got a better look at him the next morning." All Yuki had seen of Eevee were images in books and photographs, up to that point at least. "It makes me wonder if there's something wrong with him."

The Eevee snorted, likely in response to his Trainer's last statement. Still hungry, and growing bored with the three of them when they'd barely shown fear to his threats, Daikirai trotted a little ways off to continue his hunt for Krabby, or any other marine edibles he could find.

Yuki watched him go, before turning his attention back to the other two Trainers. "Yeah, looks like I've got my work cut out for me..." Upon their introductions, he smiled lightly. "Name's Yuki, and the Eevee is Daikirai." The first two he'd met who'd actually seemed to give him the time of day, and even if it were just because of the Eevee he didn't mind.

"So, I guess you guys have your Pokemon stashed away?" He asked, a bit sheepishly. "I can't seem to keep Daikirai in his Pokeball." Carefully, he shrugged a bag off his shoulders. "If I may be so bold, maybe you can educate me on something."

The drawstring bag was small, and obviously not meant to carry all of the supplies of a traveler. That one, he'd left at the Inn. "Just recently I was given a Pokemon Egg to care for. Aside from keeping it cushioned and warm, I'm not entirely sure what to do with it." As he spoke, the bundled blanket was removed from the bag, and the Egg just barely uncovered. Barely, as to keep the warmth from escaping in the cool morning breeze. "I guess I'm doing the obvious, but... I don't exactly have a woman's maternal instinct." He looked to Poke, unlikely pointedly, as his glance shifted to Blade as well for a response from either of them. While still strangers, they were speaking to him, and Yuki was ready to wager that they were a lot more experienced with these creatures than he was.

[Hope it's alright for me to assume that there's some sort of lodging on the island. XD]

Blade watched as the Eevee wandered off to terrorize some of the wild pokemon in the area, then turned his attention back towards Yuki. While he had his share of some trouble-pokemon in the past, he didn't really know of anything that would really fix an attitude problem.

"For now; but I was about to let them out to enjoy the beach as well."

He was about to suggest something about Daikirai, but the subject of the egg came up. The thief's eyes drifted over to Yuki's bag before looking at his own. There were so many eggs at the pokemon center that he supposed he shouldn't be surprised to run into a stranger who cared for one as well.

"Ah I have two myself. It's hard to know how to care for it without knowing what's inside... Personally I just stared at mine until stuff came to mind. I felt that one needed to be kept hot and in darkness and the other should be kept around sharp things... like knives and scissors and the like."

Realizing how far fetched the second statement was, he shook his head. He wondered, himself how he came to that conclusion. But that was just what happened.

"Call it crazy... but that's just what came to mind for me."

[hell yeah XD]

"Actually, I do have "one" pokemon...kinda" at this she pointed to the tree she was under, where a large backpack was sitting.

"I thought it was high time that I started training my own pokemon, and I wasn't quite sure what to start with, so the professor gave me a egg." At the mention of daikari and pokeballs, she looked back at the eevee. "yeah, some pokemon really dislike pokeballs, so they refuse to go in them. It depends on the pokemon and it's personality. Some are a bit clostrophobic, while others are....rebelious" she chose the word carefully.

poke listened when yuki started to describe what he had so far done to take care of the egg, and then to blades suggestion as well...untill he mentioned that he had made a nest of knives.

"ah....thats a....interesting way to take care of a pokemon egg" she paused and then wondered if he was trying to raise a steel type pokemon. When yuki looked at her as if suggesting she was a expert on babies and eggs, she laughed nerverously. " ah....hold on a sec"

she ran back to the tree where she had left her bag, and then pushing away a krabby who was trying to get at what was inside, she ran back to the other two.

"Alright, lets see what I have here.." she opened up the backpack, revealing her egg in the middle. "I took some of these items from the lab in hopes they'd be of use" and opened op the side patched on it, and took out a few objects.

"umm a few thermometers to keep it's temperature, some beanies to keep it warm...or mabye keep it looking cool, stickers...those are amy's.... some food, that would be mine....more blankets... ah! this is what I want" She pulled out a small book.

"Taking care of pokemon eggs! " poke proclaimed. "..for dummies" she started flipping through the book. "right, keep egg with you as much as possible, as it grows faster, keep it warm...we all know that...kangaskan and chancey are good at taking care of eggs...well we don't have any of those avaiable....ah!" She paused. "the pokemon's personality can be effected, by how the trainer takes care of the egg." She looked at the book again, and then (sweatdrop) mentioned. "It also has a warning that pokemon eggs do not make good omlettes..."

Well, he was very lucky to meet these two, it seemed. Both of them had apparently answered the Pokemon Center's call for Trainers. Briefly, he quietly wondered if they had been there when he was. There was such a crowd, he was more focused on not looking at people in order to avoid eye contact. That wasn't a problem this morning, though.

He'd nodded lightly in response to Blade's suggestions, and didn't show any visible hint of finding the second weird. If anything, Yuki was a little envious that the man had come up with such specific means of care, strange or otherwise. "Well, if this one's been trying to plant ideas into my head, I've certainly not been getting the message..." He laughed once, and ran a couple of his fingers over the warm shell. "It's strange, isn't it? For all of them to be exactly the same, I mean." How likely was it that every one of these Eggs would hatch to reveal the same species? Damn, someone really would have been getting busy.

He sighed at Poke's suggestion to his dilemma with keeping the Eevee contained, "I don't mind him running loose or anything... Stubborn as he is he's actually never gone too far away from me. I just worry about the little guy, he's pretty bold after all."

Sniffing about one of the tidal pools, Daikirai's ears twitched lightly at the sound of... Silence. Confused, he peered up toward the ocean. The waves had been rolling steady until now. The waterline was farther back, and receding even further. How unusual. Wasn't the tide supposed to be rising? Something was off about it, but not looking to pass up the opportunity to snag a more elusive tidbit, the Eevee hurried out toward a small Remoraid hopelessly flailing in a shallow pool.

Once Poke had returned with her book, Yuki eyed it with obvious interest when she started flipping through the pages. He half expected instructions no better than what the Pokemon Center had given him, and it wasn't too much better. However, he supposed that even for an instruction booklet, it would be hard to tell just how to care for a Pokemon Egg when you hadn't a clue what species was inside. The bit on personality was actually a comfort, though. "Well, at least that part's good to hear... I'd like to think I'm being gentle with it." He couldn't help but chuckle at the warning of food use; "I sure hope nobody tried with this batch, Nurse Joy would probably have a heart attack."

Swiftly and quite suddenly, a flash of silver sped past the trio and into the vegetation. No sooner could Daikirai vanish from sight, an ominous sound began from the direction of the water, growing louder by the second.

Yuki had seen the blur of his Pokemon's form as it fled, "What the hell?" He'd stared at the greenery for only a moment, before the sound of rushing water caught his ears. Jerking his attention to the source, his gaze first noted the lack of what had once been the rising tide. Then, to the large tidal wave that was to blame, heading straight for the beach with dangerous momentum.

"Oh <********>

After reading the book and packing it away, poke stood up again and grinned. "You'd be surprized how many people tried to eat their eggs..they thought Miss joy was holding a free cook-of, it was a nightmare! The amount of times I running around and shouting-"

she paused when the eevee ran past her and into the bushes. Wondering why the pokemon would do such a weird manevur, she noticed that the krabby had also complety disapeared, and there was no other trace of pokemon around. She found the answer when she looked at the rising wall of water.

"Yeah, ********" poke repeated, eyes going wide. As she watched the water came closer, here eyes caught sight of a rogue surfboard left of the beach, as it's owner had rushed for saftey much earlier then they had. An idea came to her...

poke looked at the surfboard, and then at the waves, and then at her egg. She repeated this motion, then looked at the two men in front of her, a sly smirk appearing on her face.

"Blade...I believe I'm going to take your advice..." giving them both a salute, she then said "twas nice knowing you."

She bent down and picked up the egg out of the back-pack, and then rushed towards the rising waters, grabbing the surf board in the other hand as she went. She had to run much further then usual as the water had receded quite a bit, but eventually she slammed her board into the sea and hopped aboard, padding with one arm and holding the egg in the other. It didn't take long before she spun around and started padding the opposite way as her board suddenly gained alot of hight, being drawn up to the top of the wave.

The booklet Poke found didn't help much at all. But he supposed that he should have known better. He still found it strange though. Usually a pokemon egg would look somewhat like the pokemon it was to be, but it really wasn't the case this time around. In any case he didn't spend much time to mull it over as a silver blur rushed past the small group.

Blade glanced over to see what had caused the Eevee to flee like that, only to widen his eyes at the sight of a tidal wave headed straight for them at a fast pace. He was about to start running, but for whatever reason Poke decided to take this opportunity to catch the wave. While surfing sounded fun and all, he really shouldn't be sticking around with a broken arm and injured leg.

Wincing as he started to run, the thief realized that this wasn't going to work out. So, thinking quickly, he reached for one of his pokeballs and unleashed the Pidgeot inside.

"Zephyr! We need to go up, and fast!"

The flying pokemon looked behind his trainer, and saw the reason for the urgent order. So he flew a little above Blade, to let the guy grab onto his talon with his good arm. One secure they went to the skies. It was too bad that Tiamat was still recovering from her injuries as well, or he would have offered Yuki a quick escape as well.

In what felt an instant, Yuki was alone. One had headed toward the wave - which seemed to be effective in her case - and the other had taken to the air to avoid the impending wall of water. Part of him knew full well that this was a scenario that permitted the acting-out of the phrase 'every man for himself,' but something deeper felt betrayed. Discarded. So apparently, they'd let someone drown to save themselves.

Well, if that was how it was...

In what seconds he had to spare, Yuki replaced the blanket over his Egg. How much good would it do? He really didn't know. Then, clutching it against him to keep from losing his grip, he looked up just in time to get pummeled with the crashing wave as it hit shore. Upon collision with his body, he lost his footing and vanished beneath the surface.
PostPosted: Fri Aug 07, 2009 10:12 pm

In what was seconds, poke was on top of the wave, and had a birds eye view of the area. And dam did it feel Good! It was an amazing feeling; the sun was in he rface, the wind was rushing up against her, watching the two below as they;

Blade had managed to get out of the area; his pidgeot saw to that. But yuki hadn't moved an inch. In face, it looked like he was going to stand his ground. Against a 10 foot high wave.

And poke thought she was nuts.

As the wave was brought downwards, pokes surfboard went down with it. For a minute she felt like she wa sfreefalling, untill the board evened out at te bottom. That still left her with the problem of the wave being above her now.

"God I hope this egg is a water type" Poke moved the egg behind her so that her tail would keep a hold of it, and as she saw yuki disapear under the water she dived into the rushing waves. At first she was rolled with the force of the water, but managed to hit the bottom and, somehow, level herself out. Moiving forwards again she tried to swim towards were yuki was a moment ago and, make sure he wouldn't drown.

From above, Blade watched as the wave came crashing down with Poke and seemingly onto Yuki. Gritting his teeth, he felt rather useless when it came to trying to be of any help in the situation. But, then again, he had no water type pokemon that could be of any use. Thinking hard, he glanced up at Zephyr. The Pidgeot would be the only one that could really do anything in this situation, and he wasn't even quite sure of it.

"Use agility, set me down in the tree tops and go see if you can fetch them out of the water!" he ordered.

Zephyr did just that, quickly flying to the nearest tree to let Blade down, then quickly looked around. He managed to spot someone under the surf, though the water's refraction made it difficult to pinpoint their exactly location. Still, he dove towards the pool with talons stretched out to try and pluck them out.

In the tree, Blade was having a bit of difficulty keeping his balance. More than once he nearly fell out. He was rather determined to not do that, not wanting to hurt himself more than what he already had.
