 Fear. Death. Suffering. This things have always existed in our world, but the dangers these things present is not always realized. They create dark spirits, which manifest demons, and monsters, from sadness, deep-seated grudges and other such things. Hearing these things may make one lose hope, but what one must realize is that there is always hope; For in the deep forests of Japan, a village thrives. There are many legends of this village, such as they are a village of shinobis, or spirits that will curse you if you go near, or even that they are earth-bound angels, and thus it is a sin to visit the village; but the truth is that this village is a Shugoshi village. These exorcist-warriors exist to get rid of these spirits and demons, born of the human heart. Within this village are 2 schools which train in this art. They are: Shiroryu (White Dragon)-This is the exorcist school. This school teaches young boys and girls the saving techniques. Here they learn how to pacify malevolent spirits, and purify them. This school teaches strictly magic and spiritual techniques. Kuroryu (Black Dragon)- This school trains the warriors. This school teaches young girls and boys how to fight the demons born of the dark spirits and how to protect their partner exorcists. This school teaches strictly physical techniques of martial arts, and fighting. After being fully trained, the students get a graduation exam. They are presented with many trials, one of which is to summon a shieki or spirit-guardian that serves them and assists in battles. These spirits are of low rank spirit-wise and take on many forms, all are animal-like though. However, only fully-trained Shugoshi can summon these. Once they graduate the Shugoshi from each school are mixed into groups, one female, and one male (one is a fighter, and one is an exorcist), and then deployed for jobs. However of recent, the spirits and demons have been increasing in numbers and strength and many believe that there is a great battle coming...

Demon Ranks There are many kinds of demons and they are separated in ranks. The more a spirit changes, it manifests higher rank demons.
D-Rank: The Weakest Demons. Good for 4th-Rank Shugoshi. These demons are mostly mischievous, not yet malevolent. The souls that create them have only begun to change, so they are easy to purify.
C-Rank: Stronger than D-Rank, but still weak. A good challenge for 3rd-Rank Shugoshi. They are unfriendly and will attack if provoked. Usually the soul that makes them are beginning to forget themselves. These are tougher to purify, and the demons they create are malevolent, but fairly weak, and won't attack until you threaten them.
B-Rank: Mildly dangerous, so usually only 3rd-Rank or 2nd-Rank Shugoshi should go against these. These demons attack on sight and love blood, but are stupid, and run on instinct. However, the demons will go looking for humans at this level. The souls that make them are halfway dark spirits now and have mostly forgotten themselves.
A-Rank: Very dangerous, because these demons are beginning to get smart, and are very bloodthirsty. They will seek out humans, and can even set traps for them. Only 1st-Rank Shugoshi should fight these. The souls that create these are mostly gone.
S-Rank: The most dangerous type. They don't pop up often but when they do its a big deal. Only S-Rank Shugoshi can have at least a chance against these. The demons that are created at this level, are extremely smart, and bloodthirsty. They can set complicated traps, and work on a humanoid level. The souls that create these are completely dark now and are the toughest to purify. Shugoshi Ranks Shugoshi are separated into ranks just as the demons and spirits are. (Rank is not determined on age, but on one's individual skill. For instance the can be a 10 year old who is S-Rank or a 25 year old who is still 4th-Rank. Also partners attain ranks individually so there can be a group of partners made-up of a 3rd-Rank and a 1st-Rank and so on.) 4th-Rank: Newbie Shugoshi right out of the schools. Can take on D-Ranks. 3rd-Rank: More experienced Shugoshi than 4th-Rank, but still fairly green. Can now fight C or perhaps B-Ranks. 2nd-Rank: Intermediate Shugoshi. Suitable for B-Ranks. 1st-Rank: Experienced Shugoshi. Can now fight A-Ranks. S-Rank: Master Shugoshi. They are the only ones that can handle S-Rank demons and spirits.

Characters:Username: Akuro_Chikamatsu Character Name: Saya Kusabana Sex: Female Age: 16 School Attended: Kuroryu Personality: Friendly, but with an inferiority complex. She is strong and smart, but lacks confidence in herself. She has a sweet personality, and becomes flustered when it comes to romance, but has a strong sense of justice, and even if she doesn't believe it herself, is a very strong woman. Tends to apologize too much though. She is also easily brought to tears. Likes: Sweets, singing, friends, being useful, anime, destroying demons, and cleansing souls. Dislikes: Souls that can't be saved, being useless, loneliness, and jerks. Worst Fear: Being unwanted/Being useless. Past: She doesn't really talk about it. Apparently her parents, who were at the head of their family, expected perfection from her in every way, because she was the heir to her family. When she could never meet their expectations, they deemed her worthless, and neglected her. Eventually her parents gave birth to a boy who took Saya's place as the heir, and Saya became an outcast. She currently lives alone in a house away from her family. Her family helps support her, but only for appearances.
