If you ever see a pirate out and about, whether it be in the forums or in towns and they seem like a good addition to the crew, ask them to join! we can never have enough crew members! although...saying that I'm not sure how many The Black Pearl can hold, but anyway, invite, invite, invite, and also take note when inviting and accepting that the people trying to join are pirates, we don't want any ninjas or no gooders joining, only pirates, carry on crew, as you were.
