I don't think you would be able to teach her anything about playing clarinet. Just because they're both Bb instruments doesn't mean that you play them similarly.

trumpets and clarinets are played completely differently, but you should help her with switching from a B flat to a B natrual. Once she gets that down the rest will be much easier.

Just knowing how to read music will literally do almost nothing. Until she learns the fingerings, and can physically play the instrument (no luck for me. I play brass.) reading music won't help. And really, being taught to play clarinet by a trumpet player is a really bad idea.

Hmmmmm....She has to learn the notes and the fingerings and what helped me is by using a book called Essential Elements. I've been playing Clarinet for 7 years and every time I needed help with a finger like G in the 3rd octave ( Sometimes I second guess myself and I have to go and check...well I used to.) I would refer to that book. That book comes in many levels so you have one for beginner, intermediate, and higher...there are different versions for Bb clarinet. . . if she practices the clarinet with those book for an hour each day, she'll get it in no time.
You play trumpet...Whoa. Two different instruments there. . .Two different ways to play, two different ways to produce a tone, and different variations of methods for both sets of instruments. I suggest finding a seasoned clarinet player to help her and walk her through the steps.

I agree with Giovatti_Deiderich. I used/use those books, and they're very helpful.
I've been playing for almost seven years. If you have any questions, you can just PM me.

Well, since clarinet wasnt my first instrument and I changed in the middle of my 7th grade year , I was kind of thrown off, as I d=had no oppurtunity to learn slowly and surely like everyone else, I just started reading my music (which I could read, ) and got the fingerings down eventually. But I kind of had to get off to a sprinting start if your Girl Friend wants to learn how to play clarinet, take this into mind: 1.Can she read music? 2. Is she physically able to play the clarinet (Clarinet requires that you have nothing between your keys and your fingers) 3. will she commit to doing so.
and by the way, Trumpet player teaching someone how to play clarinet=bad idea.
