Yeah, title actually has nothing to do with anything, I just figured it might get attention from you all, since everyone seems to be very good at being defensive about being a viola and NOT a violin.
Let's talk about something. ANYTHING. I don't want to see this guild die. Viola are incredibly amazing, but none of you really seem to say a whole lot.
Sooooooo....
School is starting soon, for some of us. What is everyone looking forward to?
My old high school is now playing a bunch of music i requested we play last year. Not entirely pleased about that... but hopefully we'll play some cool stuff at college this year too.

i am gona be a freshmen
i am gona be in chamber orchestra
and we are gona play like charlie and the chocolate factory......others.....

Chamber orchestra is great. Ours always played at dinners and was always a lot of fun. High school isn't nearly as bad as everyone says it is, and you get to play so much more cool music <3

OH, we had orientation today and I've got all week of mostly music, just one english class and a food seminar. I finally get to learn to play the piano, which my mom would never let me( i HATE when she tells me i can't do things because of my crappy hands). Now its a requirement and I HAVE to. I'm sooooooo happy. I've got private lessons with my old teacher who doesn't teach at the high school anymore, but still plays with the college. I've never been so excited for schools to start before lol

Yay, I love viola~
I'm probably going to be in chamber again next year. xD It's always a lot of fun, we bring snacks and eat them in the auditorium, despite the signs that say no.
No one stops us. xD I think we have permission, though I'm not sure...

yes, viola is great. this year i'm joining a new program (well it's new for me anyway) and i'm sorta excited about that.

I'm going to a school that doesn't support the Strings Program gonk
-sits in a corner- I'm transferring to one that does support it though.
So for now, I decided to join intermediate band..
I know, massive failure .___.

School for me started like 4 weeks ago, but we got some pretty decent music going on. Our concert is in like 16 days. D8 Oh, and I finally made first chair!! Yesh, I finally beat that one kid who doesn't even take his instrument home to practice, grr, he always made me so mad. scream So, is everyone else doing?

(sorry it took me so long to get back, i haven't been on much) well i'm starting the program thing today, and it's called A.R.M.E.S. i'm hoping i'll learn a lot from it.

Ah! Free time!!! I no longer have this anymore! Its sad... kinda. Can't be too sad if I'm spending every waking moment in a practice room. If its not viola, its piano. If its not solo's, is group ensemble stuff.
So, we've got a concert coming up on the 20th of october, and we're playing Danse Macabre and its beautiful. Creepy, dissonant, and beautiful. It definitely suits the halloween mood.
We've also got the Firebird Suite we'll be working on all year, and trust me, B Major is difficult(5 sharps eek ) . We're playing the final movement in november, and it will be a fun concert. We're trying something different this year with a concert that features all the city's strings. We're combining high school, middle school and my college for the last movement of Firebird. When our professor first told us that, we looked at her like she was crazy because there's NO WAY a 6th grader can play in B major(well not a normal one anyways, they're just starting =) ). I guess they're playing a different arrangement at the same time, and somehow all the notes sound ok together, even if we're in different keys XD (Oh, if you wanted to hear firebird, I guess its in Fantasia 2000)
Either way, it should be great fun. I can't wait =) I hope you all are having fun with your music classes, and I would LOVE to hear how everyone is doing, what music you're playing and all of that good stuff heart And if there's anything I can do to help with anything, just post or send me a PM, anytime. biggrin
