I used to do crews a lot when I was on zOMG but I always talked to the head of the crew before they invited me. Now I get random crew requests from I don't know who and what they are doing.
I was told that on WoW that sort of thing was rude.
I usually decline.
Is that the right thing to do?

I don't think it's a bad thing to decline random requests...
It's kinda like random friend requests.
Sometimes I'll join if I want to be in a crew anyway...
But there are plenty of times when I don't.
