Hello guys, it's me, your vice captain and fellow Drum Major, Celesst. ~Heaven~Awaits~You and I are two drum majors that conduct the bands, as well as participate in the activities. However, we are searching for third, fourth, and fifth drum majors to help us out. This means THREE SPOTS for being a Drum major are up for grabs.
In order to be a drum major, first you must first tell me your name, instrument, and why you want to be drum major. Then, you will tell me three qualities that are the most important for a leader to possess (i.e. honesty, passion, fun, etc). Next, you will kindly answer these questions below. *points under this paragraph*
Questions for a Potential Drum Major (please be honest; honesty is important; these questions apply to real life) 1. Do you know how to conduct in 4/4 time? 3/4? 2/4? 6/8? How about 5/4? 2. Describe your personality type. 3. How would you resolve conflict within the band? 4. What kind of grades do you make in school? 5. Do you exibit a commendable marching technique? 6. What are special/hard/unusual talents you can do with your instrument? 7. Do you promise to respect the fellow drum majors and other students, help those in need, provide confident wisdom, and lead this band to the sky?

Name: (IRL) Ashley, (Gaia) Shout. Instrument(s): Clarinet, percussion, and Alto Sax. Why I want to be drum major: I found it fitting that I got invited to view this thread by miss Heaven because I am Drum Major of my school's band. I love drum majoring and I love trying to be all that a drum major stands for. I believe that being a drum major makes me a better person because of my own standards for a drum major. They're high. And if I can achieve them, I will be quite happy with myself. I believe I can achieve them. I believe that I can be a drum major and what a drum major should be. 3 qualities that are the most important for a leader to possess: I feel that a leader should be passionate, productive, and an actor/actress. Being an actor sounds almost bad, but if you can not show your band how you should be all the time (even when deep down you are not), then your band will not know what to do either. You always have to look like you know what you're doing. And so, you must be an actor.
1. Do you know how to conduct in 4/4 time? 3/4? 2/4? 6/8? How about 5/4? Yes ma'am, I do. There's a reason I went to the George N. Parks Drum Major Academy this summer!
2. Describe your personality type. I've got a rather loud and flamboyant personality. I enjoy boosting morale and smiling. I try to bring happiness wherever I go because the band needs a mascot too, and if the drum major can't be the mascot then who can? I'm very huggy, very open, and very nice. I enjoy making people laugh and smile. I also have a quiet side. I can sit and think to myself quietly fairly easily. It's what I do when I'm not around people. I'd like to say that I'm a very serious person as well. I may be happy and peppy all the time, but I am intense and serious just as much. I mean what I say, even though I sound laid back. And so, I will enforce what I say either with push ups or suggestions, or even just a small conversation. I'm a dreamer and a believer. I know what I want and I know how to get it and I know what I think is best for the band. I'm open minded and can see the broadened horizons. I live in the now but can glance toward the future.
3. How would you resolve conflict within the band? Personally, I have always been a buffer in confrontations and so I've got lots of experience with conflicts. I tend to avoid confrontation, though and if I can, I'll break two people (or more?) up. I'll talk to everyone, get everyone's story and piece together what happened. I'll also get some neutral parties (that saw/heard the event) to explain to me THEIR side of the story as well. Then I'll bring all of the parties together, let them all say what's on their mind and we'd have a great big, PASSIVE discussion about the problem. It may not be resolved right away but there would be sorries and hugs exchanged more than likely. I'm passive for sure.
4. What kind of grades do you make in school? Well, as of late I've been receiving the highest marks I've gotten since sixth grade - On average, 5 As and 2 Bs. I try as hard as I can in all of my classes, especially band.
5. Do you exhibit a commendable marching technique? I believe I do. I can march 8 to 5 perfectly and I have not quit marching since marching season of my freshman year. I can't get enough. Flanks, slides, crab stepping, they're all great. (Don't forget facings, and backwards marching!) I love it and I know that I look good when I march because I won't ever let myself look bad.
6. What are special/hard/unusual talents you can do with your instrument? I don't know if I really have a special or unique talent. I'm not going to toot my own horn (ha, pun) and say that I'm amazing, but I've been told that I have a nice tone and a great emotional quality to my playing and sound. I've also been told that I play quite nicely in the Altissimo register (which is really hard to do with a clarinet at the age of 15 [almost 16!]) and I can glissando. That's about it, though. X)
7. Do you promise to respect the fellow drum majors and other students, help those in need, provide confident wisdom, and lead this band to the sky? The only good answer to this question is "yes." And I do believe I do, so my answer is yes.

Alright, I think A Shout To Remember has won the title of Drum Major. Since nobody else has participated yet in the auditions, then they are closed now smile 3 Drum Majors: RoadsDivine, Celesstria, and A Shout To Remember
