Who: Axl and Lucifer Where: Still at the obstacle course, watching When: Day 10, sometime after they finish their runs at the challenge
Axl had grown tired of doing the obstacle course. He'd debated going back to the main campgrounds and just chilling or something, but that'd be boring, so instead he pulled up a seat--away from Chef of course, he'd already ticked off the cook once today--and just watched as others did the course. After all, it was pretty funny when you were watching other people. He could almost see why Chris and Chef liked giving them challenges like this. Watching people wipe out was pretty ******** funny.
Another poor sap went down and all he could do was snicker uncontrollably.

The pyromaniac snorted, muttering under his breath as he shoved his paws in his pockets. Stupid obstacle course, he had had enough, and having completed his five runs, he didn't want to look at it ever again. Though he had made his last run with no failures, he still fumed, snarling mostly over the wire fence, oh how he hated that fence, perhaps it had even surpassed his hatred of the gator pit (water...grrrrr...)
Sadistic jerk that he was, maybe he should have stayed to watch the others struggle, surely he would have were he not already so angry. It must have been highly amusing to create the course, he could just imagine Chef giggling like a maniac through the night at his creation (a thought that made Lucifer's ears twitch, then lay flat).
But now, Lucifer was tired of the course, he didn't want to look at it again, ever. Growling, he angrily brushed path whoever was in his path, hardly noticing Axl even as he tripped over him.

Axl snickered at a particularly impressive fall off the beaver log--doing his very best to forget that that had been him previously--his unwrapped tail flicking about in amusement. Seems his still hadn't noticed the wraps were missing... Guess the course had knocked a few screws loose in that head of his.
He was completely enjoying the show when someone bowled him over. Looking around bewilderedly, he was squished underneath someone. "D...dude. I c-can't brea-the. Can y-you get up?" he barely managed to gasp.

A growl, more at himself that the audio he had tripped (though he was feeling far from apologetic), Lucifer stood to his paws. It was only then that Lucifer's eyes fell on the one in his path, oh, it was Axl.
"Sorry."
His expression changed, trying to look sincere even though at the point he couldn't have cared less if he'd squished Axl into the mud. But he had a cover to maintain, and he didn't want to be quite so much of a jerk if Noel could see him.

"S'okay," he said as soon as he could intake air into his lungs again. Sitting up, he rubbed at his chest, looking up at his assailant. Oh. It was Lucifer.
"Oh, its you. Hey, man." Axl hadn't seen Lucifer since the larger male had rescued him in the forest. "How're you doing? Pretty brutal challenge, eh?"

"I'm fine."
He brushed a bit more of the dirt from his fur before stuffing his paws back in his pockets.
shrug.
"I guess."
He didn't really want to think about it right now, he'd had enough, oh how he hated that wire fence, grrrr... Though maybe later he could come back and did any of the unexploded land mines from the cliff, heh heh heh.
"How's your tail?"
His expression mimicked concern, sincerity. But oh the deviously wicked smirk hidden behind that expression. It looked like the fur had begun to grow back, but oh the patter was still distinctive. That had been one of his better pranks.

His tail...? Oh, yeah. He supposed Lucifer had gotten a look at it when they walked back to camp... He hadn't had the wraps on it then. His face got a bit warm and he did his best to feign nonchalance.
"Meh, its fine.. S'not like it hurts or anything." Nah. It didn't hurt physically. But it sure did a downer on his self-esteem. Poor little Axl.
He gave a shrug, his tail flicking behind him. Glancing around let him see that there was no one around to have over heard the tail conversation. That was a relief, he didn't want anyone else to know about it. He hadn't even told Jay!
"Thanks again for helping me out," he said as he gave Lucifer a small smile.

"That's good."
Though the words sounded true, they hid the truth, the gleeful laughter that echoed through Lucifer's head. Oh no, of course it didn't hurt, except his pride, heh heh heh.
"Don't mention it, it was the least I could do."
Oh poor poor Axl, if only I had found you sooner, then maybe you would have been spared. Yes, poor gullible Axl.

"Its kind of itchy though..." he said, reaching back to scratch at it. "The fur is growing back and..." His hand stopped moving. Wait... He wasn't scratching at the wraps. He was scratching at bare skin, and that little bit of hair that was poking up... Oh ******** swallowed, rather visibly, and gave a bit of a laugh, trying to hide the fact it bothered by it.
"And yeah, it itches like a sonofabitch." He gave Lucifer a lop sided grin.
"I still appreciate it though."

"Does it?"
It was getting harder and harder to hold that smirk back. Oh the laughter that would surely echo from the pyromaniac later. It was just too good, and Axl remained completely clueless.
"it doesn't look so bad though."
This of course was a lie, the words of a concerned friend attempting to make his friend feel better. However, in truth, for all the sincerity in his voice, it was a taunt, the wicked laughing at his victim.
Yes, poor Axl indeed.

He gave a nod, his hands remaining at his side now, even if he actually wanted to take sandpaper to his tail to scratch it. He had to keep up some semblance of a tough front, right?
Riiiight.
Axl's ears perked up a bit at that. "Really? You think so?" He glanced back at his tail, trying not to wince at the sight of it. He really wasn't sure how anyone could say it didn't look that bad...
Maybe it was just him though. Maybe he wasn't objective enough because it was his tail. Hmm..

"Sure, it's not bald right, so it's not that bad."
Heh heh heh, no, bald would have been far too easy. Had he shaved Axl's tail bald, the pattern would disappear as soon as his fur started to grow back. No, this way, it was there for all to see until the last piece of fur had finished growing.
Besides, that skunk stripe rather suited him.

Yes. That was one thing to be thankful for. At least his tail hadn't been shaved bald. While the... skunk stripe was just.. ugh, at least it was just a stripe, right? Right?
"Heh... Not so sure about that, but thanks, man." He gave Lucifer a small smile, clearly appreciative of his words.
If only he knew...
