The day started off so bright and cheery. Kandi remembered rolling over from beneath her willow tree to look at the sun beaming off the little puddle she'd created for drinking purposes. She had smiled then, flicking her rainbow colored hair away from herself and then the day had begun.
It had rained non-stop since.
Now the rainbow mare was pressed up inside of a small cave some ways away from her home...or was she? She couldn't really remember where she was, how she got there or why she was even wondering about how to get back. Maybe this was her home...? Looking around, it didn't seem possible, seeing as she had to lay down just to fit. Kandi frowned and looked down at her golden hooves, waiting patiently for the rain to stop.
Kei wasn't going to be happy with her.....whoever that was.

Prabhat liked the rain. The only problem was, he didn't love the rain, and right now was starting to get a little sick of it. "Go away storm," he shouted, "I don't love you. Do you hear me?" He was rewarded with a nasty sideways gust of rain heavy air. He flinched as it hit him. "Aye," he muttered sadly, "I guess you heard me."
Maybe leaving home hadn't been the best idea. He'd be all safe and snug with his family right now, warm and cozy and dry. Maybe - no. This was what adventuring was all about. The good times and the bad. It just needed a song, something to fill him with inner cheer. Leaning into the wind, fur plastered to his skin, Prabhat smiled. Singing... yes, singing was exactly what the situation called for.
"OH ONCE THERE WAS A JOLLY FELLOW," he bawled at the top of his lungs, "WHO NEVER LEARNED HOW TO SWIM, AND AS IT STARTED TO RAIN HE - uh." Okay, maybe not the best song selection. It'd probably be best to try something else. Smiling brightly, Prabhat started again, "LIGHTNING HOOOOOOVES, I'VE GOT LIGHTNING FOR HOOOOOOVES, AND A STORM FOR A MANE AND RAIN FOR EYEEEEEES." He started to laugh uncontrollably, all too aware of how off-key his singing was, and was rewarded with a distant peal of thunder. "Thank you," he said, and took a mock bow.

Kandajha lifted her head and looked around. She was sure she'd heard a voice, but when she couldn't find the evidence to back it off she laid her head back down. Her tail was positioned in just a way so she could have the perfect pillow. Yawning in contentment, the mare closed her eyes.
Gold hooves hit the stone floor as she bolted up. She was positive she'd heard something that time. And just when she'd gotten cozy too. Kandi continued the process with another scan before giving into curiosity. Her head was perked up as she trotted out into the rain and only rarely did she blink it away. "S-singing?" She stuttered in amazement. The speaker was obviously male, his voice carried so, and as she ventured a bit away from her cave to find him she saw a mane of fire.
Being as simple as she was, she naturally thought he was talking to her. "Your welcome," She chirped, cocking her head so the storm couldn't drown her out. "Are your a male? I've never seen a male. You just have to be, because your singing voice is different than mine. " The wind sliced through the trees a moment before lightning touched down not to far off. "Has it been like this long? I can't remember seeing a worse storm!"

A ghost! Prabhat jerked upright and nearly bit his tongue in his fright, but as he listened to the mare speak, he realized that she was no ghost. Merely a very pale kirin, blurred by the rain.
"Yes, I'm a male," he shouted. He grimaced; yet another kirin that was separated from their family. She'd never met her father? Or maybe she had, but he had left when she was too young to remember... sad, sad.
On the bright side, his singing hadn't frightened her off. He brightened immediately. "Aye," he replied, "it's been raining for a bit now. I've seen a storm or two like this before, but I've always had shelter. You wouldn't happen to know of a good cave or anything, would you? I'm a tad wet, and I'm worried I might melt."

"Ooooh." Kandajha's eyes brightened with glee. "Are all males mane's on fire like yours is? Even though, I expect the rain is doing it more damage than good. " She tsked, tilting her head to the side to get a better look.
Being of the easily distracted sort, Kandi turned around with a "Huh? Oh, right" and listened in again. She nodded along with him. "Your fire will go out if he we stay here, thats for sure, but I don't know of any caves. I'm just kinda...travelling around too."
Inwardly her cave wept. She clipped her slender legs together as she maneuvered to his side, using his larger body to block out the greater force of the wind. "You make a good shield!" Kandi shouted.

There was something strange about this mare, but not something he could describe in words. He liked her. "Ah, no," he said, "barring the manes of my father and brother. They have manes like mine." He smiled to himself at her worry about the rain, glad to have found another story teller. It was always nice to meet somebody who saw the world differently. Like Arianna - no, he had more immediate concerns. The rain, for one.
He sighed. No caves. They'd just have to find one, then.
He smiled at the little mare. "I'm glad to hear it! Come, let's travel together, I'm sure he can find shelter somewhere. And then I'll be able to dry my mane." He winked, trying to reassure her that it would not go out, even if it got a bit damp and plastered itself to his neck. Which would be a most unpleasant sensation, a cave was sounding better and better. "This way," he said, picking a direction at random.

Kandi looked up at him and flashed a cheesy smile before hunkering further down as the world roared. "We should do that really soon, I'd think." The mare nodded fervently, trotting nervously at his side.
A little thought was poking at her brain, but she couldn't seem to remember it. It was like she was here before, travelling down this very same path with another male, but that couldn't be possible, seeing as this one was the first she had ever met. And yet...."Left, go left. I have a good feeling about it." Kandajha broke off and galloped left some ways, then trotted around in a little circle in the mud before looking back at Prabhat. "I...I thought that....What was I thinking?" She mused before really looking at the other kirin. "Who are you?"
And why were they in the rain? They should be in a cave!

Prabhat shook his mane out of his face as he hurried after the mare. The water had started to soak through his fur and he was cold and wet and he wasn't having fun anymore. There was just something about the mare's behavior that was starting to worry him.
He stared at her dumbfounded, shocked by her question. "I'm Prabhat," he said slowly. "I thought... I thought I'd introduced myself." But no, now that he thought about it, he'd never mentioned his name. He relaxed slightly, and tried to look as nonthreatening as possible. "My mistake, I'm sorry I didn't give you my name. But look. The storm is getting dangerous, I'll tell you more about me later. For now... I think I see a cave over there! Follow me, quick." He made a beeline for the cave, but moved slowly enough that the mare could easily keep up. There was something about her manner, the way she had seemed so lost and confused, that worried him. He'd have to try and find out more about her and what she was doing in the area. But first, the cave.
