Flying was nice, but even a god needed a break, especially a small one. Immortal or not, even Khuluma’s pretty wings started to weight down on him and he had to come down for a while. Traveling and flying were starting to lose their charm and he wished he knew where all the gods were stationed so he could simply try out teleportation. For now, he was pushing off that trick and taking in his surroundings as he began to familiarize himself with the mortal world. There was plenty to take in, and the scenery was always changing.
As it was still in the day, Khuluma landed and hid his wings, though refused to do anything about his hair. Uncommon for mortals as it may be, he was too proud of it to try adjusting it for appearances. If anything, it only flattered his already shimmering features. Stretching, the godling went through the grass to scout for water. Not the best at finding it on his own, he looked around for any gathering herds. A cluster of animals usually meant water was close by, or at least he hoped.

Certainly the young god was in luck in one thing there certainly was a herd nearby but they were simply chewing the cud. Among them lay a large lion like creature, he never hid his wings or anything about his appearance he was proud of who he was, of his station. He was god of prey and these days he liked to flaunt it. The herd he was attending at the moment was simply a herd of wilder beast and as they rose their head to the approaching goddling he did the same thing, his small rounded ears lifted in an alert manner and he let out a low grunt as a sort of warning.
"Be careful little one, wilder beast are not known for their tolerance for cubs, especially when their are calves about." His calm soft brown eyes fall on the cub and he smiles radiating an air of calm about him. "Was that you i saw dropping? You don't need to hide your wings from me." Flickering his tail he turns his head to nudge at a black and white klipspringer resting next to him fast asleep. "Zebadie we have a guest." he whispers, raising his head his dark antlers raising high above his head.
The zebra stripped klippy grunted " You know lions eat wilder beast palahala." She stated yawning widely and narrowing her golden eyes at the little god "even little ones."

He had not expected any conversation today, but that was never a bad thing when it came to him. An audience was an audience after all, and while he never expected to be talking to mortals, those that were not even lions was something even more unpredicted. What surprised him the most was to find another god, and a rather unique one at that! It was a good thing the other god, a dark brown male, did not hide his appearance. It was much easier to spot a god that was very clearly one than ones that were hiding as mortals. The godling had yet to detect the presence of other gods as easily as others, and often felt he was missing them.
While the grunted warning caused him to still and lower to the ground, ears back, the sudden realization that they were of the same realm caused a wave of relief. Ever since meeting Raiden, who had upset him, and getting a warning from Rokopelli, he made sure to check about what gods he was approaching. This one however was not dark, massive, with huge teeth. Instead, he was slender, dark brown, with hooves, horns, and unique, bat-like wings. This was certainly a god the likes of which he never set eyes upon.
“I didn’t know there was another god about.” He said, smiling in hopes of easing the tension. The stripped klipspringer next to the god was looking him up and down. “I’m not going to eat you. I went down to rest and get some water. I thought finding a herd was the best idea. I’m…still new to traveling.” He admitted, bowing his head a bit before looking up. Since there was no point in hiding it, he revealed his wings and breathed out in relief. Much better. “My name is Khuluma. God of Rhetoric. Who might you be?” He didn’t want to say it, but he was guessing the God of klipspringers. Maybe?

The slender dusty brown god smiled calmly, he wasn't afraid of the little god, at one time he would have been terrified of being chased and eaten by another god, but now he knew better, now he could defend himself like the mighty wilder beast and even the giant kuudu, he classed himself as prey but he, in his adolescence, was already as large as an adult wilder beast though he was slim and tall like an antelope rather than thick shinned and broad of hide like the large cattle beast.
"Rhetoric, " the young male god mused, a smile turning his lips. "I am Palahala the god of prey." He lifts his head then twitching his ears, swiveling them around, listening for any other intruders upon his sleepy afternoon with the herd. "I'm afraid we are some way away from any water, this herd has come from the pools and is here for it's daily feed." He nods at the creatures around him, their heads bowed.
Zebadie snorted and got to her hooves, butt first, once standing she looks at the god cub and snorts "durn right you're not going to eat me." She states shaking her head and trotting up to the god cub. "i'd be too much of a mouthful for you any way." she chuckled bounding away to converse with one of the large wilder beasts.
Palahala shakes his head and chuckles "You'll have to excuse Zebadie, she is a strong beast she likes to show she is in charge by being fearless int he face of danger. it is her way."

Being told off by a small, mortal animal was not something he approved of, and he held his grown and kept his gaze when Zebadie past him by. Good. Gods talking to gods, and mortals with mortals. That was how it should be. Looking back, he shook his head. “I don’t think saying she is a big mouthful is a compliment. If she didn’t have you, she might have been eaten.” Sure, Khuluma was not knowing for his hunting skills. More of a talker, Khuluma’s idea of getting his hands dirty involved growling back at someone who disagreed with him. Taking down an animal for him meant taking them down a peg during an argument.
Frowning, he sat down, not at all happy to find there was no water about. “Hmm. I guess I’ll have to wait till I fly again for water.”
As his eyes roamed, he noticed how odd it was to be inside of a animal herd. The creatures were packed close, but while some were laying down and others were grazing, they all meshed into a dizzy blur. Shaking his head, he looked back to the god. “God of Prey? That must be a very depressing domain. Many of your wards must get hurt just to keep others alive. Being surrounded by mortals must not be very entertaining.” Especially mortals that were not even lions!

Palahala chuckled lightly "oh she can look after herself, she did for years before she joined me, she is the head of my herd, she's a very resourceful beast." He smiles at the youngster and shook his head "When I was younger I feared everything, worried about the world around me because of the predators with in it. In fact it may amuse you to know my brother is the god of predators, but as I grew I found out that prey beasts lived full and wonderful lives, alert often yes, but many of them live to an old age and they enjoy their time on the earth, and until you have bounded through the long grass as an antelope, you have not lived." he chuckled and stood slowly, raising as an antelope would, tail end first, then forelegs, he somehow made this maneuver look regal rather than awkward, standing tall and looking over the herd around him.
"Come, I will lead you to the water, you are upsetting the mothers." he chuckles and and leaps away a single bound plummeting him over the grass, his wings, tightly set against his back he pauses and looks back at the little god smiling "You could learn a lot by speaking to a beast of prey, they have a different perspective on life."
Zebadie zipped past the little god in small leaping bounds, she was small as all klipspringers are though she was a giant of her species, her withers sitting at a mighty ten inches. She grunted and leapt past Palahala in a zig zagging bounce her ears high and her lips lifted in a smile. "There's no greater freedom little god than a klispringers galavant."

He didn’t know much about prey animals aside that prey meant food and being hunted. Spending your life around them felt like it would be a troubling existence, but Palahala was upbeat, optimistic, and had a very lovely outlook about the existence of prey animals. It made Khuluma wonder if this came with age and being immersed with these creatures. His eyes scanned around him, and all he felt was that all the other beasts were paying attention to him, wary despite the fact that he made no moves towards them. He was, to them, a predator, and for that, he was not to be trusted. Khuluma doubted he could do much with the god around anyways, not to mention that all the creatures were aware he was here. Surprise would not have been on his side.
Looking back, he rose up when Palahala said he was disturbing everyone, and he gave a small “I’m sorry,” for being a nuisance for the other god. Rising, he thought he was about to walk with the god, but instead saw the other leap ahead, following by Zebadie, who pranced past. Even though the little creature was mortal, it looked as if she was flying. Looking down, he almost felt ashamed by his ungraceful legs, and he tried an unsuccessful hop. Nothing even remotely as high or appealing as the other two. Frowning, he knew he was being left behind, and instead took off running after them. “You’re amazing. You can jump so high without using your wings.” He called out, trying to catch up. He was, after all, shorter than the other god and not as nimble.

Palahala slowed down and smiled "zebadie, show the cub how it's done hmm?" He smiles and lowers himself towards Khuluma "watch what she does, it's a very quick way of getting around and less tiresome on your paws because your feet aren't always on the ground, it's a very quick way of moving too and if you are in trouble, it's a fast way to get away."
Zebadie did a very quick 'U' turn and pulled to a stop on a dime in front of the little cub. "watch carefully kid, you bend your knees and push as hard as you can keeping your legs straight as you go through the air you propel yourself forwards, if you time it just right as you land your legs are bent again and it sends yo even further on your next jump, makes for easy turns and quick get aways, can out run a cheetah with this method of running." She smiles again and leaps away in a quick agile circle once again coming to a stop before the long haired cub.
"You see if you listen to prey beasts they are willing to teach you but you have to be open to them, not everything is dumb just because it isn't what you are. Now you give it a try and we will be off again."

For a teacher, he would have rather had Palahala, as he thought learning from a god was better. A god was an expert of a domain. A mortal was just a mortal. When he was told he would be learning from Zebadie, his ears went back and he slowed down before doing a dead brake when the klispringer stopped before him. It nearly caused him to choke on his own heart, which jumped in his throat and he stopped just in time else he would have collided with the creature. Breathing deep, he looked with wide eyes at the creature, who gave him a quick explanation. Trying to retain it all, he looked at his feet. So jump, straight out, and jump again? Wait, what was that middle part? Too late. The little creature already was jumping about and went behind him. Well, whatever it was, he wasn’t about to let a little mortal beast out due him.
Puffing, he reared his tail end up in the air and jumped his hardest and held his paws out, when he impacted the ground, he tried jumping hard again, but he started to tilt, so upon his second landing, he started to trip, which lead him to stumble and sent him moving quickly forward and falling down. In the grass, he stood back up and shook himself off. “I don’t think I have the right legs.” He looked down and frowned. Jumpinig was harder than it looked, and he didn’t think he had the skill for all of this. Ears back, he watched Zebadie jump about. She made it look too easy, and he started to hate the little creature for her talents.

Palahala bent down and smiled at the little god helping to right him. "thats pretty good for a first try, you know, when Zebadie taught me to run I went tail over nose, it was quite funny at the time." he chuckles and looks at the black and white klipspringer with a grin. "She taught me a lot about being a prey beast about what my domain entailed and what it was like to be a hunted beast. We aren't always hunted you know, only when creatures are hungry we are an important part of lie on the savannah without us nothing would exist not the lions, not the gods not the humans, nothing."
He smiles and stands. " perhaps you have had enough lessons for one day, we will walk."
Zebadie trots up to Palahala her head twitching around and her ears perking, her golden eyes wide and her nostrils flaring. "We're safe, not even a water monster at the hole I don't think." She smiles proudly and bounds on ahead a little slower this time.

He was glad that they were going to stop with all the jumping. He had a hard enough time learning to fly, and had to be taught to fly properly without injuring himself too much. “When I was learning to fly, I hurt myself a lot on my own. It was a god who taught me how to fly better to make it to the mortal world.” Before, he had been limited to the God Haven where it had been cold and lonely. Here, there were much more life and a lot more mortals.
“I don’t see how a god can learn from a mortal, especially such a small one. They do not look over a domain and are gods of that domain. You’re the god of Prey. Shouldn’t you know all there is to know about that subject?” It made sense that a god would be a master of that area. At least to him.
Walking, he thought about a mortal teaching a god. It seemed wrong and unusual. “You are not the first god to tell me that mortals have a lot to teach, but I don’t see how. If I’m a god, I should be the one to know all there is to know. If not, then why am I the god to begin with? You’re the god of Prey. Don’t you think you know all there is to know about that?” he said, looking up to him with questioning eyes. As someone who had grown up from being a small god, he had to know someone about the position and thoughts that he had now as a small god.

Palahala chuckled "You know young one we are all born a fairly blank slate, yes, we know what we are and we know what we are supposed to be doing in the world, but not everything comes naturally, as any mortal or god is born we have to learn the ins and outs of our domains. Do you know how or what your powers are yet?" He smiles briefly "It took me a long time to find out what my powers are and how to use them, everyone has to learn, you have been born new and fresh and you have much to learn, you should not be so arrogant about mortals, they are wonderful things and you would not exist if it was not for them. Gods do not believe in other gods, mortals believe in us and that is why we exist."
Palahala knew this was perhaps a little over the cubs head, but his father had told him the same thing when he was younger, they all existed because some mortal some where believed they did and because of that mortals could teach them things they could not learn alone. he had taken this to heart and he was more a herd beast than a lion in adolescence.

This was all new information to him, and he shook his head. “No one told me I had any powers. I didn’t even know I had any.” Powers? He had seen Buni, the god of Imagination, do a few things, but he just thought it was something only she could do and that he himself did not have anything special about him. To him, he felt his only power was being a god, immortal, and having some talents like flying and disguise. “I thought all the gods were supposed to stay with the other gods, and that’s who I was suppose to learn from. It made sense to me.” Apparently this was not the case. Did all gods learn from mortals? Not only this, but it seemed his idea that he was above mortals was anything but. In fact, from what Palahala was telling him, his very existence was because of them. This was all shocking to him, and he felt overwhelmed by this. He was a product of mortals!
“I…I don’t know what to do now. I was looking around for gods to learn. Am I suppose to be learning from mortals instead?” If so, he didn’t very much like the idea. “…I don’t even know what to do around mortals. I’m a god. I don’t think I’d fit in.” Sure, he could disguise himself, but he was afraid about what would happen. He never talked to any mortals as of yet. He avoided them at all cost, only checking on them to see if they had a god among them.
"Did you have to find your own mortals to be with? How did you know who to learn from? Weren’t you afraid of them?” He looked up ahead at Zebadie, and thought differently. She didn’t look scary, but she had an attitude against him. He could only imagine her being mean to Palahala when they first met.

Palahala smiled calmly "Take a deep breath young one, there is no need to fret. You can learn a lot from both. My father taught me much of what a god should be, what his demands and problems are, what being a god is about. truthfully, we are here to serve mortals to care for them, to help them, though some hinder them, we are here because of them and we should love them for that for without them we would not exist." he paused for a moment and lay down quietly his soft, deep brown eyes resting on the little god. "Why don't you spend a few days with me, you can come and visit my herd. "
Looking ahead he smiles at zebadie "When we first met she protected me from my brother and I found that I could protect her in the same manner. I could stop predators from harming her, because she was threatened I found out I could protect her but without her, and her kind I would not be."
"When I was younger, I was terrified of predators, afraid they would eat me, I was like a foal, fresh meat for them o devour, but I learned quickly that when I was surrounded by a herd I was safe, they felt I was one of them and they protected me like they did their own young, I learned to hide my scent and lay so still that it seemed I was not within the grass. The prey beasts taught me how to live like them, how o be amongst them how to live a happy, calm, wonderful life and in return I protect them when I can. My herd lies in a secret place where no predator may enter, no one can hunt my lands it is a haven for those whom wish to join it and Zebadie is the head of my herd, though she often comes out with me to rejoin the world. i think she enjoys the thrill of knowing their are predators." He chuckles and shakes his heavily horned head standing once again and taking a few more steps after Zebadie.
"Do not fear them, the mortals, they can help you discover just who you are."

Who he was? That was a fresh question that had yet to be asked of him. He was Khuluma, a small god of Rhetoric. He knew how to make a convincing argument, and tried to learn all he could because he knew that those who knew a lot could also teach him the most. To think that a mortal was the way was something that troubled him. Mortals teaching a god? He wasn’t a prey beast. It wasn’t as if he was learning to be hunted or hide himself. Did this herd really have something to teach a creature that wasn’t?
“I’m not a prey beast. I don’t know how they would teach me anything..” Still, Palahala was already teaching him a lot about being a god, and was questioning her purpose. He seemed to know what there was about being a god, and if anything, being in his company could teach him more in a few days than he would be spending traveling on his own. Khuluma also loved the company, often feeling weak on his own. “…but I would like to stay here a while. You are already teaching me a lot. It’s…not going to make the others hate me? They don’t seem to like me being around.” His eyes went over to Zebadie as they started to approach where he noticed some water was glimmering. “ Your friend doesn’t seem to like me, and what if I get hungry?!” Palahala would hate him if he decided to eat anything that was under his protection, wouldn’t he?
