Sorry for the dumb subject XD

I have only had my first AA table a little while over a month ago, leading up to it I was very nervous about how I would do. In the end what I made was far greater than I had expected and my confidence and pride were revived.
However, I don't really know what the average profits of other artists are so I don't really have a point of comparison. I've always wanted to ask but it seems like an awkward question to approach someone with XD So I am asking here on the lovely internet~

How much do you generally make on average at a normal convention?

And for the convenience of myself and perhaps others' curious natures why not consider the factors.
What kind of products did you sell?
How large was the convention?
What other factors do you see that influence your sales?

Hope this helps > w <
How much do you generally make on average at a normal convention?
So far, about $300.
I don't want to average the first convention, since I've made about $50 and the most people I saw there was like 20 xD

What kind of products did you sell?
In the latest convention I went to, I've sold Posters and Buttons 2in and 1in. D:
Not a lot of stuff... 3 kinds of poster + pokemon, hetalia, vocaloid, custom buttons

How large was the convention?
It was kinda large I think, I've only been to the artist alley all 3 days... The convention was at a convention hotel and Miyavi was there so there was many people.

What other factors do you see that influence your sales?
What kinda stuff you sell. Most of the things people bought from me was things that they know or was at least cute.

Cost of your things. My things ranges from $.50 to $6.

Free things, who doesn't like free stuff xD . People like free stuff, sometime they'll buy stuff or come back later w/ friends.

Your demeanor. Friendly people are always nice to approach to talk to and ask about the products.

How much do you generally make on average at a normal convention?
About $300, now that we're getting into the swing of things. (Didn't do cons for a few years, and when we started again, it was right after the economy blew up and people were wary of spending money. >.>)

Also, this is totally gross profits. If you take into account registration, table, hotel (if it's far away), printing & material costs? Yeah, that profit disappears pretty quick. But if it either completely or gets close to paying for itself, that's a major victory on your way to actual net profits. ^^;

What kind of products did you sell?
Buttons, magnets, bookmarks, prints and commissions. I introduced something new at AMA, button commissions. Those seemed to go over pretty well. Our buttons are 1.25" across. Magnets haven't done well, for whatever reason.

How large was the convention?
3,000-4,000 people on average. (We might do Otakon next summer, which is 20k+. @_@)

What other factors do you see that influence your sales?
A couple things:
1. Pricing: Try not to overprice things, but don't price it too low. Remember, it's how you value your work. (Also, try to keep it to whole dollar amounts. It's easier to deal with.)

2. Say hello to everyone that looks towards your table and smile. Be engaging. People are sometimes shy about actually looking through your stuff. If you're friendly, they're more likely to look at your art, and also more likely to purchase something. Gotta get them to look at it first. ^^

3. If you sell little things like buttons, consider doing some sort of '$X each, 3 for $Y' where there's a slight discount on them overall. That sometimes encourages people to pick out any extra button or two they might not have purchased before.

4. Love your art! This is really important. If you're excited about it and love it, it shows. ^^

How much do you generally make on average at a normal convention?
:M i've only been to 1 Con, two years in a row.
I believe i made
$195(:< would be $150 had i not accepted a commission) this year and $50-90 the previous year ( this after i subtracted material cost :<).

What kind of products did you sell?

Prints: 11x8, 11x17, and some smaller of various size
Book Marks... left over from last year.
Stickers

:< ... for me things sell like this, Prints > everything else.
OTL i want to get a button maker but what if they sell like crap like book marks and stickers i'd be hard to make the cost back.

How large was the convention?
1 Day, less than 1500 people. i think the attendance cap was 1400 .A.

What other factors do you see that influence your sales?

-talking to people .A. and smile
-Buy 2 8x11 get one free... Influences me to buy from others *shot*
-BE PREPARED! pre price sketches, commissions, EVERYTHING! *was a deer in headlights when people asked how much for a sketch*
-BE SELECTIVE in what you print .A. i printed too much crap. i have like 20 11x17 left over and 40 8.5x11
(i print 2 - 11x17, and 3 - 8.5x11 of each thing i print .A. for the things that sold 3 was good for 8.5x11, but 1 is good enough for 11x17 if even that much)
-Get your friends to guilt their friends into buying stuff .`A. bwahahaha *shot* that work like once xD

How much do you generally make on average at a normal convention?
I've only been to one con, but I made about $800. I didn't exactly do a precise count, since I bought a couple things during the con (some prints of my own, subway, etc) but my costs were pretty low as it was a local con (my travel expenses were bus fare, for example).

What kind of products did you sell?
Prints of cute things.

How large was the convention?
About 15,000 people. Fairly large. Also to note that it was a comic convention and not an anime con.

What other factors do you see that influence your sales?
I sold out of a lot of stuff on the Saturday as I didn't bring a lot of copies of each print. If I'd had more stock available, I would have sold more. Basically, everyone who decided to come back later instead of impulse buying ... well, what they wanted wasn't there anymore when they came back.
Also, none of my friends can sell for s**t. Every time I went to the bathroom I totally lost like 3 sales, hahaha.
