Shahelda was curled up in her corner of the den, her frail body shook as another wave of coughing rolled over her. She wished with all her weak little heart that she could be more like her siblings, though she knew it was unlikely she ever would be. The tiny cub pushed herself up on to her paws, her legs wobbled, barely able to hold up her body, and as she moved slowly toward the entrance, she almost fell down. She knew it was night time, but not because she could see the outside, it was because her family was all in the den asleep.
Leaning on the wall for support, Shahelda looked back at her family. She smiled weakly at their sleeping forms, and thought, They'd probably happier without me... Her smile disappered, replaced with a frown, as she turned back to the enterance, and looked up at the starry sky. A cloud moved out from in front of the moon, revealing the first whole moon the tiny cub haad truely ever seen. She watched the moon for a little while, then began to creep out of the den, staying close to the wall, not really knowing where she was going, just leaving, something she had thought about doing on various occasions but never had the courage to do, until now.

Coughing woke her up, as it did every fit her sister had. With a snort, Little Cloud tried to go back to sleep, but shuffling paws made that impossible. Cursing her mind waking up before her body, she knew that sleep had escaped her once more. Those purple eyes opened and looked around, quickly adjusting to the dark to see her smallest sibling heading for the entrance. Usually, Shahelda wasn't so... bold so it made Cloud worry a bit.
Getting to her own paws, she quickly caught up with the smallest one and pawed at her backside. "And where do you think you're going?" She asked with a cocky voice and a grin. Behind that, though, she was worried. Was she trying to leave the family? If so, why would she do that? Was it because she wasn't giving her any attention, or leaving her out of the fun so much? Big sister mode was kicking in, and Cloud didn't know what to do with all of it.
"Come on, Shah. Let's get back to bed with you! Mom's going to throw a fit." She attempted to get her sister back to the den and safe. Yes, Cloud was always, always worried about her small sibling; which is why she never let her do anything. She wanted no harm to come to Shah. Gotta protect her. 'cause no one else will, is what she usually thought to herself in situations like this.

The tiny cub jumped in suprise when her sister touched her backside, this made her loes her balance and fall. She landed on her stomach, legs sprawled out, without bothering to stand up, "C-c-cloud," She stuttered with suprise, "y-you sc-cared me." Shaking her head, she tried to clear the stutters from her voice. "I don't want to go ba-" A fit of coughs cut off the cub, and the dark cub could of sworn she tasted blood.
After the cub caught her breath after the coughing fit, she started again, the smaller cub's courage to leave suddenl vanished, "I-I-I," She repeated as she searched for an excuse, "I was thinking about those stories, that you, and Daddy, and the others alwas told me...." the tiny cub trailed off, not wanting to lie, but not wanting to tell the truth either. "I'm sorry," she whispered looking down, to avoid her second oldest sibling's eyes, a tear rolled down the weak cub's muzzle, hanging from her nose, before falling to the soft ground beneath her paws.It was followed b another, and that one was followed by another. The younger sister's body shook with each one, as she cried, for no real reason, except to cry.
((They can cry, right?))

She didn't mean to make her sister cry! Panic boiled inside Cloud's body as she attempted to soothe the little one, licking her face and head, moving up closer to her, pulling her into a hug with one of her front legs tugging her closer. "Shh.... Shah... it's alright..." She whispered into the smaller ones ear. Why was she even crying? It was to much for Cloud to comprehend.
The eldest started rocking her sibling back and forth, as if that would help her at all. Then the song their mother hummed to them sometimes came from her throat. It was off-key, but the tune was recognizable. Maybe that would calm the sick one down. "Hey... We can go play if you want. We can go to the creek, and I can teach you how to catch some fish..."
[I don't see why not? My dog cries.]

The little sister's tears turned into hiccups as the other sister tried to copy the familiar song, "Ohk-hic-ay, but I d-hic-on't know ho-hic-w to sw-hic-im..." She said in am unsure, but excited voice, moving into a sitting postition, bouncing with each hiccup. "I wou-hic-ld like to tr-hic-y and cat-hic-ch a fis-hic-sh," She told her sister, smiling. Finally the hiccups stopped but they were replaced a with another coughing fit.
This one was shorter then the other two but made the excited cub fall down, "I-I'm okay," she said, using the wall to help herself back to her paws, hoping that her sister really would take her to the creek, unstead of changing her mind, and making her go back into the den.

She tried not to laugh as her sister hiccuped, she really did. But it trickled out anyway and she had to calm down when Shah fell. Worried, Little Cloud nudged her to her paws again and licked her face, attempting to clean the fur where the tears had let a streak.
"You don't have to know how to swim in order to fish. Fish in the shallows!" She said with her brightest smile. Of course her weak little sibling didn't know how to swim or fish. It was up to the elder ones to teach her everything they knew, even if she wouldn't ever do them herself. "First thing first little girl, you have to walk with me to the stream!"
With that, Cloud stepped out and padded towards the stream.

The frail cub hurried to catch up with her sister, half leaning on the bigger cub, half walking beside her. The frail cub was able to keep up, or at least get Cloud to slow down. It wasn't long before she could pick up the sound of running water in the distance. "Are we almost to the creek?" She asked her sister excitedly, as she stopped leaning on her sister, and sped up to a light jog for her which was a little over the average walking pace for a healthy cub.

Her sister had an uncanny thing about asking the right questions when the answers were coming up. Indeed they were near the creek. Grinning from ear to ear, Cloud stopped and let her sister catch up fully before motioning ahead of them.
The creek was wide, but looked shallow and the water didn't rush, or looked like it rushed very hard. "I know for a fact I can stand in this stream and fish!" She said with a proud puff of her chest. Of course, anything she did would impress the little female. When Cloud thought about it, it greatly upset her that her sister was so sick; she wouldn't be able to enjoy simple things because of her heart. "How big do you want to catch?"

"That's amazing!" The smaller sister replied, "That you can keep from being pulled away by the stream, and catch fish at the same time." Her eyes sparkled, with awe and exicement, wich toned down a bit as she added, in a quieter voice, "I hope I can do it...."
"I want a fish big enough for Mama and Daddy to eat!" She said her eyes lighting up again as she realized the fish would have to be about as big as her, "Are there fish that big?" She asked, her coughs seemed to begone for the time being and hopefully would stay that way for the remainder of the fishing trip.

It really wasn't that amazing, the stream wasn't flowing that fast at this part. That's why she'd chosen it. Getting into position with her back feet spread, one front paw poised above the water, she glanced over to her sister and smirked. "You just trap the fish on the ground when I fish it out for you," she said with a chuckle. Cloud would show her sister just how big the fish got in these waters.
It took a while of silence and no movement before the fish trusted her enough to swim around her. A decent size fish caught her attention and she waited, poised and grinning. Quick as lightening her paw went into the water, batting the fish and she tossed it out of the water at her sister. "Catch it, catch it!"

Shahelda jumped on the fish to keep it from going back in to the water, her body moving with the fish as it flopped trying to get away, "It won't stay still!!" She called to her sister as she dug her paws into the sand and bit down on the fish's tail to keep it from escaping. She fought to keep the fish on land until its final breath. Then dragged its body away from the water. "I did it!" She exclaimed happily, "I kept it from going back in the water!!"
Then the small cub tripped and fell, her left forepaw twisted in a funny way, and the runt of the litter wailled, "Oww!!" She stood up and carfully placed her paw on the ground, almost instantly pulling it up again, as if the ground had tried to burn her paw. She looked at Cloud with unsure eyes that seemed to ask 'Now what?' Tears began to flood from her eyes as the thought of the pain set in

Just as Little Cloud was about to cheer her sister on, she saw her fall and twist her paw. With a wince and a worried look, the lighter sister moved towards the smaller, sniffing it and then frowned. "I'm sorry, baby..." She whispered softly, wanting to keep her sister from wailing to loud. If she did, then they'd be in deep trouble.
Biting down on her lip, Little Cloud looked around to try to find a way to ease her sister's pain. "Eat... the fish, sweetie. It might help with the pain? Just don't think about it. It happens to me a lot. Remember when I was limpin' not to long ago? Yeah. It doesn't hurt to bad if you don't think about it."

The runt did what her big sister told her, and began eating the fish. When it was about half way gone the pain had died down, "That was suppose to be for Mommy and Daddy..." Shahelda said mournfully. "Now we don't have one to take back to them..." The smaller sister backed away from the fish slowly, before flopping down in a laying postition and began to lick her paw, copying what she had seen her mother do when she got injured before.
Not really noticed by her clan mates, but the tiny cub often tried her best to memorize what others do to help pain and sicknesses, and if she wasn't so sickly herself, could probably grow into a wonderful healer of sorts.

"I'd rather you eat it and feel better," Clouds said truthfully before frowning a bit more. She moved over to the smaller sister and licked the top of her head and cheeks, making sure she was clean of all the fish. Really, her whole family over thought things. With a frown and a sigh, the lighter of the two pondered a moment on what to do.

"I'm okay..." Shah replied as she stood, carful not to put to much weight on the one paw, "Let's go home... I'll make up an excuse in the morning, so that you don't get in trouble," she told her sister before she turned and began to limp slowly toward the den, though her coughing returned, causing her to topple over, and blood drops to cover the grass in front of her. "Ohh.. They're back..." she said quietly, as she pushed bk on to her paw.
