You are now entering the final year of your Space Academy education. Whether you have been attending classes here for two years or ten years, there is no doubt that the task that awaits you will test the abilities and skills you have picked up and honed. Should you complete the task that has been placed before you, it is certain that the future that will be awaiting you will be very bright indeed.
★★★
Out of the ten available projects, as per the suggestion by your academic adviser, you have been assigned to Project Eridani. You and your fellow students have been given the task of fixing the orbiting space station as well as restart the revitalization process on the planet below. There is no time limit; however, the general allotted time is about a year. During the project, you may only contact the academy twice. After those two contacts, it will be presumed that you and your fellow students have abandoned the project. The academy will send ships to return you back to the school and no credit will be rewarded to any of the students assigned to that project. Any student who wishes to redo their final project will have to wait until the following academic year to apply for it.
★★★
Your shuttle will be leaving promptly at 10 AM on the first day of next academic year outside of the main administration building. It is suggested that all personal business be attended to before leaving for the project. Once you have left on the shuttle, no contact outside of project related business will be allowed. The allowed amount of personal belongings is limited to that of a 10 pound box. Your belongings will be looked through before departure and all inappropriate items (such as unauthorized weaponry or communicators) will be confiscated and returned once the project has been terminated or finished. All other items and amenities will be provided for once you reach your project’s base station.
★★★
Attached is a file that will provide you with the basic information that you will need during your work on the Station Phaethon and planet Eridani.

.:The Rules:.Be literate. Use correct spelling and grammar as much as you can. Little mistakes may occur from time to time, but if its obvious that you aren't trying, or if your posts just don't make sense... This RP isn't for you.
Follow the post size minimum. Each post should be at least two to three sentences long. Please avoid one-liners at all costs. The occasional one liner will be tolerated, but... If every post is going to be one line... This RP isn't for you.
Follow the rp format. This RP is written in third person limited and is in prose form. This means that you write your posts as if it were part of a story. You do not use action markers (such as :: action :: or * action *) while writing. When you are writing speech, you use " ", while thoughts should be posted in italics.
No God-moding You are only responsible for playing as your own character. Do not write out other characters responses if you do not have permission to do so. Likewise, if in a fight, be flexible and do not have your character automatically hit other characters or always dodge the attacks of others.
No metagaming. Please do not use information that you found out OOCly in IC situations. An example would be if the Main Bad guy's secret plan was revealed OOCly, but the characters themselves are unaware as to what it is.
If your character suddenly knows the answer, when there's no reason for them to know what it is yet... You are metagaming.
It should also be noted that thoughts should be treated with caution. As there will be no mind readers in this rp, no one will actually know what anyone else's thoughts are unless they are told. Therefore, please do not have your character suddenly know what another character is thinking unless the situation calls for it. Thoughts should be used more as a way to help guide a scene rather than be treated as actual dialogue.
Only use original characters. This RP is intended for ORIGINAL CHARACTERS ONLY. If you want to play as Cloud/Drizzt/Sailor Moon/*insert character from popular series here*, please find another RP to do so. If it turns out that you do get accepted as a character that is not of your own creation and I find out... You will automatically be booted from the RP.
Use the Dice Mechanics when fixing up the station. You'll find an explanation of those in the Mechanics post. Each problem that needs to be addressed will be listed in the status box in the post that details information about the station. Each problem will have the skill that must be rolled listed next to it.
Please note these mechanics are being implemented to insure that no one character will end up just repairing the entire station by theirself. You do not have the use these mechanics for dealing with in character drama between characters,
When stating facts as the result of Mechanics, follow these guidelines. No suddenly having the entire ship be fixed. No killing off other characters.
The change must be relatively minor and should make sense. Fixing up the main computer should not result in the appearance of a homicidal AI or the station suddenly blow up.
Failures should result in at least one negative fact.
I, Agent Sinistra, have the right to change the rules at any time. While I hope to not have to invoke this right, this is listed so that should you disagree with a future rule change... Well... You know that you have already been warned that it might occur.
Have fun! Does this need explanation? I hope not...

. razz layable Races:. Race Name: Human Origin: Earth Basic Appearance:... Look in the mirror? Strength: Possess a great deal of wealth and influence as a race, individual members of the race are incredibly unique and varied from each other Weaknesses: Not united as a race; Different factions of humans are often at odds with each other Background:Originally from the planet Earth, Humans have quickly gone from barely being able to explore their own solar system to exploring and taking control of hundreds of solar systems.
Humans, as a whole, control or have a great deal of influence on more than half of the explored universe. However, there is no "Unified" group that rules over the entire race. As a result, the numerous factions of Humans are often at odds with each other, and it isn't usual for war over resources to break out between different Human factions. Factions:
Earthbound: The descendants of humans who never left Earth. The Earthbound are typically one of two types- the first being people who are too poor to be able to leave the planet without a great deal of financial help. The second type are the people who, despite their wealth, feel that Earth is Humanity's true home. Regardless of which type, all Earthbound tend to have a sense of pride over being able to call their race's cradle and homeworld their home. While other human factions may look down upon them, the Earthbound that do leave Earth tend to be remarkable and incredibly skilled in their area of expertise. Atreides: A small but wealthy population that has managed to eek out a living mining out a strange, but incredibly useful mineral from the bowels of Mars.
Years ago, as part of an early attempt at terraforming, a small colony was sent to settle Mars when the attempt of terraformation appeared to have succeed. Indeed, the small colony did quite well for a few years, until it was realized that
Other: While there are a great deal of major human factions, there are just as many smaller factions that are still working towards becoming greater forces in the universe. Some are colonists from newly formed colonies on the frontier of space, while others may be the remnants of a once great crime family. Either way, the number of minor human factions are as varied as their people.

.:Mechanics:. Hacking - Used to fix computers, install new software, Reprograming
Mechanical - Used to physically fix computers and other mechanical objects
Biological - Used to raise plants, mend wounds, cure diseases, care for animals, etc...
Physical - Anything the requires a great deal of physical strength or dexterity without falling into any other catagory.
Resources - Being able to make due with what you have, finding resources where you least expect them.
Piloting - Ability use pilot a small vehicle around outside in order to reach other places of the station.
Example Problem S. Char is a crew member who has a 4 in his Engineering skill. He sees that there's currently an Engineering problem in the medical bay, so he decides to fix that problem. Thinking that he might be able to fix the problem using only three dice and wanting to further help the situation, his player only rolls three dice. Failure! Next Poster (( Fact: The Medical Bay lights have now gone out.)) As S. Char tried to fix the computer, it appeared as though something must have gone awry. At first, the lights flickered once, then twice... Without further warning, the lights went out entirely, leaving S. Char and anyone else in the Medical Bay in the dark. Other Character blinked in surprise at the overhead monitor. According to what she saw, the Medical Bay was completely in the dark. She waited a moment to see if it would perhaps change. When it didn't, she spoke into her communicator. "S. Char! What's going on in the Med. Bay? Everyone all right?"
