It was rather hard to stay asleep when the person next to you woke up and you were on one, small cot. Never the less, Uuni decided to pretend she was still out like a light.

It was partially because she wanted to see what Avery did first thing the morning, and partially because she was still quite tired. After she had fallen asleep the night before, there had been nothing but nightmares to fill her dreamspace. They must have been quiet, because she hadn't woken up to Avery holding her down or the sound of her own yelling. Not that she'd ever done that, but she'd heard of people doing similar things before.

Funny things, dreams.

For now, she was still not dressed and not really awake. She'd taken the place of Avery when the girl had left. The spot on the cot had been warm at the time, and she'd naturally gravitated to it in her half-awake state.

After awakening for the second time, she'd had a relapse. She wasn't going to tell anyone, but she realized she'd done this before. This non-platonic, not after sex, cuddling with a girl not that much unlike Avery. The room wasn't familiar, but the feeling was.

The idea of there actually being some merit in Avery's words was astounding. What had happened and if someone had been that important, how could she forget?

The wall was great for asking questions. It wasn't very pretty, but it was the only thing she wanted to look at.

It was still quite early. Before chores and before lessons, and Kess had found herself unable to sleep. Up and about with the sun, she'd spent awhile with Condoroth before deciding it was time to talk to Avery. The dragon, of course, was still asleep, as Kess didn't think it fair to deprive the green of much needed rest. They'd had a rough time the day before, after all.

Now, though, she carried a breakfast pastry and a mug of klah, ducking into the Candidate's quarters and entering a very familiar room. Of course, the sight before her wasn't familiar. Uuni? She was clearly staring at the wall, and well, Kess wasn't the type to just leave. This actually made things a bit simpler, as she could find Avery at any time, but not Uuni.

Therefore, her "... Good morning," was quite soft, respectful, as she interrupted the brunette's thoughts, lifting the mug up to catch her attention. "... Klah?"

There was a person in her viewing space. Uuni moved her gaze up along the sideways picture. Normally she'd be going off on an inner monologue about ways to undress the girl, but now it was just a person in her space. Eventually her eyes met the lifted mug. From there, they moved to Kess's.

"I didn't expect to see you this early in the morning." It seemed she was back to her normal self as she yawned and sat up. The blankets fell from her shoulders and she slowly pulled herself from the cot and rose to her feet.

It was weird to see her clothes in a neat pile and . . . folded? Uuni looked over at Kess skeptically, but no, Avery must have done that this morning. Kess had just come in the room. Picking up her folded clothes one at a time, she shook them out and slowly put them back on.

"I'll have a sip," she answered when she had replaced her top garment. She followed through on these words, taking the mug and taking just a taste before handing it back. "You carried it all the way up here, and I don't think you carried it up here for me." She cast a light smile before settling on the edge of Avery's cot and putting on the rest of her clothes.

Kess shook her head, setting it on what passed for a 'nightstand' in the small room, her gaze carefully averted from Uuni's body.

"I carried it all the way up here for the person in this room, which is you." A short pause as she waited for the brunette to dress and she swallowed. "I've almost two candlemarks before my lessons, if I'm allowed to attend today, and I'd like to spend them talking to you, if that's alright."

The blonde held out the pastry, her dark, serious eyes meeting Uuni's. "I behaved inappropriately last night, and for that I apologize. You did not deserve it."

Once she'd finished getting dressed, she shrugged and went to get the klah that she'd been brought. Her guess was that it had been for Avery. Who else would be in this room that Kess would know about?

"Why wouldn't you be allowed to attend them today, Kess?" The confusion was obvious in her voice as she took another sip of the drink and finally took the pastry.

And wait, what? A whole two candlemarks? Could Uuni even talk that long? Did Kess even talk that much?

Uuni could not deny the fact that it was what she'd wanted the night before. A talk. A discussion. Something that hadn't involved Kesslan beating around the bush and looking for some way to make her friends feel guilty. Guilt had not what she'd been feeling.

"Apology accepted. What do you want to talk about?" She took a small bite of the pastry. "Do you want to. . . uh, go somewhere else?" It was a little strange staying in Avery's room without reason.

"... Sure." Kess was, of course, perfectly comfortable staying in Avery's quarters, but she could recognize Uuni's reluctance. The blonde answered her last question first, taking her time with the others as they began to walk out of the candidates' quarters.

"I need to start getting Condoroth ready, anyway." That gave them a direction to head and it was several minutes before Kesslan spoke again, voice quiet, neutral. "I was..." She searched for the word, then sighed and spoke bluntly, "Verbally thrown out of yesterday's weyrling lesson, and had to feed Condoroth kitchen scraps.."

She gestured to her shaggy haircut, which had, luckily, been modified from the bowl style yesterday. "We all received mandatory cuts.... He did Rin's to the roots." A strange laugh. "I had something to say about the manner in which he touched her."

A shrug. Of course, everyone knew how important dragons were to Kess, and therefore, how important lessons to care for them are.

Uuni nodded and stayed quiet as they walked. Instead, she contented herself with eating the pastry she'd been given and taking a sip of her klah every now and then. It had been nice of Kess to bring them for her.

"You have to get your hair cut?" Uuni asked in disbelief when she heard about it. I mean, it made sense - only in the way something that makes absolutely no sense does. Uuni ran some fingers through her own hair protectively. Well, its value was in the people it attracted, so she supposed once she did Impress, if she did Impress, she wouldn't need it after anyway.

Clearing her throat and shaking her head, she listened with furrowed brows. Kess had opened her mouth and gotten tossed, eh? Figures that the girl couldn't keep her mouth shut when she needed to, and couldn't be bothered to talk when Uuni wanted her to. They were talking now, at least.

"I guess it does look a little different," she mused as she looked over at Kess's hair. She fussed over it for a second and then shrugged. "You win some and you lose some. As long as you agree with what you did. . . despite the outcome. " She shrugged once more and finished off the pastry before licking her fingers clean of the sweet taste.

"Sounds kind of like the Weyrlingmaster has his head up his a**, but I guess you've got to be when you're dealing with little dragons like those from the Hatching. It will get better later, I'm sure. He was probably just scaring the rebels into their places." She grinned and gave Kess's shoulder a light squeeze. "A bit of a rebel yourself, huh?"
PostPosted: Fri Jul 31, 2009 11:16 am

"A rebel? Me?" Kess smiled and shook her head, welcoming the touch from Uuni. The poor girl was just loyal to a fault. "It was worth it, I was just disappointed in him." She'd rather be kicked out for standing up than have stayed and silently watch F'sey jerk Rin around.

"No, you don't. Weyrlingmaster F'sey had decided that our particular clutch needed haircuts. It's not a standard procedure."

Sighing as they approached the weyrling quarters, she nodded toward the area lessons were held. "He apologized, in the end, and so did I, before leaving, both for the manner in which we went about ourselves."

A frown. "I am very sorry for my behavior last night." Kess had been quite upset, indeed.

Uuni breathed a sigh of relief. She was definitely attached to her hair, and she would make darn well sure that she didn't piss off the candidate master. Having her hair cut was not on her to do list. If she ever Impressed.

"Everyone has been so apologetic lately. Makes me think I'm missing something." Taking her klah with both hands, she clung to the warmth for a time.

Yawning as if it were no big deal, Uuni shrugged. "You didn't decide to kill me, or Avery, and you're apologizing now. No big. But, really, what had you so up in arms?" She looked towards the girl with a slightly confused expression and narrowly avoided tripping over her own feet.

Kess's hand was there almost instantly to help steady her, though her eyes moved away from Uuni, hiding herself and her thoughts. This whole talking things out was new. Rin was in charge enough to leave Kess alone with her introspective thoughts, and Avery, well, she'd grown to know the blonde without words.

"I've never been particularly skilled at verbalizing my personal thoughts and feelings." As evidenced by that statement itself. Perhaps, like Razaphon had been suggesting, she really should see the mindhealer... A frown touched her full mouth and she sent a thought to Condoroth.

Love, wake up, it's time to get ready for our day.

Uuni took one look at Kess and chuckled. Shy? Kess? No. It couldn't be.

"There's no time like the present to start learning how," she pointed out. Humming under her breath, she took in a deep breath and let all of the upset from this morning wash out of her.

"I'll tell you a secret if you try. It will be good, I promise." She winked at Kess. They both knew how informative her last 'secret' was.

A highly amused, if suspicious look from Kess's guarded, dark eyes and she nodded slowly, a smile growing on her freckled face. Leading the way into her weyr where Condoroth was stirring, she collected what she needed to oil the dragonet, eyeing Uuni as she did so.

"... You tell your secret first, then."

The green stretched, almost like a large cat, fanning out her wings and trumpeting a semi-quiet goodmorning at the sight of the two girls.

Will we attend lessons today, Mine?

Yes, I promise we'll stay this time.

Uuni hadn't really expected that one. She put her hands on her hips and eyed Kess. Not fair at all!

That totally ruined all her plans, and now she had to think of something. "Um. . . " It was a great start. Really inspiring and secretive.

And then, all at once, she had it. "I was afraid I'd lost you last night." Her voice had dropped an octave. It was completely serious. "It might not seem like much, but remember who you're talking to. That's my secret."
PostPosted: Fri Jul 31, 2009 12:22 pm

Kess was quiet, not teasing the brunette or laughing, instead she just smiled and began to oil her dragon, a dragonet that was extremely pleased with the attention. When she spoke, her tone was a bit wry, hands running over Condoroth's shoulder.

"I'm hard to get rid of." As for last night... She frowned, eyes not meeting the other girl's as she inspected her dragon for dry patches. "... I felt disappointed, sad." For both the events in the lesson and in her weyr. "It just didn't feel right."

Oh? Had she lost a lover, too? Maybe it was a bug that was going around.

"Are you sure that just wasn't because of Avery? She's good at that 'it doesn't feel right' thing. She gets me with it all the time." Maybe she had some sort of supernatural powers that just sucked normal right out of people. Maybe that was why so many people frequented her tables.

"Were you disappointed in me? Avery? Both of us? You've got to help me out here, K'lan. So I don't do it again." The name was said with a teasing, fruitful air. It was not sarcastic or condescending. What reason was there to be upset? Yesterday had been shitty. Today wasn't so bad.
