Ren stepped out of the tram that came from the Main Dojo. He was wearing a backpack that had various medical kits and tools for combat. Ren waited outside the tram's doors for the other two.

((huh, I would've guessed the last statement meant we were there, but whatever))
Lina followed him, the only thing on her being ninja-tools, her sword, and lastly a small bag that might fit the width of her sword. She began a beeline towards the recently filled in earth and started to sniff.

Jin trots after Lina. He has his sword at his hip. And the energy-filled amethyst is tucked into a pocket sewn into the interior of his armor. Other than, that, Jin carries nothing.
The disturbed earth is easy to see. With a shrug, Jin crouches down and takes a handful of dirt in his hand. He can smell people. Metal, too. Might something have chipped off of the machine used to carry the stolen goods away? That question in mind, Jin starts to walk around in a half crouch.

((Lol oops, w/e.)) Ren did warmup stretches at the tram station while the others were looking for clues.
"Yeaa, alright."
He made his way over to his team mates, looking at the ground where they were inspecting.
Byakugan!
The veins around Ren's white eyes bulged and were clearly visible to everyone. He could see the path where the Earth Jutsu was used, even if there was a small trace of it left.
"Wow, they used a lot of chakra to tunnel away. This thing must have been huge."

She kept sniffing and slowly started off in the direction she believed they went, knowing one of the others would correct if need be.
"Yeah, it was about the size of one of the transformers, had a demon mask" she muttered, putting chakra towards her sense of smell.
"I take it they left a nice bright trail for you then?"

Jin stops searching to look back to his team mates. He hasn't been able to find any pieces of metal. Only the scent of it. Oh well. If the machine comes near, he'll know it. The dragon doesn't mistake one scent from another.
The man trots after Lina once more. As he moves along, he employs an air spy. A tiny ball of chakra forms in his hand. Then he sends it forth. As it moves, it will cycle air from its location back to Jin. It will carry with it sounds and scents. It will also act as a sort of feeler. When it runs into something, it can also transfer the feeling of running into an object. That way Jin can direct its course on the ground and even get a grasp for the shapes of objects before he encounters them. Very handy.
For now, Jin is uncharacteristically quiet. He wants to concentrate on what he's doing and let his team mates do so as well.

Ren followed behind Lina as well, she was heading in the right direction according to the underground trail.
"On track so far, lets pick up the pace."
Ren started to walk faster and was about to start running. His eyes were still tracking the ground.

She watched Ren and Jin. "I'll keep my senses open, but mostly we'll rely on you both till we're within a mile or so of the canister."
She looked around them, and keeping her senses open began to project small barriers under her feet before skating along the ground. Her mind beginning to focus on sensing energy along their trail.

"Ah'll let ya know if sommat is ahead o' us. Got some informants 'bout one hundred yards down our trail."
Humming a tune to himself, Jin just follows the two. Three air spies are now heading the team. He can't really detect deviations in the trail. That's the job of Ren, he supposes. All he can do is pick up the faint scent of metal coming from the ground. The scent is gradually strengthening. That says something. What he's really looking for, though, is any obstacles or threats. And, so far, he can't sense anything.
When Lina starts skating, Jin picks up his pace. It doesn't take much effort for him to run along with her. Keeping up with Lina and Ren won't be a problem. So he can keep concentrating on his current tactic.

Ren was falling behind. He just noticed that Lina and Jin were picking up speed. He started to sprint and tried to keep track of the tunneled dirt below them.
"Informants?"
Ren asked as he continued to search the ground in front of them.

If they continued down the path several minutes further, they would encounter a cave. The earth Jutsu's underground path stops there.
The scent of metal would seem tangible inside the cave if they reached it.

She listened curiously, continuing her movements.
"Using a clone technique?" she asked with curiosity in her voice.
Her nose kept twitching upon noticing the scent.

"Nope, no fancy clones fer me."
The scent of metal suddenly hits Jin in the face like a hammer. Something has changed. The spies haven't hit something. Rather, they seem to have entered something. The air is cooler, with the scent of earth as heavy as the scent of metal. Like feelers, the spies begin to creep along the ground to find roughly hewn walls and eventually a ceiling. Damp walls, that easily give way when pressed upon.
"Miss Kaze does nah have any clonin' techniques as o' yet, so she settles fer things she calls 'air spies'. Taught me 'fore Ah left the Dojo. Balls o' air that can quickly transfer scents, temp'ratures, an' even textures o' barriers. An' they've found sommat. Think it might be an entry er exit point. Keep goin', but be alert. Dead ahead o' us!"
Jin picks up his pace, passing Lina now. One hand is on his sword, just in case.

((I'm assuming we're traveling through a forest right?)) "Wow that's pretty nifty. No risk of being spotted exactly either."
Ren suddenly looks upwards as his Byakugan spotted a cave up ahead through the trees. They were coming up on it fast.
"Looks like a typical hide out, a cave."
He reached into the side pocket of his backpack and withdrew a kunai, holding it at the ready as they went closer.
