It had been days since Tukutu had returned the children to their father, and yet, Tukutu's mind kept returning to the memory. How gruff and strong Sakata looked, how... wild and dangerous, his spirit seemed to be.
In many of Tukutu's travels, she'd stumble across various types of characters. Some were righteous, others unsavory. None, however, held as much power and command as Sakata.
And that intrigued her.
She had decided, that day, that she would investigate this intrigue. So, as nightfall set in, she made her way towards the cavern known to belong to the royal family. While she normally had a plan mapped out, tonight she was just there for information... and perhaps a trick or two, if manageable. While Sakata would have to be quite wise, to have been able to hold on to his position for such time, Tukutu knew that every lion, every lion, was capable of being fooled now and again.
And she intended on making that happen!

These past few nights have been extremely restless and uneasy, on the homefront. Convincing Jini that it was a good idea to let the outsider remain within their lands for a time was easier than he'd thought it would be, especially considering their unfortunate encounter. But, overcome with guilt as she was at losing two of their cubs, the Queen was rather more pliable than usual. So Tukutu has been granted permission to guest within their lands (for now) and Kinimisa has been tasked with the additional responsibility of watching over the cubs even in their sleep.
So why is it that Sakata still hasn't had a good night's rest since then?
Instead of sleeping with his family, he is outside the den. Pacing. Every so often he glances in to see Kinimisa's sleeping form. To count the seven cubs that are also sleeping (if they know what is good for them!). He can only assume that Jini is further back within the den - she's been rather withdrawn lately, blaming herself for the near-disaster. And he's been doing his best to avoid blaming her, as well.
With a heavy sigh, the Warleader settles himself upon a rock outside the den, positioned so that he can watch the inhabitants and the path leading to it. He'll stay awake as long as he can, watching over them, keeping them safe.

She saw his form, as she crept towards him from atop the large cavern. While she probably should have approached like any respectable lion would, Tukutu preferred the element of surprise, so had flown herself on top of the rocks, an area no one would think a surprise visitor would come from.
And surprised Tukutu herself was, though, when she noticed the Warleader sitting out by his lonesome! What in the world was he doing out there, by himself? Was he that concerned over the safety of his children? But then, if that were the case, why wasn't he in the den, with mother and Minder?
Furrowing her brow, Tukutu debated. She knew Jinichongo and the Minder had to be in the cavern; whispers of how the Queen never left her children's side after that fateful evening had reached even the goddess's ears. So it was certain that they were in the den... which left Sakata to his lonesome outside.
She watched him, for a few minutes, as he lay quiet on the rock. Tukutu had to assume that he intended to sleep there for the evening, judging by how settled in he appeared to be. Now why in the world a Warleader was positioned outside, when he had a mate and a bundle of cubs to look after within puzzled Tukutu. Jinichongo must have had something to do with it... could she have banished Sakata from the den, after he told her about Tukutu's evasion?
Anger began to rise from within, though Tukutu could not determine why she was upset. If it was true that Jinichongo shunned him for something so petty, then she clearly did not deserve such a magnificent lion!
The idea came swiftly into Tukutu's mind, an idea fueled by mischief and hormones that had gone too long unsated. Crouching low, Tukutu felt her body begin to shift, slowly growing larger, her weight increasing slightly. Letting out a throaty laugh, she tested her new vocal skills before hopping down upon the rock directly towering above Sakata's perch, making her presence known.
If Jinichongo didn't take advantage of such a male, then she would!

The laughter startled him out of his fitful half-doze, a skill he learned while still a Warrior and honed over the years. Half-asleep with his eyes open and ears perked, awake just enough to notice movement and sounds while his mind and body rests. So his first reaction to the noise is a hitching of his breath and a low growl - nobody should have been able to sneak up on him like that!
And then, a combination of confusion and shame. Jini? Jini is the one who snuck up behind him, when he was keeping guard? How could she do that, how could he let himself be so careless that she could do that? He coughs, quietly, and glances towards the den. The cubs and Minder are still asleep, he hasn't woken them with his startled exclamation.
"J-Jini, wh--" he begins, then clears his throat and continues in a whisper. "I didn't expect to see you out here." How the hell did she get out here, behind him? And why, why isn't she sleeping with the cubs?
"Having trouble sleeping?"

"You could say that," she answered slyly, keeping her voice low. How the Warleader interacted with the Queen was still a mystery to the mischievous goddess, but Tukutu was willing to bet that the b***h was without a doubt the bossiest and witchiest creature in the pride.
And it was time to change that.
"I...I have a confession to make, Sakata." She started, moving to draw closer towards the large male, mindful to keep her head low, an act she was sure the Queen was unaccustomed to doing. While she was larger than her typical mortal form, she still was quite small in comparison to the enormous Warleader. She could feel the warmth of his body as she drew closer, mindful to keep her side from touching his, as she turned around to look up, as mournfully as she could, into his eyes. "The other night... I'm... I'm sorry. I blame myself for the whole situation, it was my fault."
Acting had always come easy for the prankster goddess, so it was not long before crocodile tears began to well up in her eyes. "Sakata, I cannot thank you enough. I would be in shambles, if it were not for you."
Lowering her head as she feigned a sob, Tukutu hid a small smile. Oh this was too good!

As his Queen approaches he rises from his sprawl, stretching muscles that are sore from anxiety and a lack of proper sleep. Her body language is... strange, he realizes, and despite himself Sakata begins to frown.
Her willing and deliberate approach is the first strange thing he notices - even after their 'truce' of sorts had been decided upon, he is still the one approaching her more often than not. But to approach with her head down, her eyes sad? This is even more bizarre than when she came to him in 'surrender' that first time.
"Uh..." Momentarily at a loss for words, Sakata finds himself in the strange position of having to defend the honour of his Queen... against herself. But he can't trust himself to speak, not at first, because part of him does blame her for the mess. Her for letting them sneak past her, and himself for not realizing that Kali'ari would be just that hot-headed. So he sighs and leans (carefully) against his mate, offering the physical reassurance that he isn't sure he can voice.
His voice quiet and intent, he lowers his head to rumble into her ears. "It's okay, Jini, please don't be upset. Everything is okay now."

A male with few words... well, that was unusual. But then again, with as strong and large as Sakata was, perhaps there was no need for an excess of words or explanations.
Appeased with his response, she pressed her weight more forcefully against his body, leaning into him as she momentarily enjoyed the physical presence of the other being. It felt good, Tukutu wouldn't lie, but she had a feeling that her intended goal for the evening would feel even better.
Moving to rest her head gently on his shoulder, she whispered into his ear, "I know I haven't been the most... amiable of mates. But please, let me make up for it, Sakata? We could.... we could start tonight, if you'd like?"
While Tukutu was very outgoing, her role for the evening was most definitely not. She knew the Queen was a proud female, so to further confuse the poor male, she moved to press her face against his warm shoulder, burying her face against him as she let out a small, uneasy laugh. Muffled by the fur, she shook her head. "But... I'd understand if you'd rather not. I've been so distant in the past... I'm not sure I'd even appeal to you anymore."

His ear twitches as if a bug has landed upon it when she whispers, and for a moment his mind wanders - wasn't that his trick? But it works on the Warleader as well as it had worked upon his Queen, and he is rather quickly warming to the idea... and to her.
"Tonight?" The surprise he feels at her... proposal... is rather plainly evident as his voice rises dramatically in pitch before he remembers where he is. Then he flicks a glance towards the sleeping cubs, before turning to press his forehead against hers. His voice thickens, deepens, and he rumbles, "Not appeal to me? You know that could never happen."
And if Tukutu had been lucky enough to share Jini's memories of the time after her 'surrender' she'd know that he spoke the truth. He had certainly done his best to make up for lost time, as it were, and to show her exactly what she'd been missing. In Sakata's mind, tonight is proof that he succeeded in his goal.
"I'm not sure this is the right place, Jini, but any time you want... to be together, that is the right time for me."

She was thoroughly enjoying his reaction, and it was easy to assume that the great Queen Jinichongo was most definitely holding back physical affection from her mate. Which, really, was her loss, judging by the willingness and sheer size that Sakata possessed.
Forgetting herself and her disguise, Tukutu pushed herself forward and grabbed at Sakata's ear, nipping it roughly, but playfully. After giving it a teasing lick, she whispered back huskily, "I think this is the perfect time."
Wait. Location. s**t.
Tukutu froze up for a moment, quickly remembering who she was portraying and what she was doing. Was the cave that the cubs slept in Jinichongo's? Did Sakata even have another cavern to himself? She thought she recalled hearing at one point that the royal leaders had slept apart, prior to the children's birth, but her mind was so overwhelmed with lust that she was having difficulty thinking straight. Is this what mortals had to deal with all the time? She'd never experienced such powerful urges, but then again, she'd never let herself be as tempted as she was now.
"Cavern," she cooed softly, using her head to nudge him in the general direction of where a few caverns lay, spaced out. Hopefully he knew of one, if not his own, that could be of use to them. The last thing she needed now was for the Queen to hear a noise and walk out to such a confusing act!

If losing their cubs is what it takes for this aspect of his typically-reserved mate to surface, well, Sakata would consider bribing Kali'ari to perform a few similar stunts in the future! Pleasantly surprised (among other things) by her boldness and the unusual turn of events, Sakata almost forgets himself. He leans in, running his muzzle along her jawline, and then nips gently at her throat. "I thought you'd never ask," he sighs against her fur, his breath warm.
At her suggestion he nods, grinning broadly. His personal den is still available; nobody else would dare lay claim to it. So the Warleader presses boldly against his Queen, running his body along hers and nipping at her flanks to turn her in the right direction. "I know just the place." He smirks, looking back over his shoulder before he leads the way.
She'll follow, he's sure of it. He's more sure of that than he ever has been. And it feels good.--fin--
