What is it about Korean and it's culture that intrigued you guys to begin with? I personally wouldn't know, being a korean myself. I suspect it might have something to do with our musicians and drama's. but maybe its deeper than that??

Don't hesitate to respond!▬☺♫♫

To begin with......
I wasn't interested in Korean/Korea because of what it is, if that makes any sense.
In January my school had an exchange student come to my school.
( Korean exchange student )
We became friends, and she left in March.
We send messages now but she has very little free time because of her school.
She wants to get in to a special high school ( I forget the name of it)
so she has work really hard to get accepted to it.
Both of her siblings got accepted to the special so there is a lot of pressure on her to get accepted.
I don't want her to have to spend extra time changing her message to
English since she already has a lot of things to do.
So I decided to learn Korean. That way she would not have to spend extra time translating her thoughts to English.

Let's see, i think many people misinterpret me when i say i love Korea. they think i just like the dramas and the hot guys. they''re partially right but there's so much more. I mean yes Koreans make the best dramas, have some pretty cute guys, and produce awesome music. However there's so much more i admire, its their language and their culture, their modesty and kindness. I love the way they speak and i believe hangul is the simplest yet most admirable form of writing. The Hanboks are ridiculously gorgeous. AND OMG THE FOOD. I am in love with Korean food. Everything from kimchi, and kimbap to ddeokbokki and patbingsoo. But most importantly its the culture. From he most elegant ceremonies to the fun festivals. Its a very family oriented culture where respect is a must. Its my paradise, somewhere where 6 years from now i plan to live and spend the rest of my life there because i know i can live peacefully and at the same time enjoy life to its fullest.

I wasn't really into Korean culture or things until late high school/ early college (just a year and a half ago). Maybe in early high school, I listened to a mixture of K-pop by various artists a friend gave to me for Christmas but that didn't really intrigue my interest. But a friend let me borrow some dramas and honestly, they were boring, but I liked the whole scenery of Korea and the language is such a different sound from what I'm used to hearing (Japanese, English, and Tagalog). It sounded elegant. I liked the fashions too when I started looking up Korean stuff for the hell of it. Come college, I met a lot of foreign exchange students from Korea and they were all so cool. I admired them for their personalities, intelligence, their flawless skin, and fashion. And, I met a Korean guy I liked too...so, it made me want to learn the culture (whether it was traditional or pop culture) so I can talk about the same things...but it's too bad they don't know any bands I talk about haha. But, their company and friendship inspired me to be more fashionable, to allow myself to feel good about my own skin (I didn't wear make-up but I felt incompetent to girls who did wear but not anymore!), and to visit Korea and learn the language and the culture. They really impacted my way of thinking as a young woman in college. I miss them a lot but I keep in touch with them haha.

Oh, and the food is awesome! I need to get used to the spicy stuff though haha.

I didn't really know anything about Korea until last year when I did an exchange there. It's amazing just how different Korea is, and I never knew! I just kind of fell in love with everything. It's hard to explain...

At first it's the dramas...but then that died down for a few years~
Then it's the music! I caught the Hallyu wave in Malaysia~
Then through that, I loved their dramas and movies again.
Then it's their variety show and language...
Slowly, I began to be interested in Korean culture...
So, I love Korea~

For me, its the music and drama; they are so awesome!
But yes, it is more than that.
I feel this personal connection between fans and the stars and I am totally drawn to their variety shows.
These people are hilarous xDD.
Their language is pretty fanscinating wink .
I have a feeling its a tad bit easier than chinese (thank god, I cannot handle anything harder than chinese; heck, I can't even handle chinese!)
But yess, it's pretty amazing xDD

At first, it was the manhwa, and that grew into a genuine interest in the language and culture. Dramas/music came later, followed by making Korean-themed works in my art classes, and then in my Senior year of high school I did my Senior Exit Project on Korea. Diving into research, I discovered how truly unique (and under-appreciated by the West) the Korean culture was. After all that, I was hooked.

I think the language interested me first. It's very beautiful to hear and see and looks much different from other East Asian forms of writing.
Interest in the language seemed like sort of a gateway into the culture.
