And our battlefield is...
Graveyard Field The stadium ceiling is shut tight in the particular field selection, covering the entire inner area of the stadium in a veil of pure darkness; one that even the Flash technique cannot break through. Grave stones of various types (ranging from crosses to a sculpture of the deceased) were scattered across the lifeless soil; some were still whole while many stood broken and unattended. Near the northern end of the battle field, a single withered tree stands hunched over as though in constant mourning of those who rest for eternity here. A dense fog weaves in and out of the headstones and hinders vision even more. The fog itself seems damp and heavy, like the tears of the living mourning for the lost. This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to GHOST type attacks.

Raina entered the stadium, a place that was quickly becoming like a second home as she prepared for her gym challenge. This time she was using Ayirwen who hadn't been in a battle for a long while. What was even better was that it was a battle with Raina's friend Jenette and Ayirwen would be battling with Venna. The two pokemon had fought twice in the past, a win for each of them, and this would be yet another rematch. Pressing down the button on her podium Raina watched as the screen flipped through all the fields a few times before coming to rest on one that Raina had never seen before, a graveyard. The trainer shuddered, it just didn't feel right to be battling over graves, that wasn't very respectful, but... she didn't really have a choice and she tried to console herself that they were just fake graves, no one was really buried here... right?
As Jenette entered from the other side of the stadium Raina grasped a pokeball at her waist and released Ayirwen who bobbed her head happily. Sliding out onto the field the pokemon looked around and cringed, something didn't feel right about this field, the fog and the darkness was eerie but she had a job to do and she couldn't let Raina down so the dewgong shook off her feelings and concentrated on the task she had to do. Win.

Why was she always late!? Jenette muttered a string of rather unplesent things as she hurried tot he trainer's box. She had been crossing her fingers for a good field again but as soon as she laid eyes on the graveyard field she grew wide-eyed and shuddered. Creepy. "Good job Raina..." She teased as she waved from the trainer's box. At least if they were going to be spending a lot of time together, they could at least be battling. Smirking she nodded to her vulpix who had been sitting patiently on the edge of the trainer's box.
As soon as Jenette nodded, Venna jumped to the field. She wasn't frightened, sure it wasn't very warm in here but she could sense the uneasiness of the dewgong. How she disliked Ayirwen. Flexing her paws in the ground before her, Venna though of her scar. That mark was from this dewgong... growling a little, Venna glared. She wasn't about to play nice.

As soon as the vulpix stepped onto the field Ayirwen was glaring daggers and slapping her tail on the ground. Oh how she disliked Venna, that vulpix had defeated her once already and she wasn't about to let it happen again.
Raina waved back as Jenette arrived and soon they were waiting for the battle to begin. "It's your move, good luck!" she called as she began to plot her strategy for the battle.

Jenette nodded, it had been a while since she had battled, but the flow was still there. She could feel the power of the battle seeping into her, the adrenaline rush that swept her up in its grasp.
"Let's do this V." She said calmly. With a nod of her head she let her Vulpix pick the first move, although time has told her which move she'd start with.
Sizing up her water-based opponent, Venna strengthened her stance and opened her mouth. With a deep breath she attacked with Fire Blast, the fire-character shooting towards her opponent.

Observing quietly Raina watched as Venna made her first move, fire blast, Raina could've guessed, it seemed that the little vulpix loved using that attack. She didn't bother to call out to her dewgong for she had already braced herself for the flames and when they hit she shook herself to get rid of them and waited for her command.
Raina pondered for a moment before calling out to Ayirwen "Use Aqua Jet!" and then she watched as her dewgong focused her energy and unleased a powerful stream of water directly towards the vulpix.

It may have not been a critical hit, but it was enough to make Venna angry. She growled as she glared at the Dewgong, she hated water.
"Quick Attack." Jenette said in her normal voice. There was no need to yell, for one this field didn't required loud talking... a whisper seemed to break through anything, but Venna and Jenette didn't need anything more than a normal voice.
Venna started running, jumping up on one of the tombstones she started running towards the dewgong, keeping atop the headstones.

Ayirwen braced herself again as the vulpix came at her from higher ground. This was nothing to be afraid of, she'd taken much worse hits before so when the vulpix collided with her the dewgong barely flinched.
"Use surf and clean this place up." Raina commanded as she watched Ayirwen shake off the effect of the impact.
Ayirwen repositioned herself so she had a good vantage point then unleashed a huge wave that overtook the whole field.

Surf. That meant water. Venna didn't need any commands to get out of the way of this one. She started making a rabid retreat, climbing atop the highest tombstone she could find. She watched as the water climbed to her, barely washing over her paws.
Jenette let out a sigh of relief and nodded to Venna.
Dashing across the headstones again, Venna made for another Quick Attack.
"You got it V." She said reassuringly.

Ayirwen slapped the ground with her tail angrily, how could she miss? She obviously needed to focus. As Venna came at her again she slid behind one of the tombstones which made her an awkward target for the little fox and once she felt the fox hit her tail she spun around and unleashed another surf attack.
Raina just nodded her approval as Ayirwen retaliated, she knew what to do when she was focused on her battle.

She may not like water, but at least she could swim. The wave had crashed over her, sending her gasping for air. I took a short while for Venna to find the surface which she broke and took in a big gulp of air before diving under the water. Using her tails as propellers, Venna darted towards Ayirwen, using Payback.
Jenette nodded her approval. She knew Venna was getting tired, but what can a fire pokemon do under water?

Ayirwen saw Venna coming towards her and waited till the last possible moment before leaping gracefully out of the water and landing again behind the fox. As the wave cleared out of the field Ayirwen unleashed another Aqua Jet attack. She knew how to battle this fox and she was sure she didn't need Raina's commands to get an advantage over Venna.
Raina watched and nodded her approval as Ayirwen countered Venna's attack. Now... what was she here for again? Oh, right... pokemon needed a trainer to use the stadium.

The stadium was dryer now, little puddles of standing water across the field. Venna hurt, she could feel water in her fur... disgusting. She was tired, but there was no way she'd let this dewgong beat her.
As soon as she had realized she missed (she was a rather terrible at aiming in the water), she had jumped up to a tombstone again, only to jump behind it as the stream of water came shooting towards her.
Jenette smirked as she watched Venna's eyes grow black. This was the newest attack they had been working on...
Venna's eyes were growing black as well as a black aura seemed to surround her. As she opened her mouth, a giant black ball of pulsing dark energy formed. It was only a split second before she sent the Dark Pulse attack shooting towards Ayirwen.

Raina watched as the vulpix charged up for a dark-type attack and she looked questioningly towards Jenette, since when had Venna learned this? Ayirwen attempted to dodge the attack by hiding behind a tombstone but the dark energy encircled everything in it's path and hit her hard.
After a few moments Ayirwen regained her bearings and started towards the little fire fox. "Use Water Pulse!" Raina called and upon hearing the command Ayirwen focused all her energy into the attack and unleashed a huge ring of waves out from her body in all directions. Certainly she couldn't miss the little fox now?
