Althea hummed cheerfully as she watched the fish in the small pond she had found in the forest. She had been traveling for days now and it was time for a little break from her duties. She was a healer and a very good one at that. She felt that it was her duty to walk through the lands healing those who needed it and helping anyone in need. She frowned as she thought about how many she had come across that had been attacked by the evil Soquili in the lands and it distressed her a little. So much evil and it seemed that there was so little good to balance it out. Shaking her head, she pushed the horrible thoughts away. It was time to think positively and to relax, not to dwell on things she really couldn't change.

Selena walked thought the the shadowy forest. It was mid day. But thankfully cloudy. It gave Selena the freedom of walking around without fear of heat stroke and possible headaches. The slight wind was cooling and the leaves around her danced in it. The grassed bowed, as if showing her respect. As if she was a brave, young warrior returning home from battle. But she wasn't.
She was young and a warrior and she had just finished battle. But she wasn't returning home. Home meant teepee, and teepee meant annoying singing from Rockstar. That was the last thing she wanted. He would not only welcome her with song but he would also do his silly Oh-my-what-happened-to-you-you-have-scars! face. She did have scars. Her upper lip was cut and she was covered with scratches and bruises. Her flank was also bleeding, making her wince slightly every time she put pressure on it.
She had just finished her long and exhausting sparing match with a young mare named Broiso. And even though her lip throbbed, Selena smiled at the memory of the fight. it was a good one.

Althea continued to contently watch the fish as they swam in lazy circles and not really caring about what was going on around them. "Oh, how lovely it must be to be a fish and not have a care in the world." she said a bit dreamily. Then her ears caught a faint sound of hooves and the pink mare looked about to see if she could see who it was that was coming her way. She was excited, to say the least, to have company. It was always a good thing to make new friends. At least to her it was. She waited patiently for whom ever it was and hoped that they were friendly.

Selena kept walking. Her leg began to bother her more and more, but she was not yet limping. She just kept thinking, It is just a basic injury, it will heal soon enough, no need to get upset. She had changed her coarse from going nowhere in particular to going towards a mineral spring in the deep part of the forest. Selena knew that the mineral rich waters would help not only her leg but also the rest of her battered body. She turned right near a large oak tree. She was so deep in her thoughts and memories she had not even heard, or realized, the hoof steps of the other Soquili until she was face to face with her.

Althea smiled brightly at the other mare as she finally realized that she was about to run into her. "Hello there!" she said cheerfully and looked the mare over noticing that she was bruised and cut all over. "Oh my! Are you alright? Where you attacked?" she began to question and then caught herself and reminding herself that was a rude thing to do. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be so intrusive and rude. My name is Althea and I can help you if you need it and want it." she said very politely and hoping that the other mare would let her help.

Selena backed up a few steps. The sudden introduction was a bit much for someone who was half-limping through the forest a moment ago.
"errr..." She stumbled with her words. Then she heard the mare's apology. "There is no need to apologize. And as for my wounds, I will be perfectly fine. Just going over to the mineral spring." She said, still in a bit of an Awkward position.
She backed up a bit more, so that she could turn back onto the path she was following before. "Well then...Ill just be on my way then."

Althea mentally scolded herself for being a little over zealous with her introductions. She should have known that she would have scared her off. "Wait! Please don't go..." she said to her as her voice began to go soft. "Please let me help you." she really hoped that the mare would let her. It was her duty after all.

Selena blinked and sighed. "You don't give up easily do you sweets?" She smiled and nodded, "Go ahead, but seriously, it is not that bad. I am fine." She smiled.
"And Im Selena."

Althea's smile brightened at the mares acceptance of her help. "Nope! It's my duty to heal others and help them in any way that I possibly can." She said cheerfully as she went about healing the mares wounds. They were not all that bad like she had said but it made the pink mare feel useful and productive, even though she was suppose to be relaxing and on a break.
"There! All done! By the way, it is a pleasure to meet you Selena. It's been a while since I have met anyone that needed my services." she said and stepped back from the mare. It hadn't taken her long since the wounds were not all that bad like Selena had said.

When the pink mare was finished healing and taking care of Selena's numerous scratches and bruises Selena smiled slightly. It felt nice, it felt kind of warm and relaxing. She stretched out her leg, the one that had the worst wound. It felt fine. She smiled at the mare.
"Your duty you say? Are you a healer than?" She wondered what it would be like to have to help others. Boring... she answered herself.
"Well thank you for your services, I feel much better." She still wanted to go to the springs though...And it felt a bit awkward with this mare, she seemed too bubbly for Selena.

She continued to smile and nodded at the others question. "Yep, just like my mother before me and her mother before her. Though unlike them, I chose to wonder the lands offering my services instead of staying home with the herd and healing them. I figure there were enough healers there to take care of things without needing me while everyone else in the lands couldn't be as lucky." she said simply.

Selena frowned. But it was not an angry or sad frown. It was an approving and surprised frown. Her eyes opened wider. "That is quite..." the word was foreign in her mouth, "..Nice, of you." It was, leaving her family to help complete strangers just because they would thank her? Wow.
"Err...would you like to accompany me to the springs?" it felt like Selena owed a debt to this mare.

Althea was a bit confused at her new friend's frown but her comment didn't make her seem like it was a bad one. "Thank you! Some have told me that I was pretty much crazy but I don't think so." she said matter-of-factly. Then she became curious about the springs that were mentioned. "There are springs around here? I haven't wondered far enough to see any springs. I would love you accompany you!" she said excitedly.

Selena gave the mare a small smile. "To me it comes off more as...selfless..." She admitted.
She began to think of how she had stumbled upon a set of hot springs near the mountains, but still in the deep part of the forest. The water smelt of old eggs, but it felt amazing. And it did wonders of injuries of any size.
"Then follow me." She said and began walking towards the thicker part of the forest, following her previous path.

Althea smiled back and quickly followed after her new friend. She was excited to see these hot springs. She had heard that sometimes they held healing powers of their own and she wanted to see if it was true and if she could possibly use it to add to her own healing abilities or not. "So do these hot springs of yours have healing powers? I heard that some of them do but I have never come across any of those ones yet." she commented.
