"ATTEEEEEEEEEEEEN-HUT!"

Still blurry-eyed and drained from a rude 4 AM wake-up call, campers stumble out of their cabins and into... okay. Who made the interns dress the camp in barbed wire?! Was that a missile that just went overhead?!!

Chef wasn't in his normal outfit either. Camouflage complete with battle fatigues, boots... Yeeah, this was totally going to suck guys.

"A'ight! Here's yo rations for the day --" Chef reached beside him and threw each camper a biscuit. It was rather hard, but amazingly still chewable. Guess they weren't authentic war biscuits after all, ha!

"Chris is gone for some awards ceremony, so ah'm in charge! Beavers, one of yer fellow teammates somehow snuck into Chris' bags and is with 'im and Sanderson the intern, so ye're gonna be one short."

"On a better note, here's yo challenge for the day." Any elation over the fact that Chris wasn't here or the imitation biscuits quickly faded away to reveal an obstacle course. There were four parts to it, and the occasional explosion and column of smoke in the background didn't look too encouraging.

"Now lissen up! Ah'm only gonna say the rules once!"

LISSIN UP MAGGOTS!

Yer host ain't here at th'moment: ah am. For this challenge yew will refer to me as 'Master Chief sir!' yew got it?

YOUR ORDERS FOR TODAY'S CHALLENGE

Objective:

 • There are FOUR obstacles total each camper has to go through.
 • The obstacles must be completed in order. (Wire Crawl, then Cliff Climb, then Gator Pit, then Beaver Balance.)
 • Even though each one requires you to roll a certain dice, you must also post a paragraph of RP with it -- four sentences minimum with each roll. If you post less than four sentences or use an *shudder* emoticon with each roll, you WILL get disqualified. You may, however, roll using an emoticon and edit your post to write an RP pose based on if you succeed/fail, however.
 • *ALSO* Keep your RP and rolls together, please. If you're trying to cross the wire crawl, RP going under the wire and editing a success in. Don't post an RP post for the Beaver Balance when rolling for the wire crawl -- don't make this thing complex! x_x You can add in your success at the start of your next roll, but the meat of your RP post MUST be about the challenge you're rolling for!
 • If you roll a number matching the Special numbers below, you have failed the course. This simply means you did not pass it on your first try. Keep rolling and RPing until your camper passes the challenge. Ie, for the first obstacle (the wire crawl), you may move onto the next unless you roll a 2 or 4. If you roll either of these numbers, you must do the wire crawl again until your dice roll does not match a 2 or 4.
 • You only need to reroll for that particular obstacle. If you mess up on the Gator Pit, you do NOT need to do the Cliff Climb again.

Victory Conditions:

 • The winning cabin will be the one with the smallest average of failures.
 • You can re-run the course again and again to a maximum of five times.
 • While a camper who does the course more than once has a higher chance of getting more failures, they do have a better chance at something else. 100% immunity, anyone?
 • Immunity is granted to the camper who gets the least amount of failures overall. They do not have to belong to the winning team.

THE OBSTACLES

The Wire Crawl:
Campers must get down in the dirt (or mud, depending on where they're crawling, heehee!) and squeeze/squelch their way to the other side. The fact that the air's whistling overhead doesn't make standing up such a good idea...
Dice Rolled: One 10-sided
Special: Roll a 2 or 4 and you need to repeat the course.
Suggestions for RP: Piece of clothing get stuck? Stuck in the mud? Maybe they stood up and got hit with a flying projectile? >3 Projectiles can be pingpong balls, water balloons, or imported snowballs.

The Cliff Climb:
Yep. It's a bloody cliff, and no smart campers can simply walk around it. They need to climb up it without the assistance of tools of any sort -- at least there's mattresses strewn about to land on, just in case someone falls. But... it can't be just a cliff, can it?
Dice Rolled: One 20-sided.
Special: If you roll a 2, 9, 17, or 19, your camper triggers a hidden land mine and gets thrown back! Luckily they manage to land on a mattress without harm (horray cartoon physics!). But... they need to climb up. Again.
Fun fact: No, your camper will not miss. There's a team of interns running around carrying a mattress just in case a camper does fly to a non-mattress area, but they'll always be caught. There won't be any camper-shaped holes here. :V

The Gator Pits
The alligators from the previous challenge are back for more! Well, that's a lie -- the gators that waited in the areas campers never ventured to are here for some action of their own. Campers need to grab a rope and swing across the gator-infested pond, avoiding their snapping jaws and making sure their grip doesn't slip on the rope.
Dice: One 10-sided.
Special Roll a 7 or 8 and you need to redo it.
Suggestions for RP: Camper's grip slipped? A gator lunged up and caught the camper? They intended to jump from the rope to the other side and jumped too early? Or did their rope snap when they first swung on it, or did they miss grabbing ahold of it completely?

The Beaver Balance:
It's a hollow log that campers have to walk across. Below it is a colorful ball pit, much like the ones seen in kid-only areas where adults and teens cannot go to play. Doesn't sound like too much of a hassle... except someone's manning the seagull gun. Picture a machine gun, except change the ammo to seagulls. Campers get to dodge that and the territorial beavers. Yay!
Dice: One 10-sided.
Special: Reroll if you hit 1, 3, 4, or 9. 10 means that the log has collapsed, and you need to reroll. The log will not collapse with any other number.
Suggestions for RP: Got hit with a seagull? Someone else knocked you off in their haste to get across? Or maybe someone's foot went through the log, and the beavers tail-slapped for sweet vengeance and in a dazed state the camper fell off? >3

FAQ

~ How many times are we required to do this?
~~ Once. If you do it more than once (up to five times), you are eligible for immunity.

~ Immunity?
~~ Means your camper can't be voted off. Lasts until when your cabin has to vote someone off. If your team wins, you can't be voted off until after the next challenge your team loses.

~ How do I get the prize again?
~~ Do the challenge as many times as you feel like, up to five times. The person who can get through the obstacles with the least amount of failures wins. You get bonus points if you fly through one run of the course with no failures.

~ Why aren't there any helpful pictures?
~~ Maru got lazy, stfu. :c

~ Where's Chris, Scott, and Vert (Beaver camper)?
~~ They're at a con IRL, and will be back sometime later dudes. Got questions? Poke Marushii/Chef Hatchet, or contact her on AIM at MasterChiefh8su.

~ D-do I have to do this?!
~~ You can always opt out. Be sure to post this:
HEY CHEF-MAN! I'M OPTIN' OUT OF THIS CHALLENGE SO THERE.

Keep in mind that if you opt out, you'll have to face the consequences... ie, no eligibility for the prize OR a chance to change your mind. Once you opt out, you're out. Capeesh?

~ Must I write four sentences with each post?
~~ Yes. This challenge is all about endurance -- both for the camper AND the player. This even is meant to piss you off. If you don't write the minimum required sentences from when I gave my first and only warning? I'm not counting it.
I am making offline notes as to who is fulfilling the minimum and who isn't. Also, if you go back and edit your posts I will know -- the Guild Log makes note of it. Also, don't rush the challenge -- this will be open until Sunday or Monday (Aug 2nd or 3rd), so there's plenty of time.

~ So I rolled one of the numbers listed... What do I do now?
~~ If you hit one of the numbers listed, it means you failed the course and have to repeat it. You reroll. You can not skip it and go on.

~ I still don't get wtf I'm supposed to do!
~~ Reread this post and look at what the other campers here on the first page have done. If you still don't get it, PM Chef Hatchet and I'll do my best to explain it.

~ Am I still eligible for immunity if I just run the course once?
~~ Yes. Am ah going to give more details? No.
It's yer call if you want to do it once or five times, or somewhere in-between. The more times yew run it, the higher yer chance for immunity rises. After all, ah won't punish you for running it just once.
Your teammates might, though. :V

~ Why aren't the number of failures listed on the scoreboard?
~~ 'Cause ah don't wanna tell yew.
OOC: I don't want campers voting someone off just because the RNG decided to hate them on a particular obstacle. It's all about luck. Added to that, if you vote based on failure... You, the player, can see the failures. Your camper cannot. Therefore, voting due to that is bringing OOC to IC.
And may the interns take pity on you if I catch any OOC bleeding into IC. I won't tolerate it. Period.

User Image Considering she hadn't slept well that night due to nightmares of... well. Hatchet with a Hatchet and Rocky Horror Puppet Show, it wasn't terribly difficult to get Annabel out of bed. She'd be regretting it later most likely, but now? Now she was on her second wind, motivated to finish the challenge out of fear and adrenaline. God, this was like bootcamp or something- the way Chef was addressing them, though? Probably what the larger audio was going for. Groaning as she hit the ground, Annabel quickly attempted to worm her way under the wirecrawl, regretting anything she'd said about Chris the night before.

Bloody hell, she actually MISSED the host right now. God help her, she'd finally lost it. Hopefully, whenever the hell he turned up again, she could at least tell him that his challenges were humorously devious?

This? This was straight up devious. Crawling onward, Annabel tried to keep her thoughts on surviving this damn thing.

User Image Oh holy s**t. Ears pinning back in horror and whimpering, Annabel stared up the face of the Cliff in terror- heights? SERIOUSLY?! Goddamn, could she go back to the wires? This... this was insane. For crying out loud, she was the quiet loner stereotype- not the thrillseeker. Hiking? She could do hiking. Bellycrawls? Managable, apparently. But this? ...God, she was REALLY starting to hate Chef's challenges.

Growling under her breath and rolling up her sleeves, Annabel took a firm grip onto the cliff, hoisting herself up and scurrying away. She'd already taken on one of these damn things- no sense in looking back now.

..Hopefully, Simon- wherever he was- would be doing alright on his own with this..

Ducking out of the Sharks' cabin, Ariel barely tasted breakfast as she wolfed it down. It was food, it was nominally edible, and it was fuel for whatever had been cooked up for the campers today. And...oh god she had to crawl through the mud. She didn't make it more than a few feet before a water balloon smacked into her face, splashing water over her glasses and rendering her half-blind. Rubber balloon-bits weren't very easy to see through.

User Image When she'd hit the top of the cliff, Annabel had taken a moment to stop and simply breathe- that'd definitely pulled at muscles in her side the wrong way. Thinking, in her idle moment, she figured this whole damn course would've been a LOT easier if she hadn't have been bruised in the side. But, then again, what could you do? Wiping the sweat from her brow as she steadied her breathing, Annabel drew a deep breath- charging onward for the Gator Pits.

...AWW, s**t, GATORS? Trying not to look down, Annabel growled in frustration. Christ, what all dangerous animals were they going to use here?! Probably any they could get their paws on, thinking about it. Shoving the mental images of an Elephant Wrangling challenge from her mind, the girl only paused to tense- lunging for the rope, and attempting to swing across in a beautiful Tarzan tribute.

And really? She didn't want to be Gator Chow again.

User Image ozzie managed to make his way over to the wire crawl area. he felt like completely retreating at this point, but he knew he had to try his best in order to help his teammates as much as he could after what happened to poor jennifer. he sighed and wiped his teary eyes, then squatted down onto his stomach and started crawling. at least here he could move around, as opposed to when his brothers played "bearskin rug" at home. he made it a few feet...then his pack got snagged on the wires above. "oh effin cripes!" he exclaimed, exasperated. he was able to wiggle free, but coud only manage to do so by completely backing out of the obstacle course.

User Image OH HELL YES. TARZAN, KING OF THE JUNGLE? STEP ASIDE- ANNABEL MIGHT'VE HAD THIS WON. Taking a moment to do the worst semblance of a victory-jig ever- complete with wing-flapping and diving dance moves, Annabel grinned at the Gator Pit below. No more chowing down on this little camper! Steadying her breathing as to not devolve into a fit of snickers, Annabel stretched for a moment- then turned to face the Beaver Balance. Not horrible, right? This thing didn't look too horrible.

Hopping up onto the log, Annabel quickly began scurrying across. This... wasn't too bad! This wasn't bad at a- SQUAAAAAAAWK. Ducking what seemed to be a flying Seagull with a YIPE! of horror, the girl moved to finish this thing a LOT faster.

They were shooting. SEAGULLS. AT CAMPERS. THERE WAS SOMETHING TERRIBLY WRONG WITH THAT IMAGE.

Shaking herself off, Ariel dove back into the wire crawl. Wriggling beneath the barbed-wire strands, she flattened herself to the ground whenever a projectile came remotely nearby. Something...was that a snowball?...whizzed dangerously close, but to Ariel's relief it was a near-miss. Scooting beneath the last strand, she stood up and did her best to brush off the worst of the dirt.

(ooc: lmao! poor ozzie)

(ic:)

User Image ozzie moved over a few feet, then squatted down again, and attempted to go through the field a second time. he got a few feet further, when he felt a tugging on his tail. he glanced back and saw a small tangle of fur caught on one of the lower-jutting barbs. "criiiiipes!" he exclaimed again. "why do these things keep happening to me?" he sighed, and backed up a second time. he worked the knotted tail fur free from the wire, scooted out of the course and prepared himself for try number three.

Glancing up at the cliff, Ariel hesitated. She hated heights...but she couldn't let the Sharks down. If they lost again, it wouldn't be because of her! Gritting her teeth, she pulled herself up the cliff with surprisingly little mishap.

User Image ozzie took a deep breath, got on his stomach once more, then scooted through. he made a conscious effort to keep his tail tucked down and arched his back down to keep his pack lower. he went slower this time than on his previous attempts, which seemed to pay off. after several moments, he finally emerged on the other side. while relieved he made it through, he knew he already hurt his team with his two failures. sighing, he advanced on to the next challenge.

Gators again...well, at least she wasn't trying to find hidden rocks. This was just like swinging into a pond, only you were grabbing onto another rope instead of flying into the water. Rope to rope to rope...ack! Nearly losing her grip, Ariel stared down at the snapping jaws she'd nearly fallen into. Note to self: pay attention.

User Imageozzie glanced up at the cliff face, feeling a twinge of confidence. while he disliked coming down from heights, interestingly he didn't mind the journey upwards if he was starting from the ground. goodness knows he had enough practice climbing trees to hide from his brothers! he wiped the last bits of slippery mud from his paws, hunkered down against the cliff face, and scaled it relatively quickly.
