City Streets Field

Broken tar and faded yellow lines make up the “street” that runs down the exact center of the battle field. On either side of the road, sidewalks with pieces of concrete here and there are broken off while “building walls”, set with windows of sugar glass and rotating doors are placed on one side of the street. On the other is a broken down building with barred window and a boarded up door. Faint traces of grim and much cover the walls of both “buildings” while trash cans and trash bags decorate the street; some are torn open with their contents spilled out while others are not. A sewer grate nearby continually pours a stream of fog into the air while, on the corner near a crossroad, a phone booth is seen. The phone, hanging off the hook, makes a continuous busy signal. Dying and dead bushes line the building sides while occasional breezes blow the dead leaves onto the sidewalks and road.

This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to POISON type attacks.

Disgusting oders filled the air and trash littered the battle field as a new trainer stepped into the stadium. Looking around, Shelly felt displeased with what the randomizer had given her. Every couple of steps you would literally be walking on garbage and the air reeked of unknown substances. She didn't complain much though because this was her first battle with her own Pokemon. Excitement ran through her at the thought of seeing her Breloom in action and she was sure that he was just as excited as she was.

After stepping into the trainer box marked upon the ground in the middle of a road that desperately needed constructional attention, Shelly flipped open the flap of her black messenger bag and reached inside a separate pocket on the front. Wrapping her fingers around a small Poke Ball and gently pressing the center button, she smiled and watched it as it doubled in size.

"Okay, Olive. Let's get ready." The artist let the red and white ball roll off her finger tips and up into the air. As it opened and shot out a stream of light, it took the form of her new Breloom.

"Breloom!" Olive settled upon the dirty street and looked around the battle field. Indeed he was just as excited as his trainer but the flow smells had to go.

All was left was to wait for their opponent to arrived.

[Okay. So, state your intro and roll a six sided die. Highest number goes first. ^^]

Oh crud, oh crud, oh crud, oh crud! The young female trainer ran through the stadium, knowing good and well that she was late for her Pokemon battle. Prying off her backpack, she rummaged through her belongings to find... There it is! My Pokeball! Grasping the red and white capsule firmly in her hand, the trainer threw her backpack back... well... onto her back. Sighing at the terrible joke she just made, the trainer continued running to her destination. Finally, when she arrived, very out of breath, it was not what she expected.

It was... unpleasant, to say the least. Garbage was strewn every which-way, and the whole place reeked of acids and poisons. Wrinkling her nose at the smell, the girl looked at the Pokeball in her hands, then gently pushed the button and threw it out, smiling as the beam of light took the shape of her beloved Gastly.

"Gast-gastly!" Nerezza looked around the room with disdain, then pure joy, knowing well that she had the upper hand here. Glancing over at her trainer, she hoped that she knew that too.

The girl calmly walked to the trainer box, her Gastly floating beside her. She took a good, long look at her opponent, and was surprised to see that it was a girl about her own age. The girl smiled, and thanked Arceus that the battle would at least be a bit less awkward. Straightening a hairband that clearly had the name "Opal" on it, the trainer cocked her head and said to her opponent, "So shall we battle, then?"

Shelly and Olive watched as their opponents came into view. She didn't mind that the girl and her partner were late because at first she thought that she was late herself. Besides, she was patient with most things anyway. Glancing at the other trainer’s Pokemon, she wondered how she was ever going to win this battle since the Gastly clearly had an advantage over her Breloom.

Olive looked at his trainer. They hadn't known each other for very long, maybe about a week or two ago they had just met, but he knew her long enough to know that she doubted herself a lot.
"Bre? Breloom." He tried to reassure her that they could do it. If not win, at least try and put effort into it. Everything will be fine. He then looked back at the Gastly and stood ready as the girl spoke.

Shelly gave a slight smile at her Pokemon and then looked back at the girl and replied, "We shall." Quickly gathering her thoughts and thinking of four moves to use she figured she might try to hold the Gastly off for a while if they could. "Olive! Start out with Stun Spore!"

"Loom." Centering himself, the Breloom tilted his head toward the Gastly and let out a paralyzing yellow powder from within his pores on the top of his head.

Right away, Opal knew that her opponent wasn't too confident. She smiled serenely, as she knew that feeling good and well. She looked over to her Gastly, then to her opponent's Breloom, trying to recall the weaknesses of Grass and Fighting types. Opal looked over to Nerezza, attempting to find four moves that would work well to use.

Feeling her trainer's gaze, Nerezza glanced over to her, with a quizzical look on her dark face. Knowing her, the Gastly assumed that the girl was already formulating a battle strategy. Only a few weeks together, and I can read her like a book. I just hope that whatever plan she has won't backfire...

Opal gave a sudden jolt at her opponent's sudden reply. "Very well, then..." The girl inhaled deeply, doing her best to remain calm and sound at least sort of polite. But as her opponent's Pokemon unleashed its attack, Opal lost some of her composure and started over to her Gastly, who was already hit by the paralyzing powder. Balling her hand up into a fist with one of her hairband's ribbons stuck inside and biting her lip, the girl started to think madly on what she could do.

"G-gas...Gastly!" The powder felt like a jolt as it caught Nerezza by surprise. Instantly, the Gastly felt all of her "body" freeze up, and she could not move at all. Gritting her sharp teeth, Nerezza desperately looked to her trainer, hoping that she would come up with something.

There wasn't any doubt in Shelly that Olive could not do the status attack. She believed in her Pokemon more than herself. As Olive granted the requested attack, the trainer held her breath until then did she see that the Gastly couldn't move did she let out a relieved sigh. "Nice Going, Olive!" she couldn't help but give him cheer and phrase.

Olive appreciated the compliments of his trainer and nodded back toward her in reply. Taking advantage of the time that he had, Olive walked over to the Gastly and looked it over in interest. He gave a slight chuckle as he could see right through it and was tempted to put his arm through the helpless Pokemon, but he didn't want to upset it even more. Shelly gave him a while to do what he wanted and then in the background requested a Solar Beam attack.

After studying the ghost Pokemon, he let himself to glow a yellowish light as he took in the sun's warm rays. Olive then let out a strong beam of yellow-whitish light toward Nerezza. "Breloom!"

Opal was at a loss for what to do. Her only Pokemon was paralyzed for Arceus knew how long, and that would give her opponent the upper hand. The trainer though madly on what to do, and looked over to the Gastly. She wasn't faring too well. Realizing that she couldn't do anything at the current moment in time, Opal sighed and waited for the inevitable attack. When it came, it was not what the trainer expected. The move was powerful, yes, but, as Opal remembered, it was only half as powerful as it would be to another Pokemon. Opal smiled at Nerezza, as if she thought it would give the Pokemon strength.

Nerezza struggled to free herself from the confines of the paralyzing effects, but to no avail. I...hate...this... Inside, the Gastly seethed in a quiet rage. She saw her opponent beginning to attack, and she gritted her teeth, bracing herself for the attack. When it came, Nerezza unclenched her sharp teeth and opened one eye, looking herself over for the damage. To her happy surprise, she wasn't too scathed. Feeling cocky, the Gastly gave her opponent a small smirk then laboriously stuck her tongue at him. Maybe... I can handle this...

Olive got closer to the ghost Pokemon and tilted his head. Chuckling to himself he closed his eyes and stuck his tongue back out at her. He knew that the attack wasn't that great but he was still confident that he could still make the fight without fainting first. Though he knew he would probably get a sarcastic reply he decided to ask, How are you doing?

After Olive’s hit, Shelly didn’t think that paralyzing was much of an advantage now. It barely left a mark! If that didn’t do much and Olive didn’t really know any other moves than grass and fighting they were toast, unless Olive’s Stun Spore worked every time, which you couldn’t count on just that. Figuring that while they had the chance they would keep attacking with the stun spore ran off. “Olive! Again with Solar Beam!”

Backing up a bit Olive again glowed for the second time bringing sunlight into his body and releasing the solar energy onto the Gastly. This is turning out to be slow at first… Thinking out loud.

The trainer, although quite excited over the fact that Nerezza had an advantage, was worried. How much longer could her Pokemon last? And how long would it be until the paralysis wears off? These thoughts whizzed around in her head like a swarm of angry Beedrill, and Opal tried her best to keep them in check. She looked over to her struggling Pokemon and noticed that her opponent's Pokemon was communicating with her. Despite herself, the trainer laughed a little. That Breloom's in for an avalanche of sass coming his way. Opal made her face solemn again and called out to the Gastly. "Hang in there Nezza, and keep your focus!"

Nerezza's defiant attitude kept her from giving up hope, and she continues to struggle and strain in the confines of her paralysis. Then, to her complete surprise, her foe had the audacity to come up and stick his tongue out at her! The Gastly's eyes shot into a death glare. "Gast-gastly... Gast... Gastly- gast! Gastly!" Oh, think your some kind of big shot, Mr. Fungus-Head? If I wasn't stuck right now, I'd punt your sorry tail all the way to Kanto and back! Nerezza growled. Who does that mushroom-brain think he is, asking me that? Nerezza thought to herself. Oh, baby, when I'm free, I swear I am gonna show 'im who's the boss 'round these parts. Oh yeah! The idea of beating the Breloom gave the Pokemon energy to spare, even after the second hit came around, and she decided to mess with him for the fun of it. "Gast gastly... Gastly gast-gast." Just watch your back, pally... Cause you won't know where I'll go next... Nerezza then grinned, showing her sharp teeth, and used all of her concentration to make herself invisible for about 6 seconds. The Gastly smiled maliciously to herself. That boy's in for a world of hurt.

Shelly became a little more nervous as the seconds creep past that the Gastly would be able to make its own move. She began peeking at the time every now and then, and now seeing that the opponent's Pokemon could turn itself invisible, she knew that there wasn't much time left until her Pokemon's Stun Spore was to ware out. She wasn't that experienced with the ghost type. She decided to stick with the solid kind. But what she was more worried about was the attacks the other trainer had up their sleeve and how they would effected her Pokemon. She looked out from where she stood. The Gastly was throwing up a storm at Olive. That was just like him to try and be nice during a battle. He never really liked hurting anyone. After this was over, she thought she ought to tell Olive to not interact with the opponent nicely during battle. "Focus, Azeitona, and use Leech Seed!"

Olive began to worry that the Pokemon named Nerezza might not be paralyzed any more. He stood looking around himself, not prepared if she were to attack him. After a few seconds, she was visible in the same spot where she had been and he sighed to himself in relief. Shocked by how his trainer called to him by his actual name, Olive backed a little away from angry Pokemon. Well, she's quite sassy, isn't she.. he muttered under his breath. He then shook some seeds at the Pokemon and hoped that they would sprout and over take his opponent.

Opal's patience was wearing thin. How long would it take until Nerezza was free?! Nervously twirling her hairband ribbon, she tried to remember how many turns that have passed. By memory alone, she determined that three turns had past and Nerezza didn't seem much better. There must be one more turn left, the woman thought excitedly. She bounced a little and called to the stuck Gastly. "Don't worry Nezz! Just a little more! You can take it!" In her mind, Opal was already thinking of what attack to use. Taking into consideration that her opponent's Pokemon was Grass and Fighting and Nerezza was Poison and Ghost, the trainer made her decision and waited until Nerezza was free.

The Gastly smirked at her opponent and his trainer. Obviously, the Breloom wasn't exactly the battling type. She grinned maliciously. I may just be able to use that to my advantage... She braced herself as she saw the next attack coming, waited a few seconds, and then opened one eye, confused. Then there on the ground a few feet behind her were the seeds from the attack. Eyes now sparkling with cruel delight, she shouted to the Breloom. "Gast GAST! Gastly gast!" Hey DUDE! Nice aim! She then proceeded to laugh and as she did, she could feel the paralyzing bonds slowly breaking around her. Nerezza grinned a sharp-toothed grin. And now it's my turn.

Shelly's skin began to flush with a pale pink has she grew more nervous. The Gastly was sure to make a move sometime and Olive's type was a weakness. A big one as a matter of fact. Seeing that her Pokemon's seeds didn't meet the target, the edge of her palm met her forehead in her own Pokemon's embrassment. She tried to take deep breathes to calm herself down, and it sort of worked. "It's okay, Olive!" Shelly said as she saw that he was getting a little worked up. She'd never really seen him mad so she didn't know what was going to happen. "Try it again!

"Breloom.." Olive gritted his teeth at the Gastly's remark and began swinging his heavy tail back and forth. It was frustrating to him that nothing that he could do of the physical type would harm the impudent ghost. He had his hard tail and his sharp claws but other than that he didn't have much. If the opponent was solid she would have it then. Deciding to try one more time, Olive gathered his seeds again and unleashed them at the ghost.

Opal saw the bonds lifting on Nerezza and she had to restrain herself from letting out a whoop of delight. Now they were back in business! She smiled at her Pokemon, who gave a small smile back. They both knew which attack to use. But as they were readying themselves to attack, Nerezza was hit with the Leech Seed once more, and this time the seeds met their target. Opal gritted her teeth as her friend was knocked backwards by the attack, but it wasn't very effective and it loosened the paralyzing bonds even more. Nerezza saw a small opening and pushed her way out of the bonds. Opal was ecstatic. "Way to go, Nezz! Now, Sludge Bomb!"

Nerezza was as excited as her trainer. She set a deathly glare in the Breloom's direction. "And now you get yours, buddy." The Gastly took up some of the poisonous gases that made up her body and compiled them into a semi-solid blob. Once it was sufficiently big enough, she hurled it at the Breloom, hoping it would hit.

[checked back with FFN and I rolled wrong.. Reroll!]

Leech Seed: Roll 2 4-sided dice. First dice determines if it hits or not (if the number is odd, your attack hits). If it is even, ignore the second roll, you fail. If it is odd and hits, then the second roll indicates the number of turns your attack lasts. Each turn drains 25 HP
