There are some very interesting phics out there, I'm currently reading Progeny which is...er... interesting but it's so completely the opposite of what I interpretted from the book and some of it seems pretty out of character... Raoul mostly, Christine and Erik were very in character for the interpretation that the author had. I think that's the fundamental odd thing about phanphics, is that it really all depends on what interpretation the author had.
It is especially hard for me because I need to stay true to my interpretation for my screen play, which is like... everywhere on this guild, just look around for it.
So discussion:

Have you read any phanpics online? So many that I can no longer stand them unless it's something new and innovative. I have seen everything.
Any from Amazon.com? By this do you mean ones like Progeny and Journey of the Mask and the like? If so, then yes.
Written any? I have and need to keep updating a few.
How do you feel when your interpretations differ from that of the author? Well, if I let it bother me, then I would have run mad long ago. Frankly, it irritates me, but if it can be wholly justified, is logical, or has a very good reason, then perhaps I can lay off. However, more often than not, I'll just stop reading.

I just finished Progeny... it made me cry.. as much as I disagreed with the author's views I sobbed throughout the last few chapters and the Epilogue...

I looked at Progeny online and decided against reading it. I probably will get it now though. I got another book. I'll get back to you on the title. Haven't read it yet though... Just ordered it today.
EDIT: 'Angel of Music' It is like 3 stories about Phantom and stuff...

Written any? Not much. I might though. I want to write my own little sequel to Progeny sort of.
How do you feel when your interpretations differ from that of the author? I get mad. xD Like Progeny for example. Christine was so out of character it hurt me. Also it made Raoul sound like a meanie. xd

Have you read any phanpics online? I second Fuoko. I've seen everything, and I'm astonished at how much of it just repeats endlessly.
Any from Amazon.com? Yes, and I can say that most of them are a waste of money. You can read better online for free. Trapdoor Lover is the frabulous exception, though. heart

How do you feel when your interpretations differ from that of the author? Well unless I'm being deliberately creative, I try and make the interpretations I write as close to canon as physically possible. That's half the point of phanphic. When I do change things, I try and make sure there's enough left the same and a good reason for the change.
As for reading... it annoys the hell out of me when things are twisted and completely removed from canon because the author doesn't care. That's why I'm not allowed to read much these days.
