This is a short comment since I'm doing a dozen and one things today.
While I'm a big fan of creativity through limitation, there's just one problem with the class tree as is.
You have to be some srt of trained wairror or mage to play. If you look around, you'll discover that not everyone is a scholar or a warrior.
I think that a merchant/ artistian/ plain ol' dude, type class tree is nessasary if we're gonna limit to the classes. While some of these plain ol dudes may eventualy start to learn to be a mage or a warrior, it makes no sence to start them as one if they have no connection to the class.
So in breif, a "skilled trades" type section would be good ontop of the physical and magical. Just so we can have the opertunity to play someone who is, well, ordinary.
Thanks.

I'm thinking of implementing a "Professions" system that will encompass all "classes" without ability lists will fall. Basically, when you create a character, you can list both a Class and a Profession, with a Profession being "Merchant, Blacksmith, Artist," etc. In your application, you include a description of the Profession and why you want to use it, and as always, Sey and I reserve the right to say, "no". (For instance, I don't particularly want to see "Slave Driver" as a profession.)

Hey... I take offense to that.
What if I wanted to have a character that is a slave driver, owning several dozen slaves, running a caravan between the far south and the larger cities in the west. Buying, selling, and trading slaves between these cities, and supplying the great 'Coliseum at Phoeci' (or whatever) with expendible gladiators for their games.
What if, in the course of this, I happen upon a wounded PC that didn't quite make it unscathed out of a battle in the plains, and what if, just if, said character was captured and forced into slavery until such a time when (s)he was offered to sale to someone... perhaps selling a captured priestess of light to the temple of darkness. whee
...I'm just saying, don't count things out just because they're a bit offensive...

Say, then, that I pay said owner gobs of money for yadda yadda yadda... You know you're tired when you can't even take a joke too far.

Hey, I'm just saying...
I mean... what if I stage the kidnapping of a member of the royal family, and then use my slave caravan as cover to get him/her out of the country in order to deliver my prize to a party who is sufficiently interested in causing harm to the precious cargo, eh? rolleyes

For the sake of consistency, I would still say, "no". There's plenty of crappy RPs that involve slavery in Barton Town, and WoG is not and will not be one of them. (Yes, I know this is a joke, but I felt this needed to be said.)
EDIT: Remember, Sey and I are not fluffballs to be smushed lovingly (although we like that, too); and I at least am inclined to lay down the law when I so choose if I'm going to be doing all this work. XD

Actually, the thought of someone being able to be accepted into WoG as a slave driver or any other sort of criminal thing is has some intrigue to it, if you ask me.
At the very least, something of the sort would have the potential to prevent all the guild action from happening in just one spot, ya know? Player A plays a young, heroic monk or something, and Player B drives slaves.
Player A and Player B get to have a good 'ol time with eachother.
Without Player B, Mr. A would have to somehow give his character a reason to go from point A to point B, where everyone else in the guild is throwing down in a barfight or some epic battle that revolves around the few people fortunate enough to play a vital role in the story and those who happen to be in the right place at the right time.
*Shrug*

Hm. You're probably right; I'm just being squeamish. In order to have an effective range of gameplay, we'll have to let in the baddies with the goodies, won't we?
Okay, fine, slave drivers are fine. I reserve the right to toast their behinds if I so choose, though. scream

On the whole topic of evil/meanies.... I really couldn't think of another way to say that.
Anyway, I'm thinking of an evil beaurocrat/aristocrat, complete with henchmen (PCs, of course). Is that kosher?
