I'm planning on making a Fantasy/War RP, but I'd like to know who is still active in this guild and willing to roleplay it. Consider this a teaser/recruitment thread:
It's the last day of the Festival of Mathos, an homage to the first hero of the realm of Athkis. Creatures of all sorts of creation from the lofty Draconic warriors that train day and night to protect the realm from foreign invaders to the wiser yet smaller Daiken that take the guise of animals to pass along their prophecies and advice. In a patch of forest a small distance away from the festivities a group of young Talix huddle around a glowing patch. Talix, known for their wit and feline/fox attributes were unfortunately the cause of the majority of problems in Athkis. Their overabundant curiosity always wound up digging up some sort of trouble and mischief, but they couldn't be helped. Without the Talix, there would be no pull of excitement in the daily life of Athkisians.
"Hey... lookee 'ere. If you poke it, you can hear a shriek!"
One of the young Talix prodded the glowing patch with a large stick of sorts, marveled at the fact that it ushered a sound. The others that accompanied it gathered around in fascination, taking turns with their own sticks to observe the anomaly for themselves. As expected, a shrill squeal pierced the otherwise echoed air of jubilation from the festival a few meters away from their location. Curiosity more than cruelty caused the Talix to continue, drawing their attention away from the shadow that had steadily grown around them. Before they could even blink, they were swallowed by the shadow to another realm. The glowing patch that once drew the young ones' attention now swirled into a small portal, allowing snippets of shadow passage to Athkis.
An invasion had begun. One by one, the people of Athkis fell to the shadowed invaders before the patches grew by every victim they consumed into apparitions of death and desolation. They cut down the population to a fourth of its numbers and those that remained began to plan a counter measure. To the Athkisians, those that were not slaughtered before their very eyes believed the others to be devoured alive by the spectres. However, the truth of the matter was that they were captured and held within the realm the shadows had come from. Eventually, at the outer walls of the capital city where the remaining numbers of Athkisians fled when the invasion began, a loud yet eerie voice boomed towards the inside.
"You have three months to surrender all of Athkis to Renterix. If you do not surrender upon our return, then we will crush all of Athkis beneath the armies of Renterix."
The shadowed beings retreated back to their home realm only to return in three months' time. The remaining feared for their lives and the cruelty of those that had invaded their homeland; villages were burned where they once stood upon opulant farmland, the countryside had been bathed within the blood of those that dared oppose the shadowed opposition and morale was at a low. Until one brave Draconian spoke up.
"We will consult the last remaining Daiken, and we will stand against Renterix. We will be able to stand for Athkis and retain our peaceful realm once more if we do not lose hope!"
The Daiken! Shapeshifting prophets that were known to turn the tides of war with their accurate prophecies and telling, but they could only speak of one outcome and vague pathways to it. The Draconian managed to gather enough morale to send a search party out for the roaming Daiken, as they had not fled to the capital like the rest of the populace. Upon meeting, they were greeted with a foreboding but hopeful prophecy:
The sky will black as coal on the eve of war,
The lands will be bathed by the blood of the clash of two realms,
From the ashes of destruction and despair, there will be a creature of nightmare,
He will take from those that oppose him the will and hope of Athkis,
But if Athkis will band together and fight this foe regardless then hope will arrive,
And Athkis will succeed.
Would the armies of Athkis be enough to defend against Renterix, and fulfill the prophecy? Or will they choose another path to the future and succumb to despair?
Species:
Draconian - Large creatures that are named after the mythical Dragon for their stunning reptilian features and hulking size. From birth, these beings are trained in the arts of war and combat and serve as the forefront of defense for Athkis. Their abilities are centralized in strength and defense, but there have been reports of Draconic mages. However, they are not the strongest being as Draconians have very little magical ability in their blood.
Talix - Lithe, sinewy beings that resemble a cross between felines for their stripes and long tails and foxes for their sharp noses and ears. This species is rarely seen in battle, but they are well known to be the entertainment of Athkis. They are high in intelligence and wit, but can be a bit too curious for their own good. If there is a problem that arises in the realm of Athkis, it can often be traced to a Talix's play.
Daiken - None but Daiken know of their true forms as they commonly take on the guise of animals. Any animal created by the gods of Athkis is within the realm of Daiken use, though it isn't uncommon to see a Daiken take the form of an avian creature. They are identified by the silver crescent moon between their eyes regardless of the form they may take, and are reputed for their outstanding wisdom. Daiken are difficult to get a hold of as they are often roaming the lands, but they can foretell events crucial to battle or dispense invaluable advice of life-altering choices. Unsuitable for battle, but invaluable for tactile strategy.
Human - These are rare in Athkis being as few humans have crossed the interdimensional borders into the realm. They are a balanced species and relatively weaker in all attributes of battle and strategy, but make exceptional mages if trained correctly. Those that make it to Athkis to begin with must have a strong level of magic flowing through their veins. These beings are often seen upon the shoulder of a Draconian if in battle, readying a spell or shield in the midst of war.
Lanix - Illuminating the skies with their brilliant colors, this avian species is adept in magical use and tactile advancement. Their defense is low but their speed is phenomenal due to the benefit of flight. Similar in design to a pheonix, they have long flowing tails that send an array of color that matches the hue of the Lanix. Their wings are attached to their shoulderblades, and they are often seen as dancers and illusionary mages from the stunning magic they can create with the flap of their wings. A common placement for a Lanix is in the rear of the front lines with their hands curved around a shimmering pool of their own aura so that they may deter the enemies' attention enough for an effective attack.
Athoks - Burly but rather short little creatures that are the gruntmen of an army. Their strength is high but their speed is dreadfully slow, however if they have the benefit of numbers (which is often the case in an army) then they can deliver crippling blows to enemy forces. Their skill in weaponry and armor is unsurpassed, and if one desires a good-quality weapon then it is an Athok that they must seek.
Jailet - A varying species that is often mistaken for Talix for their animalistic attributes. These creatures are a humanoid form of animals and make up the majority of Athkis, and share a beastial form with the blood which is spliced within their being. One commonly sees these beings upon two legs but with tails and ears as well as a coating of fur customary to their animals - be it wolf, ox, sheep or otherwise. However, they are easily recognizable for the tattooed brand from birth upon their forearm that stays even if they change forms to more mobile animals, and can be trained to be incredible warriors or devastating mages/magicians depending upon the animal blood they share.
Renterix - Shadowed beings that can use the magic of shadow to their benefit and bend their bodies to shadows to seep through crevices and blend within natural shadow to sneak upon their foe. They are ruthless and powerful, but have an extremely weak defense. While they will compensate by resorting to guerilla tactics, they provide a formidable opponent and a difficult one to pinpoint lest one be paying attention to the shadows of their surrounding. These beings have no facial features and their physical form looks as though they are cloaked beings, though it is only the shadow that rises and gives them shape.
This is just a basic summary, but those are all the species that I'll allow. If there are any takers, post here, along with any questions or things you would like to be integrated into the roleplay.
