Call it a meme, call it a topic, call it whatever.

Post your Uncomfortable Truths here, be they ones you learned just starting out, ones you learned the first time you stepped into M&R, ones you learned yesterday.

Because sometimes it's liberating to be honest and say "I was wrong" or "I am afraid" or "this confuses the hell out of me".

Might make an off-topic one of these for the Chatterbox too wink

Ancestry/heritage does not make you special, nor will it open a closed culture.

Another uncomfortable truth:

You cannot swing a dead cat without hitting a Silver Ravenwolf book.

Ha! xd

"There is some knowledge you will never be able to access, however much you want to know it."

Although that doesn't count really as yet because I am very stubborn and there is a part of me that still refuses to accept it. xd

Also, from long ago:

"There was no ancient matriarchal religion oppressed by the Christians."

And, the most painful:

"Sometimes, books tell giant fat lies and don't check their facts. 'Non-fiction' does not mean 'true'."

No matter what you do, ignorance will be something you will never be able to escape entirely.

This ^^ which inevitably leads to...

"Just when you think you've finally figured it all out, you realize that you really don't have a clue" gonk

No matter how many people you try to show the truth, there is always ignorance snatching the one's that are too stubborn to accept it.

Just because you can read and change the future, doesn't mean it comes with out a price.

Sometimes, A gift is more of a curse.

Just because you can cast a spell, doesn't make you a witch. It's knowing the responsabilties and consequences of using it along with the know how.

There is no such thing as a natural witch.

Just because someone has been studying it most of their life, doesn't mean you can't study twice as hard and surpass them.

An alternate to that one is

Just because someone has been studying it most of their life, doesn't mean what they know is the truth.

Ignorance has no age limit.

There is a such thing as a lost cause.

Someone told me a long time ago, that being eclectic should not be without pride. :3

I too feel that pain, But I know that I'm working hard to make everythng work and fit together nicely enough to be a path. From Buddist teachings to Slavic deities, I know I'm setting down the stones that will lead me to something great.

And who knows, If Gerald Gardner can create one. I'm sure with hard work and determination, You can make one too.

Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong.

That's what I'm doing. biggrin
Except I'm missing a lot I need. Like deities, and a name of the religion/path. I'm so terrible at coming up with names/titles..

Cultures get raped. A lot. YOU'RE DOING IT NOW!!! gonk ((no, not really wink ))

Things only make sense until they don't anymore.

Studying magic doesn't make most people see you as fascinating or mysterious, just weird and possibly uneducated in scientific realities.

Although there are objective, historical aspects of religion, there are many people who cannot seem to grasp this.

Just because a religion makes you feel special doesn't mean it will bring you closer to Truth or make you a better person. ((The first time I read Silver RavenWolf, I thought her work was the most amazing stuff EVER. sweatdrop ))

Charismatic megafauna can be bitches, too. ((i.e. just because you've chosen a cool beastie as your power animal doesn't mean that animal doesn't do nasty things on occasion))

Weird thought: What if your totem animal was a coyote and your familiar was a cat, and then the cat got eaten by a coyote? confused

I think this is a reason why so many people dislike her. You're young and into something new and shiny and she tells you things that make you feel special. It's a harsh truth to realise her stuff is crap, and one feels bitter.
