Name: Bakin
Age: 17
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Craft: Smithing
Rank: Apprentice

Physical Description:Bakin is a combination of his mother and father. Black hair, tan skin, his nose. All his. Green eyes, temper and that way he rocks when he stands? All from her. He is average height for his age and gender, and in the weight department seems about the same. He's cuter than his brothers but doesn't stop to look at his reflection enough to know this. His face is lined up well, with a modest sized nose, oval eyes and somewhat thick lips for a male.

Personality: Bakin is a young man of common sense and practical abilities, using them to take on everyday tasks like fixing door hinges or repairing a tool. He is and always has been a middle ground for his brothers in close to every way possible. Were he a man of fate he'd think it sent him for just that reason. Balin looks like his father, Bachi looks like his mother. Bakin resembles both. Balin is no nonsense, Bachi makes no sense. Bakin can flow with either. Balin likes girls, Bachi like boys. Bakin... Well, you get the idea.

The middle of the brothers shares traits with both first and last, but he also has some native only to him. Bakin excels at bringing out the best in others. He makes people feel good about themselves and they like being around him. Partially because Bakin will, sometimes absently, alter his behavior based on who he's with, if only to a minor extent. He wants to be liked and can't stand when people are mad at him, even if he doesn't know them very well.

He's not a (verbal) whiner. You won't catch him complaining. But the fact is squabbles among his friends or family really get to him. Any indifference leaves him in an internal distraught state until the confrontation is settled. He just plain doesn't understand unkindness, completely unable to grasp how someone could do mean, cruel things. This is unusual because, in most cases, Bakin is extremely gifted when it comes to understanding everyone's point of view. He makes an excellent peacemaker, and this shines through any time all three brothers are in the same room. Because he's so afraid of being disliked (void when he's with his brothers, they'd never do that!), he won't try it with anyone else for fear it could backfire.

Not that anyone needs to be told this, but Bakin is not a good leader and he knows it. He loves people, he's a genuine interested in them. He could just never be a leader because as a leader it's impossible to make everyone happy and that's all Bakin aims to do. He picks up on positive things about those around him and always seems to have something nice to say about someone. Although he does have morals of his own, rather than comparing them to laws and rules, he'll stack them against whoever he looks to as a leader.

Bakin can always be counted on to follow through with his responsibilities, so if you're that leader, consider yourself lucky. He might not do well in your shoes, but he makes an excellent follower and you'll be hard pressed to find anyone close to as loyal. This is as much a good as a bad thing, because Bakin's loyalty runs so deep he'll flat out ignore any wrong doings by those he's pledged it to. He's especially giving to these people, but he'll give the shirt off his back to anyone who asks.

Much like his elder brother--in fact, probably because of him--Bakin values structure in his life and doesn't like it when things are disorganized or in chaos. He would never be a 'live for the moment guy' and if you are, you kind of scare him and should think about what you're doing! Unlike said brother, Bakin would never break a rule. But he will blindly accept one without wondering why if the right person makes it.

Insecurity? Right here! Bakin doesn't come off as lacking confidence when you first meet him, but in his mind he is always second guessing himself, always wondering if he should have done this instead of that. To make matters worse he needs approval to feel good about himself, and if he doesn't have it, he may even become depressed. But again, people usually like Bakin and don't mind tossing him a compliment or two. He doesn't realize, leader material or not, he's actually subconsciously driven to control his surroundings and might unknowingly manipulate those around him just to keep things peaceful.

History: Bakin is the child of a lazy man and a dimwitted woman. There isn't a time he doesn't remember having two brothers. He's situated in the middle, but Bachi is only one year younger, so he has virtually no memory of 'before' when it comes to his youngest sibling. What he does remember is being bossed around by the oldest a lot, and then watching him leave to go to the Weyr. That was fine, he deserved it.

Then Bachi left, and Bakin didn't really like that. He was happy for his brothers, but with both of them gone, who was going to be in charge of the house? Try as he might to keep things together, he could only do so in the literal sense and slowly but surely his mother fell apart in the emotional one. Bakin's ability to sway people in the 'It'll be okay!' zone proved ineffective this time, and eventually, his mother fell ill and passed away.

At a loss with what to do with himself, Bakin considered moving to the Weyr even before he was searched. Upon arriving he finds his oldest sibling has already Impressed. Hearing tale of what happened at the hatching, Bakin worries what another loss--this time B'lin's--might do to such a young dragon. He also knows if B'lin sees him, he'll know their mother is gone.

It'll be... interesting trying to hide himself, especially when his younger brother and former "neighbor" Miah are in on the scheme. It can't be that hard, right?

...Right?
