With the morning drill over, Lyveana found herself, not at loose ends, but rather torn between two less then appetizing prospects. One, lunch. She really wasn't hungry, but Ruinnth was laying it on thick about caring for her health, rather then worrying needlessly over grown riders who were quite capable of taking care of themselves. The second, well, that was making an entirely new set of fighting straps.

Overall, the second seemed the most congenial. She would be able to sit down and distract her mind from recent events, and Faranth knew she could stitch leather in her sleep! The downside was, well... the heat. Looking up as she and Ruinnth crossed the Bowl from the Tanner's, Lyv silently cursed whatever natural law dictated that Ista had to be so sharding hot. Still, she could work outside near the sea, where hopefully some ocean breezes would coast her way, and Ruinnth could go for a swim.

You could bring a basket with some food in it and do both things as well. The green added, curling her neck around to level her rider a knowing look.

Glancing up at her, Lyv sighed the long sigh of inevitable defeat when she caught that look in the dragons whirling eyes. "Right right, stop for a moment so I can fasten this stuff to your ridges and you can give me a boost back to the Lower Caverns then." The greenider said, shifting the harness pieces off of her shoulder and up onto the dark green when Ruinnth helpfully sank to her belly.
You might also want to change, in case you- The green started, immune to what the pair must look like, squabbling as they were in the middle of the bowl.

"That is quite enough Ruinnth. I'll not be caught out in this sunlight wearing anything less the what I have on now!"

"Wingleader Lyveana, a pleasure." K'lan's easy, slight smile was genuine as she nodded respectfully to the woman, intending to help rather than interupt. A second nod went to Ruinnth as she spoke again, "And to you, as well, Ruinnth. "

It'd be a dense weyrling not to know the pair, especially being weyr-bred and raised as K'lan was. On her way to the kitchens, she'd seen the older rider and decided to greet her. Sure, many of the candidates she'd known hadn't liked the stern woman, but hard-work had never bothered K'lan.

Condoroth, blue-eyes whirling with curiosity, peered at the much larger green, her matter-of-fact tone greeting Ruinnth without reservation.

Greetings! Mine says we would be wise to learn from yours. I am Condoroth!

"May I help you with anything?" If there was an errand to run on her way to the kitchens, why not do it? K'lan never minded lending a hand.

Indubitably

Interrupted mid banter, both rider and dragon half turned to regard the young weyrling pair with remarkably well matched bright green eyes. One set, Ruinnth's, were whirling merrily enough, but Lyveana's were practically snapping with irritation. Despite the respectful tone and overall good cheer of the youngster, Lyveana was hard pressed to feel charitable towards anyone at the moment. She was of half a mind to dismiss the girl entirely, but common courtesy demanded she respond in kind.

Luckily, Ruinnth was more then capable of filling in for her rider when it came to being diplomatic. Plus, she had taken a shine to this particular little green, once she had begun to show her true colors during Weyrling Lessons. Like Lyveana, Ruinnth took great pains to remember those youngsters who performed exceptionally well. It was their duty as Wingleaders, but it helped that Rinnth enjoyed watching anyway. Fair Skies little Condoroth, your rider flatters mine with such talk. We are no more and no less then a pair who works hard. The dark green said, curving her neck down to bring her head level with Condoroth. Much the same as you and your rider work hard, you have both done well so far. High praise indeed, but Ruinnth was nothing if not open and genuine with her praise when it was deserved.

Arching one slender brow at her dragon, Lyveana eventually followed suit and nodded back to K'lan with as much grace as she could muster. Her memory of the girl's name was failing her at the moment, but she did remember that this particular green was the one of the last hatchlings to break shell. "The offer is appreciated young lady, but at the moment we were just on our way to the shore-"

We can wait, have her bring you a lunch-basket so you actually eat? Condoroth can wait with me while she goes. The unspoken, 'and I can talk to her some more' hung in the silence between them, up until the moment it took for Lyveana to realize Ruinnth had said that publicly so Condoroth could hear her. Casting the green a quelling look, Lyveana added hastily, "My apologies, I will not take advantage of your good nature as Ruinnth suggests. I'm sure you have more important things to attend too." Then, with another glance at Ruinnth. "Rather then running errands for lazy old dragonriders or cleaning up after their equally lazy dragons, that is."

You are silly, maybe she would like to learn how you make riding straps.

I am quite sure the Weyrlingmaster teaches them more then they would ever want to know about straps dearheart.
