(This RP takes place before We're Going on an Adventure and immediately after Chance Meeting. Just a small RP for amusement's sake.)
Nalani trotted over to where her family was preparing to lie down for the night, an extra spring in her step. "I'm back," she announced cheerfully as she came closer.
"Welcome back," Natsuhi said with a smile, lifting her head from where she had already lain down. "You're home rather later than usual. And quite a bit cheerier." A small breeze blew their way just then, wafting Nalani's scent their way. Along with another scent. Oh dear, the glowy mare thought to herself, anticipating her mate's reaction to this. Somehow she didn't think he'd be too pleased to find that their daughter had been spending time with a strange stallion...

Brajan stood at the edge of the small circle of family, his ears perked and listening. He'd scented a stranger earlier in the day. It had left him somewhat stand-offish with his youngest daughter gone. As painful as it was simply leaving it, he'd promised Natsu that he would work on what the kids ocassionally called his 'overprotective thing.' The newcomer had remained for a time, but never did show himself. It had all but vanished a few moments ago, and now that their daughter returned, it hit him full on, like a branch to the face. "Nalani, what were you-"
Faolan's eyes had been drifting closed, but when a whiff hit her full on her face, she leapt to her feet and stuck her face right in her sister's. "Oh-my-gosh-who-was-it?!"

Nalani blinked in surprise when she suddenly found herself face to face with her older sister. "Pardon?" she replied, a small smile still on her lips. "Why, sis, I didn't realize that you had missed me so." Just to tease her she gave the other mare a small lick on the cheek. "Ok, you've had you good night lick. You can go to bed now."
Natsuhi simply rolled her eyes at this (not that anyone could tell through their bright glow) and waited patiently to see how this would turn out. At least their daughter didn't look any worse for wear. Quiet the opposite actually.

Faolan's face contorted from indignant rage to confusion to disgust and back again. "Ew!" She pulled away, staring at her sister in shock. "You got your spit on me!" Her face fell as a low whimper left her. That was so gross. That was so very gross. Rubbing her cheek wildly on her foreleg, she snorted. "At least I wasn't out with some young buck all day." Her voice carried a hint of a growl.
Brajan sighed heavily and moved to Natsuhi's side. "Nalani, did you see the stranger?" Though he already knew the answer. She wore it on her very flesh. As telling as if she had brought him home to meet them all.

"Mhm," she replied easily as if this were a normal occurrence. Moving to settle down in her usual spot, she said, "Say, did you know that fireflies like to gather around honeysuckle?" Nalani pretty much completely disregarded her sister's earlier remark.

Brajan frowned. "Fireflies? Nalani, just where have you been all day? You went for a drink, and then we didn't hear from you." His voice came softly, the concern evident. "That stallion didn't hurt you, did he?" If anything, he'd say it was quite the opposite. She seemed absolutely thrilled about nothing in particular that he could see.

Nalani had to giggle at his question. "Of course not, Dad. He was just passing through." Or at least he had been passing through until the mare had stopped him. "I've just been out and about. Went for a drink and got to chatting a bit."
Natsuhi had to admit that it was somewhat amusing to see their daughter in such a chipper state. Not that she wasn't usually chipper, but there was just something slightly different about it now. "And this kind stallion told you of the fireflies and flowers?" she asked with a small sile, unable to help herself.
"Showed me actually," she replied with a small nod, glad at least that her mother usually took things in stride. "Blew them out with his wings. Along with some dandelions. It was quite pretty."

"Spawn of a Cloud Chaser!," Brajan huffed softly. "Nalani, you know you shouldn't go with strangers in the forest. It's dangerous. Who knows if he had some designs on you?" His eyes trailed up. That scent was gone, but he might still be able to catch up and give him a good n** in the flank...
Faolan's nose scrinched up discerningly. "He did what? Is he daft? Are you daft, all excited about those little bugs?" Still, a hint of melancholy crept into her tone, two parts jealousy, one part curiosity. Why didn't she ever meet stallions when she went to drink? Her eyes narrowed suddenly, her next question deathly quiet, as though her very life hinged on the answer. "Was he cute?"

Nalani scoffed at her father's words. "Cloud chaser? Since when is it a crime to be gifted with flight? And what exactly do you mean by 'designs?" In answer to her sister's question, she gave a near imperceptible nod of the head, not wanting to answer that out loud just now with their father right there.
"Brajan, darling, it's alright," Natsuhi said soothingly, trying to calm down her mate. "The important thing is that she's back safe and well. And I'm sure that our daughter is not fool enough to hang around someone potentially dangerous."

Faolan's stiffened at the gesture. "You've been-! Nalani, you've been holding out on me?!" She bristled, her eyes shining in the night.
Brajan sighed softly. "Yes, a cloud chaser. Those 'gifted with flight.' Flighty at best. Designs. I was young once, I know what every young buck wants a little too well." His attention turned to his mate. With a gentle nod, he conceded. At least, for now. The stallion was gone and Nalani was safe.

She cast her sister a strange glance. "I don't know what you mean," she said casually, laying her head down on the ground to rest. "I don't believe it can be considered 'holding out' on anyone when I just met the guy."
Natsuhi smiled an gave her mate a gentle nuzzle. Then, speaking in his ear in a voice too low for the kids to hear, she said, "If I do recall correctly, it was those 'designs' that brought us together in the first place." The mare licked his ear lightly before adding with a coy smile, "You still have them, yes?"

Faolan sniffed and settled down as close to her mother's side as she could muster, sandwiching herself between the two females' bodies. "Finding cute stallions off in the woods. That's cruel, Nalani."
Grinning wickedly, Brajan glanced at Natsuhi, then settled in beside her and nuzzled beneath her chin. "That's exactly how I know he's up to no good." Still, his attention seemed torn from their youngest daughter for the moment. With a soft sigh, he shook his head. "Get some rest, my love." He'd see to the stallion if he showed up again.

Nalani gave a simple shrug before closing her eyes to rest. "I'm sure you'd find one too if you ventured out more often. Good night, sis."
"Same to you," she said with a soft smile, snuggling against her mate to sleep. "Good night, my love."
(Pretty much finished. Feel free to tag once more if you would like, but other wise I'll label it as finished. =) )

The twin orbs vanished as Faolan closed her eyes and settled against her sister. Ugh. So not fair.
Brajan smiled softly. "Mhmm. Goodnight." He watched his sleeping Natsu for a long while, then cast his eyes toward his daughters. Another quiet night. Sighing, he rested his cheek to his mate's and slowly drifted off.
(( Woo woo biggrin ))
