And it was Vader who ended up killing the Emperor, "bringing peace to the galaxy".

Personally, I think the title/job is split between the two of them. Qui-Gon based his assumption that Anakin was the chosen one 'cause Anakin had MASSIVE force potential. Reasonable assumption. Anakin also (en route to Darth Vaderism) eleminated the Jedi and their strangle hold on the force at the time. Thing is, if Luke hadn't come along with the whole 'I'm still a Jedi' deal, Vader wouldn't have been Anakin ever again. Even though he'd have eventually killed the Emperor regardless, the Empire would persist with Vader as the new emperor. No jedi, just dark side/sith. The dark side would've soon snuffed out the last remaining traces of the 'good side' of the Force. But Luke did come around and turned Vader around, and he (eventually) rebuilt the Jedi order with more flexible teachings. He finished the job Anakin started.

Anakin wasn't actually the chosen one, and neither was Luke. Yeah, Anakin killed the emporers BODY but his force energy was still there, and therefore he was still alive even after Anakin had died. In later books, the Emporers ghost threatened to kill Luke's family if Luke didn't join him. Well Luke beat him, with Leia, Mara Jade, and his student's help, but the Emporer was still alive, but extremely weakened. Then he tried to take over Anakin SOLO's body and be reborn, but the baby's force energy was to strong, and the Emporer was destroyed once and for all by the backlash. So you see, it was an Anakin, but not Anakin Skywalker.

I definitely see where you're coming with that but the problem I see with that is you're assuming that killing the Emperor (permanantly, freakin' sith cockroach that one was) is the definition of bringing balance to the force. They've even said, 'We don't even know what 'balance to the force' really means'. And even so, the Jedi could've been considered trying to 'unbalance' the force as well, so we still need Anakin Skywalker to get rid of the big/first jedi order... I'm not really disagreeing with you, but I'm trying to point that out sweatdrop

What about Jacen solo? didnt he try to create a new sith empire? Im just throwing this in here just for kicks but still. If anakin was the chosen one and he brought peace by killing Papaltine. WHO later died by his grandson Anakin Solo in the back lash(stated above). But his Grandson killed Mara jade-Jacen solo-who was Anakins older bro. Im just woundering if i am on the right course.

I remember reading somewhere that Anakin Skywalker was accually the chosen one, GL confirmed it, but luke was the one that made it possible for him to complete his destiny.
But I guess it was Anakin Solo who finally defeated the emperor. But I guess he wouldn't have if Anakin Skywalker hadn't have destroyed the emperor's first body.
Thats the EU for you.

Anakin was the origanal Chosen One. Anakin Solo never would have come along if it wasn't for Anakin Skywalker. If Skywalker hadn't been the chosen one, Leia would never have met Han by way of the rebellion. Therefore, Anakin Solo would never had existed.

1- Anakin was the Chosen One. He killed the Jedi, making it a close game, and then had himself and the Emperor killed. This brought control out of Fource Users (both Jedi and Sith) all the way until the Imperial Sith War
2- Luke never killed or defeated the Emperor. Vader did. Luke only ended up helping, and making it possible for Vader to get the job done
3- Even though palpatine did return, his rule wasn't near as absolute as it was in the Original Trilogy. Also, note that the only stipulation was 'bringing balance to the Force;' noone ever said for how long

Just for laughs. But in my honest opinion, there was no "Chosen One." It's just a myth. Sure, there are strong Force users, even legendary, but there will always be light and dark, acting and counteracting one another. Anakin Skywalker was just a "Mirror" to Palpatine; a great Force user created by the Force itself to balance the power of the Light against the Darkness Palpatine created.
