Yeah, I thought I would make a nice stir fry with mixed veggies and beef for Toboe last night, along with white rice and homemade sushi, and everything turned out wrong.
I burned the beef, rice tasted funny and the seaweed kept ripping when I would try to roll it. I couldn't even fill the sushi right.
I'm disapointed in myself. I thought that since I knew so much about making this stuff that I would at least do a better first try. Was so very wrong.
Would love to try again, but for now I'm sticking to making 3 minute ramen cry

OMG! I tried again Monday night on making sushi, and it turned out great! Well, not the best thing ever, but it was edible and didn't taste like shampoo!
The rice was cooked to perfection, and I learned that with a Cali Roll there is mayo mixed with the crab. The only thing that went wrong was that the seaweed kept ripping, which I think I didn't let it soak as long as I should of. Next time I try it I'll see about adding the carrot and avacado biggrin

Aweeee...you just need practice! Like, rofl, my mom told me that when my grandma was raising her brother and herself, the only clothes she knew how to make were literally potato sack-ish xD
Now she's awesome at it biggrin

Practice makes perfect! And when making sushi, maybe start out with doing nigirizushi. Those are the mounds of rice with the fish on top and a very small strip of sea weed wrapped around. Those are usually easier to produce then the makizushi (the rolled version).
And with stir-fry, make sure to constantly keep the ingredients moving since you're usually using high heat. It'll prevent the ingredients from burning.

Did you try one of those sushi kits? It comes with that you need.
And if I were you I'd get a rice cooker! I knew how to make it w/o
one before, but the cooker saves so much time and it's easy to use!
Mine only cost about $30-40, makes up to 7 cups and steams food!

Cooking takes practice dude! You can't always get it right on the first try (though if you do, props to you!) But yeah, most of the time it takes experimentation. Don't be afraid to make mistakes because nothing can ever go wrong that a little soy sauce (or whichever condiment) can't fix. =]

Don't give up! I'm a cooking failure too. >w<; I've tried making some new things for dinner, like roast chicken and veggies in the oven, a one pan meal. Chicken turned out edible, but the veggies were raw on the inside, but burnt on the outside.
I can bake up a storm. I just can't make the dinner yet. But Deity refuses to let me give up and will be giving me lessons. >w<;

Crim: That's what Toboe told me to do. So I went and got some Makeral to try with that the next time we make rice with dinner. 3nodding As of with the stir-fry, what's the best oil/sauce to put into it as it frys?
Kira: I'm thinking of getting one of them, but they're so expensive where I live. Only place that carries them here is Carol's Oriental. it's where I bought the Makeral I mentioned in my reply to Crim.
I also have a rice cooker. I got it for my birthday from my crazy grandparents. Good thing too, cause we have about 7 lbs of raw rice xd And I love the steam feature!
Eiku: I tried to fix it with the soy sauce we have, and it tasted worse lol Found out it was salt-free soy or something. Bascally a healthy version of soy sauce... WHO WOULD MAKE SUCH A THING?!

I love sushi, I seriously would eat it everyday, but I would be broke then. :p
I did make sushi a few times but it takes a lot of practice and patience which I sometimes lack. I even bought some books to learn more about it. heart
