Name: Sophios Fencon So-fee-ohs Fen-son, but you can calls him Sophie wink

Gender: Male
Age: 27
Occupation: Mechanic. He has a powerful instinct when it comes to machines, he can fix it, dissemble it, reassemble it, or reconstruct it into something completely different. Whether its a vehicle, computer*, gun, or a simple little children's toy, if it qualifies in any way shape or form as a machine he's your man. *He doesn't really do computer programming, if it's tech support you might need someone else though he can help a bit.

Physical Description: He stands at 5 feet 7 inches, though he has a tendency, not to slouch exactly, but stand a bit crookedly, so he looses an inch or so of height. His skin is the tan of someone who spends a great deal of time out of doors, though there are numerous lighter scars most notably on both his hands and his right arm. He is missing the pinky, ring, and middle finger of his right hand, having lost them in an 'engineering accident'. They have been replaced by mechanical ones, though the time without use of his right hand had already caused him to decide to become ambidextrous. His hair is black and tends to be a bit messy, he crops it short when he can be bothered but hasn't bothered for a while now, with the result that it comes nearly to his shoulders. His eyes are an almost golden brown color, darker brown near the pupils. Sophie's grin is wide, and often infectious, and he somehow managed to acquire a faint smattering of freckles across his nose, just barely visible beneath his tan when he hasn't got grease of some kind on his face.

His parents would be shocked if they could see what their son is wearing nowadays. Generally, Sophios wears a pair of somewhat baggy cargo pants, plenty of pockets, two belts, one to hold the pants up when he has too much in the pockets and one to hold his tools, and whatever T-shirt he threw on that morning, though if he's feeling particularly lazy he might not have bothered. He's got nothing to hide, and he definitely looks pretty good without one. If it's cold, and it needs to be very much so before he'll feel it enough to mind, he adds a hooded sweatshirt to his basic ensemble. The sweatshirts tend to be a solid color, the T-shirts often emblazoned with some sort of logo or phrase**. Heavy boots, good for walking and working, not so good for tip-toeing around, for out-of-doors escapades, though he's almost as likely to run around barefoot. His ears are pierced, two gold rings in the right, one in the left, and he usually wears a bandanna to keep his hair from getting coated in grease/oil/whatever since stuff can be hard to wash out, and save him the bother of brushing it every morning.
** 'I'm awake and dressed, what more do you want?'
'Out of my mind, be back in five'
'I swear I didn't do it, and I'll never do it again'
'Meddle ye not/ in the affairs of dragons/for thou art crunchy/and good with ketchup'
'By reading this you have given me brief control over your mind'
'Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you.'
'Don't take life too seriously. You'll never get out of it alive. '

Personality: He's very casual with people, happy to finally be someplace where people don't know him by his family name. He generally introduces himself as 'Sophie' without elaborating, and his ever-present grin seems to be infectious. His jokes aren't always funny, but he'll laugh at any of yours. He loves stories, real or fictional, and is usually quite happy to lend an ear. Friendly, with very relaxed personal boundaries, he's always happy to lend a hand. If you so much as mention a mechanical problem, he can be over-enthusiastic in his desire to help, and if you have something interesting he'll probably want to see it even if there's nothing wrong. If you've got a mechanical limb you don't want to talk about, better keep it out of sight.

In spite of coming across as a distinctly happy-go-lucky goofball, he does possess a more serious side, and if you catch him in a bad mood he can be quite astonishingly nasty. Mostly, he does try not to snap at the people he's not actually mad at, but no one's perfect. Just don't drag him out of bed before nine in the morning and you should be fine. Sophie is also exceptionally observant, most notably when it comes to anything mechanical, and has an excellent memory though it's not exactly photographic. Names, on the other hand, he might not remember. You're likely to end up with some kind of nickname or abbreviation even if he recall your actual name.

He loves exploring and being out of doors, and the prospect of the new planet is especially exciting. Unfortunately, he has no sense of direction whatsoever, and is not very good with plant life or nature in spite of a tendency to become deeply interested in it, so if you're out in the woods it might be good to keep an eye on him. Also, don't let him plant-sit, he has a tendency to kill them by accident. Animals and small children are in danger of being spoiled if left alone with him. Warning, he does not often act his age, and doesn't usually mean it when he flirts. It's nothing personal.

History: Sophie was born to the excessively wealthy upper-class kind of family that your average working teen wishes they belonged to. He could live off a trust-fund for the rest of his life, and live well. Problem is, and no one is entirely sure where or how it started, perhaps somewhere between the graduation from private elementary school and the second year of his very expensive high school, but Sophie didn't like the music and the dance and the social events and all the other stuffs that someone of his status was supposed to enjoy. Of course, other hobbies are perfectly acceptable, so long as the hobby is in some way dignified. Even collecting comics or building miniatures would have been fine. Rolling around in oil and grease and coming home smelling of car exhaust is not dignified.

His parents, as parents often do, tried everything in their power to convince their eldest son to do something else. Anything else. Sophie was, after all, supposed to inherit the family name. What would their 'friends' say, after all, if they knew that the Fencon scion preferred pulling apart anything that so much as classified as a machine, examining it, and then putting it back together as something else, more than he enjoyed going to an exorbitant dinner and socializing with their well-bred daughters? How terribly embarrassing, and utterly unacceptable. Not to mention the suits he ruined when he snuck away from the dinner to go back to playing with his precious machines!

When Sophie was eighteen*** he had a bit of an accident. One of the 'undesirable youths' that he'd taken to spending time with when he was avoiding his parents made a mistake when he tried explaining to Sophie how his experimental firearm was supposed to work. This mistake cost the teen three fingers and part of his right palm. His parents, of course, could not allow their eldest to be so disfigured, and so they purchased new fingers for him. It seems somehow ironic that their hope, that the accident would drive him away from his obsession with machines, actually wound up making him a part of one. The fact that he'd almost become crippled did not even slow him down.

Finally, there seemed to be nothing on earth that the hapless parents could do with their son, who couldn't be entirely right in the head. In hopes of possibly passing their fortune to their other child, a perfectly 'normal' young lady, without drawing unwanted attention to themselves, they began seeking a reasonable way to remove this problem child from the picture. And, if nothing on earth seemed to work, then the Peregrine mission could only be the perfect opportunity. With his eccentric ideas, and quite notable skills, he was a welcome enough addition to the crew.

*** How long was the ship's flight by the way? I don't want my numbers to be inconsistent.

Particular Skills: Aside from his borderline-uncanny knack for mechanical stuff, Sophie is also ambidextrous, can play the piano quite well if convinced to, and speaks Latin, French, and some pretty scant smatterings of Italian. He is slightly clumsy regarding things that don't involve tools, but even when he falls flat on his face he usually doesn't get hurt. He can fence, useful as that may be, and, slightly more relevant, knows how to operate most firearms (his aim on the other hand occasionally leaves something to be desired). He is also fairly decent at working with people, and his parents had hoped he would become a diplomat. Problem is, he just understands machines better.

Other Stuff: Sophie is obsessed with machines, yes, and dragons. He has been attempting to combine the two ever since his fingers were replaced, and his Gizmo as it has come to be called, is his favorite pet project. The goal is to create a biomechanical dragon about the size of a cat with an AI intelligence, a sort of pet machine. Depending on what's what in this world, he could either be successful, almost finished, or nowhere close at the start of the roleplay. He loves listening to music, maybe a little too loud, while he works (or does whatever). I know nothing about the bands from the future, but some examples of the kind of music he listens to would be [Awesome Forces][Sun Goes Down][Scotty Doesn't Know] Note: The last song is rather inappropriate

User Image I finished my little doodle at last! Don't hurt me Jo It took me especially long 'cause I'm not very good with anatomy and it was so totally and completely necessary to draw him shirtless. It's part of his everyday attire, and how else would everyone get to see his... er... scars. Yeah, that's totally the reason. rolleyes

No shading because that would take more effort than Zephy currently feels like expending. Maybe later I'll add it, until then enjoy the flat colors~

Basically he'll be wearing something similar to this, in assorted colors/patterns. He was meant to be barefoot in the shirtless sketch, but I ran out of room in my book so his feet aren't visible. Oh well, everyone knows what feet look like, right? Couldn't think of another thing to put on his shirt that I could actually manage to fit on there, in a legible fashion, so 'free hugs' it is. I would take him up on it wink

He doesn't really 'do' formal-wear, and why should he have to, seeing as he's just a mechanic now. As for pajamas...he sleeps in his boxers so mebbie you'd better knock first if you're coming to get him because he's not really against answering the door without adding anything. Unless you're trying to wake him up 'too early, in which case you'll either get no response at all, or something will be thrown in your general direction. Quite possibly a hammer or a wrench.
