Name: Kyaka
Age: As old as the earth on which you walk.
Gender: Male, most assuredly male.
Appearance: Kyaka bears several forms. Three of which are human, two of which are animal, and one of which is a deformed monster that none who yet live have ever seen, none save one.
Standing as a human the first and most common form you will ever see Kyaka in is that of a human. His hair bleached white and yet prismatic as crystal. It takes the light and reflects it in a rainbow through his locks. He looks about twenty in this form, his skin pale and smooth, with bright blue eyes. Eyes that are almost too blue to be natural. They stand out in any crowd, a beacon of wisdom and intelligence.
The second form is that of a child, no older than eight, with the same silvered hair and the same bright blue eyes. The only really important thing is that this child often times just doesn’t seem to be there. When in this form, Kyaka has the option of deciding that he does not wished to be noticed. And when he has made this decision, it becomes extremely difficult to do so. It’s like you know he’s there, but it is not important. He can be standing there dressed in most garish costume, screaming and dancing around you, and all you will ever notice was that there was a child around. That’s it.
The third and last of his human forms is that of an older man, perhaps in his seventies. He has a grandfather kind of appeal. As this elderly man Kyaka has the ability to watch and learn most anything before him. In this form he can learn things without pause, with just a look or a glimpse he can figure things out. It’s not fool proof, but it is handy.
Of his more beastly forms, the first is fully an animal. Base the body first on a small black dragon, then shrink the flesh down until the form is emaciated in the extreme. Then coat the form in bright purple fur. Line the spine with a thicker ruff of black fur, hiding the ivory spikes. Then peel the flesh from the paws until only bone remains, on the paws and a short ways up the limbs, then to the same from the tail, from the tip to a foot back. Now the wings. Take their large forms, and then set to them a rot, now speed up the progression until they are lumps of rotted flesh, torn and disgusting, just useless appendages. Line the form with hundreds of battle scars, thick and most partially hidden by the fur, but still there.
For the second of the beast forms, stand up the first and lengthen the legs. Flesh it out more, and lengthen the claws. Take the horns and twist them into an ornate crown, and then turn the paws into more human hands and lengthen the tips of the rotten wings into another set of ivory claws. Now you have the idea of the forms you may see Kyaka in.
But there is a sixth and final form. It is a twisted and grotesque thing, good for only one thing. Killing, and in this form it is all the Kyaka can and will do. He kills and kills until the earth is red with blood and the screams of the dying fall silent. There is only one who has seen this form and still lives.
Kingdom: Kyaka does not originate from any one kingdom, but rather moves from place to place.
Position: Kyaka is something of a historian. He has been around since the earth was first made, and there is nothing in history that he doesn’t know. He follows the major events and plays a part in them, as he does now.
Weapons: Aside from his more beastly forms, Kyaka has nothing more than a pair of daggers that he wields when he is human. They are weapons he has had for as long as he can remember.
Personality: Kyaka is a peculiar being. His many years have left him with some strange quirks. He is both joyous and somber, grim and yet optimistic. He always looks at both sides of a situation, even if he usually only agrees with one. He’s an easy guy to get along with, always willing to listen, but talking with him can be very… interesting. There are times when he is very attentive, there with you as you speak… and other times he cannot seem to keep track of what is happening right before him. His age does not make him senile, but it can make things confusing, especially given how much he knows and how far his memory stretches back.
Bio: Kyaka was born with the world. As everything came into being there was an egg resting atop a volcano, at the junction of all elements. Where light and dark met with the water and the fire and the earth and the air. There was where Kyaka and his siblings were born. This was where the Faldas came to the earth.
Faldas were a race unlike any other. They were born of the earth for the earth. They can commune with all creatures, with everything that has life, and require their companionship. Faldas do not consume food as others do, but rather eat nothing more than the emotions of those around them. They feed off the energy of others, and so they need to be with others to survive. They often wish for nothing more than the health of the earth and those on it, which is reason enough for them to put themselves at risk to preserve it. They are hardy creatures that live for ever so long as they are not struck down by another.
Faldas are amazing creatures, born in groups of three. One is the brother, the protector and overseer of them all. The next is the female, the mother, she is who births the next generation and is the heart of them all. The last is the lover. He is the most passionate of the three, fiercely protective and the speaker of sorts. Kyaka was the lover.
These three sides need one another like the plants need sunlight and water. They hunger for the touch of one another more than anything else. And all three must be present in order for the next generation to be made.
The Faldas lived for hundreds of thousands of years in complete peace, harmonizing with the world and those in it. And then a strange creature came from the lands that are now known as Gannel. A creature that is now know as the ‘Silk Bane’. These creatures came from Gannel and made it clear that they had only one desire, only one purpose. To slay the Faldas.
By this point in time the Faldas were numerous in population and had discovered that they possessed the ability to share knowledge. That whatever one knew all knew. Like they had some kind of collective well in which all that they knew was deposited into. Everything was in this place, everything that one experiences, all did.
And when the Silk Bane first attacked, all were aware of it.
The Silk Bane are a singularly disgusting race, and they attacked the unsuspecting group with a single minded ferocity. All Faldas felt the fear of those first few. Something about the Silk Bane frightens Faldas so intensely that they are rendered completely incapacitated, shaking in terror.
And the Silk Bane love the fear and pain of the Faldas. So those first few Faldas’ deaths were felt by all, the slow agonizing death tearing at all Faldas every where.
And then the slaughter truly began. As each Falda was hunted down one by one.
Kyaka felt each death with horror, for he was the father of the race and their deaths were horrible and they were his children.
And then, when there were so few left, they all gathered together and made a last stand against these beasts. Together they turned into a form that had never before been known to any Falda, a disturbing form that was a perversion of what they were. And they managed to kill a great many Silk Banes, but at a terrible cost. One by one the triangles fell, and even those who were not killed outright lost their sides and died purely from the grief of it. Until the oldest triangle was also the only one left.
They stood strong, killing and destroying without pause or question. Until one of the poisoned claws fell upon the mother, Ariana. It slid into her, and the pain of it struck Kyaka dumb as he felt her die, torn away from him. Then those claws slid through his wings, poisoning him as well.
Kyran, the brother, howled out his anguish and fell upon his sides, but Ariana was already dead. The sound of the cry quailed the Silk Banes for a moment, and Kyran hugged Kyaka to him, turning to his wings where the poison rotted through them, and then to the joint. He acted without a thought, his tongue sliding across the joints and scoring the flesh and meat, and especially the blood vessels from the bone, just as the poison was about to enter Kyaka’s blood stream. And then, having ingested the poison, he died.
The Silk Banes, think that all was over, left, and Kyaka was left, just barely living, amongst the carnage, weak and in complete anguish. They were dead. All of them were dead.
For days, weeks, months, and then years, Kyaka just lay there. His wings were useless, but that didn’t matter. The horrible thing was that his sides were gone. And for Faldas, this was a fate worse than death. It felt like he was being eaten alive, like he was being torn to shreds and then being burned, over and over. It was deeper than that too. It was like some one had torn him to pieces.
The mountain upon which this happened became well known for being haunted. The screaming started up at random and it struck all those who heard it as the most depressing sound they had ever heard. It echoed for miles and kept people from approaching for years and years.
Until a small village exiled a young girl. They were a superstitious people and the girl was not at all normal. She was no more than three years old, and they threw her to the mountain. To be taken by the wolves.
But the wolves saw her, and rather than eat her, they coaxed her forth, bringing her to the massive grave side of the Faldas, littered with dark bones and scraps of brightly colored fur. And then they stopped and pushed her forward to where a lump of grosteque and rotten purple fur huddled, two skeletons clutched to him, rotten wings limp on the ground.
She approached him, and he did not respond. And for reasons she could understand at the time, she felt compelled to sit with this creature. And sit she did, for days. Days and days, until she faced starvation, and knew she would die beside this creature. She lay against the stone and closed her eyes, resolving herself to die beside him, when suddenly his eyes shot up, wide and bright crimson he stared at her.
She stared back, and then all of a sudden he stood and gingerly picked her up, leaving behind the skeletons at last. He took her into the forest, and as he walked he also left behind that unnatural form, taking her and nursing her back to health… and he has traveled with her ever since.
Other: Kyaka is rather protective of this girl, and he will kill whomever she has issue with.
Name: Ariana.
Age: She is a simple age of sixteen.
Gender: Female.
Appearance: Ariana looks quite normal during the daylight hours. Aside from her eyes that take on the colors of the sky she has a nice olive tone to her skin and long black hair that stretches down to her calves. She more often not keeps it tied up to keep from getting in the way of whatever she’s doing.
It’s at night though that she becomes very interesting to look at. Her skin turns midnight blue, with flecks of glowing silver pieces, like stars. She gains glittering claws, excellent for tearing things apart. Her eyes turn bright gold like the moon on those clear and gorgeous nights. There is no change to her personality, nor to her abilities, just her appearance.
Kingdom: Ariana travels as Kyaka travels.
Position: Kyaka’s closest companion.
Weapons: Ariana keeps at her side a rapier, hides throwing knives on her person, and also favors a whip for any number of reasons. She is also very proficient at other weapons, but these are the three she keeps.
Personality: Ariana is a very grim and serious young woman. She doesn’t laugh in the presence of others, and rarely smiles. Kyaka is the only one she has any confidence in, and the only one she shows her lighter side. To others she is a solemn and pessimistic companion, always distrustful and extremely stubborn. She doesn’t talk often, preferring to just hang back and watch.
Bio: Ariana was born under the stars, on a special night at a special time. And she was born with midnight skin and crystal looking flecks in her skin. Already this was cause for worry amongst the others. But then she started to grow, her hair a deep black color, unlike her parent’s golden brown mops of hair. She was solemn and silent, never crying and with serious eyes that changed with the weather, and she always changed at night.
She never got along with the other kids, and preferred to sit and stare off into the distance rather than play. And soon it became known why.
There was a murder in the village, and as it took place, Ariana ducked her head between her knees and screamed. It took place under the starry sky, as she was most in tune with herself.
Ariana had an ability. It was not particularly strong, nor very abnormal on its own, but combined with the night and time she was born on, it became very significant. Ariana had a sort of knack for seeing the darkness in people. Not like she knew what they had done wrong or anything, but she just kind of knew when some one was a bad person, and had a sort of instinct for how people would behave. So she knew that those men would get into a fight, and she had known that the one man would kill, and that the other was too good natured to expect it.
The elders of the village heard of what had happened, and thought instead that the girl had caused the crime. And indeed, the man who had committed the murder claimed that it was she who had compelled him to do it, through witch craft and mind control. So without a word to the contrary, she was cast into the forest.
But the same thing that made her able to read and understand people, also allowed her to read animals, and so the wolves met with her, fully intent on eating her, but at the age of three she knew how to keep them from doing so, and thus she gained their trust, and was taken to see Kyaka. And she saw the darkness in him too, the sadness and pain, and so she stayed there with him. And she had stayed with him ever since too. Because she knew that along with his darkness there was light, and she loves him like a child loves her father, and like a friend adores another. They are very close.
Other: Just as Kyaka is protective of her physically, she is very protective of him mentally. If any one does him damage, she will strike back at who ever does the harm.
