In his attempt to keep as far away from thickly populated areas as possible, it had been days since little Spectre had a decent meal. It was times like these when he found himself wandering the southern lands, since nothing very edible grew to the north. As he tread along, staring at his small and obscured paws with their perpetual wisps trailing past him, Spectre's stomach gave a great rumble, to which he responded with a rather pathetic whimper. "Maybe I should just go visit a town... just real quick. I won't stay long..."
The pup raised his head and looked around, something he hadn't done in so long that he was confused as to where in Honshu he was. The air was warm and only a little humid- the trees around him swelled with the excess of moisture. They weren't tropical trees though; he was in a normal forest on a normal path. Yet somehow he felt wary about where he was- he didn't travel south much so the terrain was unfamiliar. But the sky was dappled with only a few fluffy clouds and the sun was shining, so there wasn't much to complain about. "This wouldn't happen if I looked normal and not like a freak..." The pup's crooked mouth turned into a crooked scowl and his little brows furrowed. "S'not fair..." With drooping ears he sighed and began poking his head around in the brush to locate some berries or SOME manner of food.

It wasn't often that the blue winged kuniku took to the skies. Not very many had the ability to, and he wasn't one who particularly enjoyed the flamboyant or flashy life. But on this particular day, he felt the slight inclination to, and a flash of blue, white, and black marked the air above through the trees that thicketed the area under.
Things had been on the male's mind lately; none that offered very pleasant solace. And while he wasn't one to intentionally seek strife, he could not completely ignore reality, either. Life would be more enjoyable if others simply had some sense in them, or if they just... stayed away from those who did have sense.
As he trailed along the treetops, the male's ears perked as he heard a noise from within the forest. Curious, he angled his flight to get a better view, and peeked through the branches. He made out a black, small figure with slight misting vapor surrounding it. Could it be an oni? If it had been, he should chase it out of the region, or else it would become just an annoyance later.
Intent, the blue kuniku dived through the trees, straight for the black figure, who seemed to be rummaging through the bushes... Funny, it looked like a small pup!

"Hrm?" With his head and excessive chest fur currently stuck in a brambly bush, Spectre could only just make out an unfamiliar sound that was getting louder and closer, very quickly. Beginning to panic, he struggled to pull himself from the bush, whimpering and nearly crying as the sound grew louder and louder. His paws thrashed against thorns and pointed leaves- he began to flail in agony at his entrapment.
Finally, after what seemed like minutes, horribly long minutes, the pup pried his head from the bush and with wide, blank eyes stared at the sky to see a blue and white blur diving right at him! Instinctively Spectre rolled over onto his stomach, heaving his little chest in a panic, and frantically crawled toward the underbrush for cover. At this point tears were beginning to form in the frightened little pup's empty eyes. "Why me? Why me?! I-I knew I shouldn't have gone to the south!!" It was all he could do to simply cover his head with his stubby paws and shut his eyes.

It was the frantic squeal that slowed down the blue kuniku's dive and take a closer look before making an immediate aggressive move. With a calm, skilled swoop, he landed in front of the bushes the earlier black distraction had been caught in, just in time to see the same form crawling into the thickets. He padded over to the shivering shape and blinked. It was a kuniku child, but whose did it belong to? And why were there strange mists surrounding it?
"What are you doing alone?" he asked, tilting his head to the side while keeping an eye on the surroundings.
Had the little one been scared of a nearby oni? Was there danger nearby? If so, he had to be alert and on his feet. Perhaps an oni had cursed the little pup to have such a strange attribute!

Eyes shut tight, paws over his head, and shivering all over, Spectre could barely hear the winged Kuniku speak past his own whimpering. Moments went by and still no attack, so the Kuniku pup chanced a peek over his shoulder, still very much in a protective stance- if it could even be called a stance.
Behind him, keeping a wary eye over the surrounding area, was what looked to him like a blue and white Kuniku-bird hybrid. Could Kuniku mate with other species? He didn't think that was possible, but then again he knew little about mating and all of that nonsense. In fact the thought was quite repulsive.
Lifting a paw for a better view, the spectral pup replied in a shaky tone. "A-alone? I-I'm always alone. W-what are you looking f-for?"
