Ishtar sat on the swing in the park, he was swinging back and forth moving it with his feet and holding a flower in his hands. He lifted it to his nose and smiled, the color reminded him of a girl, one with a blue bow tied around her neck. It had been a particularly long day, and he was drained, it was those beif moments when he was able to relax did he find his thoughts always gravitating toward the girl in blue. He allowed his mind to flow inward and outward with thoughts of her. It was humerous almost, how it seemed he only showed affection to the small female and his adopted mother. Pathetic if you thought of how many resided in his family.
Night air tickled his nose as the boy tilted his head backward and continued to swing, daydreaming of the future.

Marrie had been lying in tall grass nearby looking up at the night sky. The sky could hold Marries attention all day and all night. By day Marrie was longing to fly through the clouds and chase birds no matter how high they went, but by night She would just stare at the beauty of the starry sky. Learning the constellations and the stories behind them. The stars were magical and the Moon was always changing. But the sound of someone swinging at night was a rarity and she popped her head up looking toward the sound. She smiled with little hearts in here eyes when she recognized Ishtar in the swing. He was so pretty that he could hold her gaze better then the moon. She actually felt safer in Ishtar arms then in the company of her protective brothers. So it seems natural to her to fling herself out of the tall dark grass at the dreaming Ishtar with a delighted squeal being the only warning.

Ishtar’s eyes widened as something flung itself on him; he gulped silently and dropped the flower, thinking fast to avoid injury to either party. Gripping onto the thing that flew at him he toppled out of the swing, flipping slightly in midair so he cushioned her fall. A deep blush fell on his cheeks when he saw what… who his unknown attacker really was. He fought with his voice, willing it to work, and avoiding the growing uncomfortable-ness that seemed to accompany this reverie. Surely it was only is mind that conjured her, but feeling her thin waste under one arm assured him, this was no mere dream.

“M… my … princess… what brings you here… so … suddenly, and alone to boot...” It must have taken the boy three tries to form a coherent sentence, but that was as clever as it got for the prince of words. He kicked himself inwardly and tried to avoid making himself look like more of an idiot. But since when was little Marie looking more and more like a girl and less like her brother Adonis? Yes indeed his princess was becoming a fine young woman… which scared the hell out of him.

Marrie giggled and smiled innocently, her arms still wraped tightly around him "I came out to look at the stars, brother was having a bath and I didn't want to wait for him so I went out on my own. I heard there was going to be shooting stars tonight, isn't that magical, maybe one will be a wishing star." She rolled off of him and lay right next to him gazing up at the sky once more. "I love the sky. It's always there, and every now and then, it's face will change with a twinkle. That's why I can't look away from it. I don't want to miss the spilt second when it twinkles." She lay silently for a moment staring up at the sky her eyes sparkling with the refection of the stars in them. "...Oh, A shooting star!" giggle "How beautiful. don't you think so Ishtar? Did you come to look at the stars also?"

Ishtar stared at the girl next to him, ignoring the stars above him. Light and happiness illuminated her face to a wonderful yellow glow. The boy wrung his hands together and tried to think of something that would answer her question.
“You’re beautiful… I mean… they are beautiful, I mean…” he sighed quietly and looked away, a flush coming up to his cheeks.
“So what was your wish?” His white and cream tail wrapped around her waist and he rested his head on her shoulder, turning a lazy eye up to the sky and purring happily. Perhaps one day he would be able to admit to Marrie that the Freudian slip had been completely true, she was far more beautiful then the stars above them.

Her smile widened as she turned to look at him "can't tell you my wish or it won't come true, you know that silly." She moved a strand of hair off her face and the bracelet Ishtar had given her was still on her wrist. "I will tell you it invokes you though." She gave his a quick peck on the nose and snuggled into his side before he could react. Marrie was pretty sure that Ishtar liked her as much as she liked him so she never worried about having to act a certain way around him, she really like just being herself around him. He brothers made her feel stupid sometimes for liking the sky so much and believing in fairies and magic. Ishtar never made her feel stupid so she wanted to always stay with him.

Ishtar grinned inwardly as the blush already illuminating his cheeks deepened. “Does it involve me being your prince and protect you while you daydream and stare at the vast sky?” the boy asked quietly, not really trusting his voice to speak normally, it seemed as thought it would break at the first word. Marrie was always so loving to him, lately Raina had been teasing him that he was ‘love struck’.

The girl tucked into his side had piqued his interest, and had always been able to hold it somehow, ever since the inevitable day they met as mere children, where he attempted to teach her the fine art of fishing and getting dirty. Lifting a hand he lightly brushed the hair from her eyes and kissed her forehead, happy to merely be there… to be her prince and protector. Nothing would be able to keep him from making her happy… whatever that took, even climbing to the moon and picking out a star.

“what are you thinking about my sweet?”

"Maybe" Marrie said sheepishly and a pale pink tone touched her cheeks. "But the stars already told me, I'd fall in love a boy that was born with roses in his eyes." She playfully rolled on top of him once more and looked into his ruby eyes. Her own eyes smiling down at him. "You're the one aren't you, the one for me to love and be with?" She notice the deep blush on his face for the first time and realized she was making him uncomfortable. "Oh, I'm sorry. I shouldn't say things so suddenly." She quickly rolled off of him and didn't tuck into his side but sat up looking at the sky once more following another falling star with her eyes.

"I wonder what stars sound like."

Ishtar looked at the girl suddenly who was lying on top of him and smiled barely able to hide the pounding in his heart. “My dear I am whoever you wish for me to be.” Lovingly he brushed a strand of hair from her face and blushed lightly once more. When she leapt off of him her missing weight on his stomach made him feel empty.

His gaze never faltered from her to the stars as he spoke once more, merely to respond to the question she left between them. “I believe the stars would whisper such sweet things we would be incapable to understand. Their melody all the sounds and whispers the night has to offer, their sent a musk of night and the soft fragrance of jasmine. Their representative on earth, the only who is capable to be as beautiful as them, the only that could ever take my heart, you my dear.” He reached for her in that moment, wishing to draw her near to him and hold her past all eternity.

Marrie blushes deeply and covers her smile with one hand and hugs her knees tightly then turned and fell into his arms. "You ...you say such sweet things Ishtar, I always thought of you as my prince, but Adonis said boys don't like girls that act as carefree as me, so I thought that maybe ... Well I think I stated to love you when you caught a fish for me the first time, but I didn't know what love was."

Lowered her gaze from his face a bit embarrassed for the first time. "You understand me, you make my heart race and my blood feel hot, that is what love feels like right? I want to support your dreams too. Like you support mine." She raised her eyes to his again blush still deep on her pale cheeks "I....I love you Ishtar"

Ishtar blinked slowly, trying her best to understand what exactly was happening to him. His heart fluttered like mad making it impossible to talk, almost making it impossible to think. So in his absence of words the young male held onto the girl like the last lifeline left in his existence. She was the only thing that kept him grounded.
“I love you too my princess.” He was finally able to manage.

Silently he cuddled her, through a fluttering heart that seemed to want to crawl out of his mouth. He giggled, actually giggled and kissed her forehead, smiling the biggest he had ever. Ishtar would never face the same problems with love as his adopted mother did, not while his Marrie was still breathing. His gaze went to the sky, in time for a shooting star to pass overhead. It crashed somewhere in the distance, meeting the world with a wonderful display of light.

“Marrie I would travel across the world to find that star for you, and bring it home. Your very own star. Would you like that?” His garnet colored eyes searched hers, meaning every word he had said.

Cuddled into Ishtar's chest Marrie's eyes had also fallowed the falling star and the glow was still reflected in her eye as he listening to Ishtar. The idea of Ishtar giving her a star to keep forever seemed enchanting and magical. She was extremely curious as to what a fallen star would look like but the thought of her prince leaving her alone to go on a journey didn't seem right, after all she like adventure also. "do you not want me to come with you, I promise I'm not as weak as my brothers make me seem."

She look up at him her eyes wide with hope. "My daddy is always gone on long journeys, but he leaves everyone behind when he goes, I don't want to be left behind, by you too. I want to see everything by your side."

“I never doubted your strength my dear, would you like to come with me to get your star?” He asked while smoothing her hair and holding her close. The idea of going on a quest to find the perfect present for his lovely princess appealed to him more than anything in that moment. And if he found anyone along the way that needed him he would heal him or her to make up for the time he would have to take away from his job.

“We would have to tell your brother where you are going.” He whispered caressing her face gently and lovingly. Gently he ran a finger down her back, and back up to her shoulders. Just touching her made him feel calmer, surer of their situation. She brought out the best in him, the part of him that he had to keep locked away when he was healing those who had suffered. Ishtar had to look at the world with little to no emotion, but the girl he held so close, she made him see in color, and not just shades of black white and red.

"YES! I want to go with you silly, even if it wasn't to see a fallen star, I'd want to go." She was quiet for a moment as he smoothed her hair. "Do you go on lots of quests? My mommy said you were with the Anbu and that they can be scary. Will they be mad if you leave?" and she fell quiet again, she didn't want to get him in trouble with dangerous people.
"I'll tell my family, but I think you will have the harder job of telling yours."
She kept her eyes lowered, she didn't want Ishtar to see the worry in her eyes. But she wasn't a good actress, and her emotions were always apparent even if you couldn't see her face. Her small body tensed in his arms when she thought of the trouble this quest my cause. "What if they say we can't go?" Then another thought popped into her head, she knew very very little about Anbu, so anything was possible in her mind. "What if they want you to be with an Anbu girl? ....I'm not fit." She trailed off tears falling down her cheeks so she buried her face in Ishtar's chest, feeling like she already lost him."

Ishtar smiled softly to the girl, reassuringly. “My dear, if I couldn’t go, I wouldn’t. They are my family, and I believe they love me so I should be able to handle this. Besides if we told Valiant she would understand if it were for true love.” He tilted her chin up with his finger, kissing her forehead and smoothing away the wrinkles there. He chuckled at her notation about a Anbu girl and shook his head.

“Don’t hide from me precious, I want to know how you feel about these things. I would never find a girl I love as much as you, anbu or no.” Ishtar lifted her hand to his lips kissing each fingertip lightly while looking up at her. He meant every word… Marrie had stolen his heart and never really gave it back.

His gaze shifted to the area the star had fallen… it wasn’t too far, about a mile or so out of town… but they would have to go soon if they wanted to find it before humans.
“I will get you that star.” He mumbled, staring at the night sky.
