Name: Moira
Age: 18
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft: N/A
Rank: N/A
Physical Description: Moira stands an even 5'. What she lacks in height, however, she makes up for in presence. Shoulders back, chin up, make eye contact; these were the things her mother constantly commanded of her. Her features are angular, her chin pointed; not unattractive, but calling her pretty would be a bit of a stretch. Intense would be a more appropriate description. Her skin is unusually fair for someone who spends a great deal of time outside, a consequence of simple genetics. If she spends an excessive amount of time outdoors, she just burns and peels, never getting the benefit of a tan. Thick, black hair frames her face, cut at jagged angles and falling just short of her chin in some places, well past her shoulders in others. Her green eyes are often shadowed by thick black brows which are almost perpetually drawn down in a misleadingly serious expression, whether it matches her mood or not. Her lips are full, but her mouth is a bit small to properly fit the rest of her features, compounding her 'interesting' appearance.
Personality: Moira's personality is formed by equal bits of pride, a strong will, knack for sarcasm, and a complete lack of understanding of social propriety. She often lacks the ability to discern what is or isn't proper conversation or when humor is not an appropriate response. This can often cause her to seem callous, but it is almost always genuine misunderstanding. As she becomes more integrated with others of her age, she will gain a better understanding of empathy. She is an outgoing girl, friendly, but often quick to judge. First impressions stick with her, and it is difficult to overcome them once she has put a label on someone. Because of this, she tends to write people off too early for her own good – a shortcoming she will eventually have to learn to overcome. She tends to take command of situations whenever possible, feeling a need to be in control of her surroundings at all times. She has a tendency to voice her opinions even when they aren't asked for, especially in the presence of her peers.
Moira's morality finds its fault in doing what is right in her mind simply because it is right. Rarely does the thought of consequence cross her thoughts, and she very rarely questions whether or not her sense of right and wrong is always correct. She is, as many teenage girls are, a bit too headstrong and sarcastic for her own good, and her dry sense of humor may mislead others to take her seriously at the wrong times. Nevertheless, she is a generally good-natured individual who is experiencing freedom out from under her mother's yoke for the first time.
History: Moira's history is generally free of drama, danger, and excitement, at least to her knowledge. She carries herself in the manner of one who has learned over time to care for themself. She is very sure of her own intelligence, and her lack of exceedingly good looks are a small price to pay in exchange for what she considers an excess of intelligence and wit. She would not trade her ability to assess and take control of a situation for the ability to woo a man. In her rather logical mind, the latter simply isn't a worthwhile skill to have.
Her mother, once a dragon rider, lost her dragon many years ago. Having survived the following despair, she attempted to fill the the resulting emotional gap with family and children. Man after man, child after child. She frequently moved from hold to hold in search of whatever life might replace the loss of her companion. It was an unsuccessful attempt, leaving Moira's mother a rather cold and distant individual. She handled her children in an almost military fashion, focusing on discipline and educating them in the usual subjects. In this way, she was able to channel her frustration. She often placed an educational spotlight of dragons and their vital roles in the history of Pern, hoping to somehow live vicariously through one of her children should they rise to her former rank. Moira's mother is defined by her attempts to fill the hole left by her dragon's death, but is unwilling to admit such a fault. Because of her own devotion to the traditions and customs of dragonriding, she began education on such things at an early age. Moira, however, never considered this less-than-liberal upbringing to be a negative thing. She does not mourn the lack of playtime, as she found her way into trouble often enough even under the reign of her mother's agenda. Moira has four siblings, of which she is the eldest. However, being several years older than her siblings (and the only one born to her mother when she was still a rider), she has little relationship with them.
Pets: None
Other/Talents: Uh... she's a real badass at mud-flinging. Not the verbal sort, either. Moira is exceptionally witty and has a knack for evaluating people, which stems from her tendency to look at them from a logical rather than emotional viewpoint.
