Full title: "Ohio Legislator's Bill Dictates That Men Should Have Final Say On Abortion"
State Rep. John Adams (R-OH) has re-introduced radical legislation that would prevent a woman from having an abortion until she gets written consent from the biological father. As proposed, the bill triggers criminal penalties against women for “providing a false biological father.” Adams says the “first-degree misdemeanor” would be punishable with up to “six months” in jail and a “$1,000 fine.” Labeled by Adams as a “father’s right bill,” the lawmaker would give men the final say on abortion in the state of Ohio:
In the case where the father isn’t known, House Bill 252 would compel the woman to provide a list of names of people who may be the father in an effort to determine paternity. The bill also would make it a crime for women to lie about who the father is, and make it illegal for doctors to perform abortions without the father’s consent.
The bill would force a woman to have a child if the father does not agree to an abortion.
“That child should be born, not killed,” Adams said.
Adams first introduced the legislation in 2007. Already, this bill has at least 15 co-sponsors. Pro-Choice Ohio issued a statement saying Adams’ bill “is a clear attack on a woman’s freedom and privacy.” AJ at Feminists For Choice says the bill is “another mechanism for demonizing and isolating women who have sex.” (HT: Pam’s House Blend)

No way in hell Governor Strickland (a Democrat) would ever sign that bill. Besides, both houses of the Ohio legislature went Democratic. It would be a bit of a stretch to get the votes, even with pro-life Democrats in tow.
I lived in Ohio for a year, though, and there is one thing I do agree with that other pro-choice folk are against. Abortion clinics have signs now telling you that there are options and you don't have to get an abortion if you don't want one, and go ahead and call these numbers for more info. Considering how many guys do try to shuffle reluctant girlfriends off to the clinic, I'm happy to see options being presented.

I know this is old, but I have something to say about this.
In the case of not knowing the father, I believe the above solution is very, very, very wrong. Plus, what does that accomplish? Getting signatures from what can be upwards of 10+ people? Waste of resource. Better to put that effort and money to taking kids out of bad homes and away from irresponsible parents.
However, I believe if the parents are married, that the man really should have a say. I mean, a woman has a say if the man would rather she didn't carry through, and he ends up having to pay child support.
I know there are holes in my logic, and I'm not trying to take on the world. Every situation is different. But women who won't even think about what their partners need, want, and feel, are bad people. I'd like to see some mens rights represented here. If it "takes two to tango," it should take two to decide. Maybe mandatory counseling for both partners, separately and together.

I'm a guy and I don't agree with it. Let the women have their abortion. We already have too many kids as of now anyways.
