"Where are we going, Pelli?" The Goddess asked of herself as they moved away from the two rogues they had been travelling with for the past couple of weeks - to no avail, of course.

"Not far." Pelli snapped. "Stop worrying. You know where we are going. You're me, too. You're us. You know what I think so think like me!" She shook her head and the long, black braids fell about her shoulders.

Rokopelli was a petite lioness who would probably not get much bigger than what she was now. Her markings were simple yet meaningful and, if it were not for her rainbow-filled wings, would have merged perfectly with the desert she had been born in - and reawakened those few years ago. She would return there, someday, to the Tuiat'tekam, when she had grown up enough that she could trust herself to take responsibility. As it was, being responsible was not her strong point, as she had so proved when trying to help Cassian.

She'd only made things worse, and that's why she was travelling with the mortals; Cassian and Illena. To help undo her magic.

"We shouldn't be going here." Roko, whined. "What about Cassie?"

Roko was Rokopelli's child self. Perhaps even her true self. Roko was kind-hearted, sweet, a cub at heart and thought only of playing and fun. She was the half you'd most likely want to meet and befriend, because you'd never get a unkind word from her. Roko also never ever used her powers, for she was scared of them

"Will you stop your complain, Roko! We're going where I want us to go! Cassie will be alright. He has Illena." Pelli replied with a hiss, wrinkling her nose a little.

Pelli, on the other paw, was a different character altogether. She wanted nothing more than to practise her powers, become stronger so that they could wreak revenge on those who would hurt them: namely their true mother who had sealed Rokopelli so long ago. It was the sealing that, in the end, had led to this duel personality. Perhaps, before the sealing, she had not been the Goddess of Confusion at all. Even still, Pelli was determined that she would get stronger. And, whilst not evil or cruel, was certainly eager to show-off and be in charge of her other personality. However, whilst she was stronger-willed and a more 'take action' kind of girl, she did retain something that they both shared. An innocence, a lack of understanding of adult things. A naiveness that linked them. Perhaps there were other common qualities too. Perhaps if they came to realise this, the personalities would merge again and they'd return to something akin to normal.

Perhaps not...

Finally they reached a pool of water and, with a deep sigh, Rokopelli came to its edge, balancing there as she leaned over to peer at herself. For a moment it seemed she might be in some sort of trance and then, as if by magic - well, it sort of was magic - the snake bangles at her forepaws came alive, uncurling and slithering back away from their owner to sit, watching her with their jewel eyes.

"What are--?" Roko's question was cut off by a shrill scream and in the next second the Goddess was plunging into the pool, leaving the snakes to bob their heads, seemingly confused at why they had been left behind.

A moment later and the female surfaced, spitting water and laughing and then weeping.

"Wasn't that fun, Roko?"

"Noooo~ nonononono. Get out!"

"We shall stay!!"

And so the endless arguments continued...

Khuluma was not one for this hot, overbearing weather and travel had once again worn the small cub down. While larger than other cubs, the godling was still not as big as the other gods he had seen. In such humid weather, the cub was miserable and hoarse, finding it hard to talk, which was a real problem for the god of persuasive speech. Still, he was slowly getting use to the world of mortals, though he would never associate with any at the moment. As such, he noticed two walking and made a point to keep himself away from view and walk in the opposite direction. Even though he was small, the wings was something he did not want to hide. He took great pride in his appearance, from his golden spots to his sun-bright hair, which was looking rather frayed at this point. God or no god, apparently no one was free from a bad hair day.

Deciding to take a break to preen, the god started to walk to find a place to rest that was clean and would leave him somewhere he would not have to worry about bugs. As much as he learned more about the mortal realm, he was also learning a lot more about things he disliked. The small cub was nothing more than a godling, with no association to a mortal realm aside that he knew he had a domain that conquered some aspect of mortal life. Right now, he was far more interested in finding other gods, all of which had neglected him in the God Haven.

Despite being alone, Khuluma didn’t think he was hard to get along with. He loved talking and was naturally curious, but it seemed he had a hard time getting along with some people. He liked to talk and some people didn’t like to hear what he had to say. As of right now, his usual sunny, warm personality was darkened by the heat and travel. Being alone never fitted him well.

When he spotted water, he went to both fresh up and refresh his senses. Looking bad never impressed anyone. As he did, he heard someone, and by the sound of the tone, they were having a verbal fight. The thought sparked him, and while he didn’t want to meet a mortal, the idea of eavesdropping on an argument was pulling him closer. What he saw flooded him with a great deal of happiness. It was a goddess! A beautiful one, though wet, sitting in the water and …talking to herself?

Confused, the little godling looked to see if anyone else was about, but saw no one. Well, the little god was never one to remain wondering for too long when he could just ask and find out. If there was an argument, .........................................................................................he would be happy to help.

Slipping over, Khuluma went to the water’s edge, avoiding the puddles caused by the splash, and looked out. “Hello! I’m Khuluma. Who are you talking to?” He asked, looking around and back to the goddess. She was very pretty, and he was taken in by her vivid colors, long hair, and jewelry.

The snake bangles left to fend for themselves at the edge of the water dipped their heads this way and that, as if desperate to get to their owner but were afraid of going into the water. They were gold and so would not rust, but perhaps their eyes would lose that brilliant lustre in the muggy water the Goddess had chosen for her bath?

However, as the little golden male spoke up the snakes went rigid, returning to nothing more than bangles shimmering on the bank.

Rokopelli looked up, startled. She hadn't noticed anyone else was here and then, suddenly, without warning....poof! There he was! All golden and shiny with those cute, big, baby eyes and the pretty jewellery. Rokopelli liked jewellery. Actually, she loved it, especially ones of gold and jewels that shined. Her eyes set on the little ring of gold at his throat and a happy little chirp sprang up in her throat.

What a cutieee~!

"Who are we--?"

"--Talking to?" She blinked and grinned. "Us, silly! Who else?" She didn't consider that maybe others didn't have another voice in their head, though if she'd thought about it, that would have been obvious.

"I am Roko!"

"And I am Pelli."

"So, together that makes us Rokopelli! We don't remember seeing you before. You sure are cute and small!" She was moving back towards the bank now, using her tail as a rudder. She had acquired the skill from her time with Juuku by the sea. Just which part of the sea she couldn't quite remember, now.

"Where did you come from, Khuluma?" She asked, pulling herself up onto dry land and shaking herself unceremoniously. Drops of water sprayed the air and, when she was done, her fur stuck up at all sorts of ridiculous angles. She gave him a sort of lopsided grin and then, lifting each paw in turn, allowed the snakes to slither back into position at her ankles.

Then, she turned her bi-coloured eyes back to him and realised just how cute and fluffy he looked! Eee! "Can we...pet your pretty hair?" She asked, as if it was the most normal question in the world.

Khuluma was more than a little confused now. It seemed the one goddess was making two introductions, and the godling had to look about around to see if there was anyone else about that he had not seen or someone in the water. When he saw no one, he started to slowly realize that this goddess was talking about herself and only herself. Well, herselves. It seemed she had two names and two voices, different in inflection. Was he suppose to play along with the game or correct her?

Still looking around to see if he could spot anyone who could either be the other person or make sure he wasn’t hearing wrong, he gave a soft smile at being called cute. “Why…thank you? I..guess I’m small compared to you.” He liked to think he was more handsome, but cute was still a compliment. There was never a time he wouldn’t take someone taking note of how lovely he was, and while he usually warmed up to these people, this god wasn’t in the best state of inner health. Had she been in the sun too long? Did she just need to eat more? Did she eat something she wasn’t supposed to? Maybe something bit her.

When she came out, he noticed how dirty the water had been and took a good number of steps back to remain dry. This was made pointless when the female shook off, causing the god to shriek and shield himself with his wings as he was sprinkled with dirty water. Shaking it off, he looked over at his pelt to see where all the dirty water had landed. Ew!

I came from over there. I have just been passing by, resting while traveling, when I saw you. It’s …nice to meet you, Roko-pelli.” Well, nice that he meet a goddess, but not to one that was clearly a bit off in her thinking.

When the goddess asked about his hair, he looked at her. She was smiling, but her body was dripping wet and her paws were collecting dirty. “I…I’d rather you didn’t. I like to keep my hair clean and you’re all muddy. I don’t want muddy hair. I’m sure you would...understand?” His eyes trailed on the goddesses dripping hair. “Nevermind. Why were you in the water and what are you doing here?

He was small. Small, cute and, eeee cute! She wanted to pick him up and give him big squishy hugs! It was odd, really, realising how much she had grown and how long it had been since she'd seen a cub. Only adults or adolescents in the lands she had travelled.

Poor Khuluma! If he had expected intelligent conversation or - in fact - any conversation that made any sense - then he certainly wasn't going to find it here. Rokopelli confused herself half the time so it was quite likely she confused those around her, too. Except for Silos, of course, he seemed to understand her better than she understood herself.

Her paw hung mid-air, desperate - it seemed - to pet his lovely golden locks! They looks so shiny and soft! She hadn't even considered the fact that he might say no. So, when he did, a look of shock and then sadness fell over her face. He really didn't want her too? She lowered her eyes to the wet and muddy paw and understanding slowly seeped through. Nevertheless, she was sad. She hadn't seen another god for so long and when she finally did, she couldn't pet him or hug him or anything! What a waste of a meeting!

Even still, she extended her paw again, almost as if deciding to go ahead and do it anyway.

"No, Pelli. No!"

The Goddess jerked at the sound of her own voice and set her paw down, her face painted with a childlike pout. "Fine! No touch." She shook her head and sat, seeming ready to sulk. And then she realised she'd been asked another question. Two questions, in fact.

"We wanted to cool down in the water. Water fun and cool! We been travelling for a while so thought it would be a good idea." She grinned. "Do you like swimming, Khuluma? We do very much! Our friend taughtses us how to swim real good!" She beat her tail against the ground.

"And we are here on a journey to find the great God of Healing!" She exclaimed, her whiskers puckering proudly.

While he was glad his hair would not get dirty, he also felt regretful that Rokopelli was disappointed that she could not touch his hair. He couldn’t blame her. It was lovely, and he often indulged in preening his hair, playing with it with a great deal of affection, and making sure it looked its best. For that reason, he could not allow Roko or Pelli or whoever they were together or separate, to ruin it with muddy paws. If she cleaned herself up, he would be all for the affection. He loved it, and liked to be cuddled.

As much as she seemed to have been angry at him, sitting down with a heaviness to her stance that suggested she would not budge unless her mood improved, she did just as quickly recover to being happy once more. He was glad, especially since he had almost cringed back at a muddy paw that had been close to touching him and did not know if she would try once more.

I don’t think I know how to swim. I don’t remember learning. ” He said, watching small droplets of water drop from her hair. It looked…….messy. True, it was hot out, but he didn’t think he was up for getting himself wet. His eyes roamed over to the waterhole next to them and he frowned. Dirty water. Messy water. He didn’t think it would be fun in there.

Looking back, he perked at the mention of another god. When he heard ‘we’, he naturally assumed she was talking about herself again. Rokopelli certainly was an odd goddess, and he wondered how sane she was. In fact, he wondered what goddess she was of anyway. “God of Healing?” He repeated, thinking of how amazing such a god would be. “Have you meet the God before and know where he lives? I’m actually looking for Gods as well. Did…someone get hurt? Are you sick, Roko? Pelli?” He looked her over but could not see any sign of disease or wounds.

"You need a friend to teachses you, too!" She chirped. "We can do it. We can swimses almost as well as Juukie can!" She exclaimed happily, waving a paw as if it were as simple as going for a nap. "Then, when you are hot and bothered and annoyed you just, splaaash! Into the waterses and wheee! See?" She blinked and grinned him, her eyes glittered.

And then they seemed to be getting into the details of her quest. A bit of a sad story, really, but Rokopelli was certain she wasn't going to bring the conversation down with her sob story about how she'd accidentally hurt a mortal. Yes, skim over that part nice and quick, that'd work! She cleared her throat and opened her mouth to reply. However, she seemed at a little loss for words and her eyes flickered - perhaps nervously? Then she threw him another smile and started again. "No, no, we're not sick. A friend is. Not badly though. Just a little bit sick but we don't know how to fixses him so that's why we're searching for the God of Healing. Seee? And, um, no, we don't know him or where he liveses...we're sort of just guessing that he...well...exists." Cue the embarrassed laugh. "Um, but, we do know other gods, though! Lots and lots!"

Okay, well not lots, but enough that she might be of some use, right?

"First there's Juukie, we told you about him before, right? He likes the sea and he taught us how to swim. Now we swim real good! We haven't seen him for a while, though. Maybe go back there and see him soon, because we miss him very much." She sighed, thinking of the land by the sea and how calming the waves had been.

"Oh, oh, and then there's Mummy Koya. She's silver and pretty and we love her lots and lots! She takes good care of us and makes sure we're not sad or picked on or anything. You'd like her and she'd like you!" She purred, flicking her tail. "But Mummy Koya wanders, not easy to find. Maybe you'll meet her someday, though."

She paused, thinking of others. "Oh and there's Pele, she's Juukie's friend. We don't know much about her, but she has pretty hair, too!"

"Oh, oh and there's Bahari, too. He has a curly mane and it's so pretty and last time we met he let us hug and cuddle in his mane and it was the best thing ever!"

"Eee, and then there's Silos, he's our other bestest friend in the whole wide world. He's mostly here, sometimes not. He's a lot of fun. You'd like him. We have adventures and stuff and his powers are sooo neat!"

A long pause, she drew breath.

"Shall we tell him about that dark one?"

"No! He's bad!"

"Oh, okay...!"

"That's all we know! Oh, and you, of course, but you're nice and pretty and one day I'm going to hug you!" She blinked.

Once again, he was reminded that he needed a teacher. Though he felt he was a independent learner, maybe there was something to this idea of having a older God teaching him a thing or two about the world. He would love to continue practicing his domain, but he still had much to learn about how to be a proper god, simple lessons like swimming, and also just to find out more about what there was to be with someone else who might bestow something to him that he didn’t know he needed right now. Older often times meant experience, but he had yet to find a god that matched him. They all had many domains, but nothing that worked well with Rhetoric. Some gods didn’t even like being around him, while others had domains that made having someone else like him around impossible. He didn’t want to be a burden. For now, he felt he could continue learning on his own and if he found someone that worked well for him, he would, maybe just maybe, ask.

At the mention of swimming, he looked back to the water. He guessed learning to swim might be useful, but ..here? Now?

Luckily, Roko (or was it Pelli?), told her why she was looking for the God of Healing, and also all the other gods who she had met. There were many, and he memorized the names. Juuku, Koya (he remembered her), Pele – who knew Juuku (was she beside the water too?), Bahari, Silos, and lastly…a dark one. The title intrigued him. Why not mention that one? Was there a danger he needed to know.

I hope you find the God of Healing. Is your friend a goddess too? I’d like to meet more. ” He could only imagine what type of goddess would hang around Rokopelli, but more goddesses was more goddesses. Roko was very beautiful after all, and he liked to meet more like her.

I meet Koya in the God Haven. She was very nice to me, but very busy. I did not know she was your mommy. You two look nothing alike. What domain are you? Present? Future? Uh…that’s how it works, right? I don’t really know how families work.He gave a little look to his paws before looking back up at her, more and more interested by the goddess.

You sure met a lot of gods. I’m going to try and find them too. I hope I do, but…who’s the dark one? If they are dangerous, I should know. That way I can be careful and watch out. Not knowing is bad. If you don’t know, you could get hurt. If you know, you can be prepared.” The godling nodded, hoping his way of reasoning would convince her that he was right, as he often felt he was.

No one was ever a burden to Rokopelli and unless someone physically attacked her or said something really, really mean, she would accept them as a friend. Friends were special things and she cherished every one of hers. And though she wasn't the biggest, meanest or toughest of Goddesses she certainly could pack a punch is she was angered enough.

You wouldn't think it to look at her, but she had killed in the past, tragic accidents, yes, and she didn't like to think of it. But she could not deny it. Her powers had been used for bad things.

"Our friend? Oh, you mean Cass. No, he's not a God, he's a mortal, so his is mate, Illena. Both mortals. Cassie is grumpy but he's okay and Illena's nice. We like her very much!" She smiled. Officially the two mortals weren't mates. They hadn't expressed their feelings yet, but Rokopelli knew how Cassian felt for Illena because she had heard it in his thoughts. It would only be a matter of time before they admitted their feelings. Then maybe there'd be cubs and she could help them! She wriggled with excitement at the thought of it.

As he announced that he had met Koya she practically 'squee-ed', bouncing up onto her paws and fluttering her wings excitedly. "You really met Mummy Koya?" She exclaimed. It was clear she adored the female. She paused, however, when Khuluma spoke of them no looking alike and hesitated when he asked for her domain. "Oh, um, well..." She settled, looked sheepish. "Well, Koya not real Mummy. We adopted her as Mummy because our real Mummy was...well..."

"Where is she, Roko?"

"Who?"

"Mummy!"

"Mummy Koya?"

"No! Weren't you listening? Real Mummy!"

"Oh, real Mummy. She's not here. She's a bad lady. She hurtses us so we don't want to see her again. Not ever, ever, ever." Rokopelli looked grim and nodded, casting her eyes across to the little God.

"Koya is Mummy now, that's all that matters." She shook her head from side to side. "And out domain is not present. Not future." She paused, looked briefly troubled. "It's...it's....oh - how could we forgetses!? It's confusion." She smiled at him. Things would probably make a lot more sense to Khuluma now that he knew exactly what he was dealing with. "How about your domain? God of Cuteness? God of Shiny Hair?" She would continued guessing all day. Guessing the Domain was a favourite game of hers.

But, she had something else to address.

The dark one.

She shuddered and drew back a little, her emotions so easily swapping from one to another. "Dark one very dangerous. We...we don't know his name. He never said. He was mean. Very mean. He hitses us, made us angry." She bristled at the memory, but it had happened long ago and it was somewhat confused in her mind. "Big God. Black fur. Big wings. Bigger than ours, even. Oh, oh and big teethses! Huuuuge teethses! He was so scary and he..." She shook her head, she didn't need to go into the detail of her personality swap during that time.

"Met him in God Haven. Haven't been back since. You best stay away, too. We wouldn't want him hurting you." She whimpered.
PostPosted: Tue Jul 28, 2009 3:17 pm

Khuluma giggled, finding that Rokopelli, while very odd, was also very exciting to be around. While he didn’t like her being a messy person or the fact that her speech made him want to correct her, he did like her energy and the way she was easy to approach. For all the little sense she made at times, she was helping him by giving him names and also telling him who he should avoid. He just wished she was more specific on where all the gods where and what the dark god’s name was. Still, coming from this goddess, he guessed this was the best he could gather. He just was sure to not take everything as the best source of information. This was the goddess of confusion after all.

You adopted her?” He said, smiling at the thought. “She is a very nice goddess. I didn’t know you could adopt a parent. Isn’t it the other way around?” Then again, he had to keep remembering, this was confusion. Everything she probably did was backwards in reasoning. What an interesting way to live. He however liked when things made sense. Confusion was the last thing he wanted.

Well, if anyone could keep her on track, he could. Part of speaking well was to get rid of confusion. This would be a challenge for him.

God of Cuteness? No. I’m the God of Rhetoric. It means I speak very well.” He wanted to try and keep his explanations simple for Rokopelli. She didn’t seem the type that could take a long description. The God of Cuteness was an appealing idea, and he smiled, puffing up at the idea. He was cute, wasn’t he? Many gods told him so, and he was starting to like it very much. It made him think of other words for cute. Appealing. Adorable. Sweet.

As for the dark one, he thought of all the gods he met in the God Haven. The only black one had been Raiden, and he was big to him, but not as big as Rokopelli. He also did not have big teeth, but she could have been confused due to fear. He hoped Raiden wasn’t that mean.

I don’t think I’ll be going back to God Haven. It’s lonely there, and no one ever comes. The only black god I saw was the god of Thunder by the name of Raiden. Is there anything else that you could tell me about this god? A name? Was he all black?” He wondered if he should push the topic, since she seemed shaken by the memory, but he wanted to know to be prepared in the future.

Wanting to convince her to continue, he smiled up at her. Sacrifices would have to be made, and with confusion, he doubted normal tactics of logic would work on her. “I know you don’t like talking about it. It must have been scary, but if you tell me, I’ll let you touch my hair? I know you care about me, and I thank you for warning me, but I need to know more. The more I know, the better prepared I am. How about it? Tell me about the dark god just a bit more, and you can get your hug.” He hoped she had dried a little. Wet fur always got to him.

She nodded. The way she lived might not make much sense to others, but it did to her and really that's all that mattered. If she realised that people thought her so odd it was uncertain how she would feel about it. Flattered, perhaps? Who knew! "Mummy Koya is the bestest Mummy a godling could ask for! We were only little when we met her and she made us feel safe when we were scaredses. Everyone needs a mummy." She nodded matter-of-factly. "Other way round? Does it matter?" She blinked, thinking on it a moment, and then shaking her head as if dismissing the thought. Khuluma, one day, might realise that she was in a habit of adopting others as family members, perhaps because she had had none growing up before her sealing.

She laughed as he told her what his domain was. Not because it was particularly funny but because she had no idea what it meant! It was lucky, then, that he followed up with a simple explanation.

"Talk well?" She echoed. "Like...polite?" She would have preferred it, perhaps, if he had been the God of Cuteness, because, after all, he was very cute and shiny!! She bounced a little, as if eager to ask him more about his domain, but quieted herself as he pushed the subject of that dark one.

Her ears drooped and she let her mis-matched gaze flicker from side to side. Did she remember anymore? Was the name confused? Had she gotten confused? "God of Thunder..." She trailed. Could it have been him? No, she was sure the name would have sent a glint of recognition through her.

"Roko, you remember?"

"Nah uh. Too scary. Don't want to remember!"

"But what about the pretty haaaaair?"

"No."

The Goddess made an annoyed face, then fell silent a moment. Then, after a bit of thinking, "began with K. Kaaa-kaaa...." A long pause. "Ka something, yes?"

"No. I don't know. Let's not talk about this."

"Katarak!!" Pelli answered triumphantly. "Big. Black. Mean. Scary. Big teeths! Katarak!" She looked extremely proud, puffing up her chest at remembering the God's name. A shame then, that she had remembered incorrectly.

Then, in one voice, she asked. "Can we touch your pretty hair nowses?"

(( Just in case you want to know for future plot purposes, she's talking about Dragonrages' god of pride, Katana'k ))

Khuluma wondered if he would even get a name. Whatever happened between this monster and Rokopelli, it wasn’t good. He suddenly felt guilty for pushing the topic, but for his benefit, he had to know of who to wary of. He could avoid this monster, who had made this goddess, who was much larger than he was, afraid, but he was curious. What god was this? A god of fear? A god of monsters? A beast that devoured other gods for his own gain? Rokopelli seemed unscarred, but who knew what that lovely hair and shimmering bangles were hiding. There was also a deep memory of her she wanted to avoid. The dark god had left a permanent impression. This wasn’t Rokopelli being confused. It was Rokopelli being afraid.

It felt as if a cold wind passed when she was pushing for the name, and he shivered when she shouted it. While Katarak didn’t seem like a intimidating name, the trouble the goddess had and the resistance to even utter it made it heavy. This was a name to fear and be wary of. This was the god he would be looking out for.

Not wanting to say any more, he looked at her as she looked at his hair. She felt young, like him. Almost as if she was a sister. “Yes. I said you could if you told me, and you told me. You can touch my hair. ” Standing up, he went before her and sat so she could play with his hair. He would clean whatever mess she created after. It was a sacrifice for such a important piece of information.

Knowing that Rokopelli was probably not willing to talk about Katarak any more, he decided to perk the goddess up again. He didn’t like displeasing his audience when he wanted to keep it, and making her smile was something he liked to see. “You have very lovely hair, Rokopelli. Did you braid your hair yourself? It’s very nice. Can I touch your hair too?

What he wouldn't know, however, was that Rokopelli had also aggravated the God. Confused and in a state of panic, she had thrown herself at the male God and he had retaliated. He, a grown adult and she a juvenile. It wasn't a good match up, that was certain. But it had done one thing that day. Her fear and panic had made Pelli stronger and now it was Pelli who was the dominant of the personalities, driving their words and their motives when Roko did not fight them.

She shuddered as she thought back to that moment of confusion and fear and panic and then smiled, too, to think that it had all worked out okay.

As Khuluma came forward, the smile grew wider and it reached her eyes. "Yay!" She reached out and petted it. Yes, it was as pretty as soft as she had imagined. Okay, hug time, now, too! She gave a contented chirp and reached forward to hug the little God.

"We have lovely hair, too?" She chirped. "Braid? Oh, yes, we do that when we are bored. Braiding keeps it...in control, else it gets...everywhere! We crash when flying if it getses in our face." She giggled, rubbing her face against him. "Yup, yup, if you like~!" She sang.

Right now, all those bad memories drained away.

She'd decided. She was going to adopt Khuluma, too.

The small god flattened his ears as he was petted, expecting to dislike anyone touching his hair at all. He liked it clean, maintained, organized, and having others touch it meant it could be ruined. Yet, as she touched it, the large paw was heavy and he turned his head to the touch as he was petted. Hmm. Not bad, but he’d still make a fuss. His hair was his hair after all. No one looked pretty when their hair was muddy, and he liked being appealing to others. Having eyes on him when he talked and when he didn’t was something he lived for.

As for braids, he wondered if he could be taught. His hair got in his face when he flew, and he didn’t want to get it cut. Never!

Just as the petting stopped, he was lifted up from his spot and pressed into a deep hug, pushed into Rokopelli’s chest as she wrapped her paws around him. Paws out, he held on and his paws lifted up as he found he was taken off the ground, his wings pressed to his sides. “Roko!” He called out, surprised as he looked with wide, blue eyes at the ground, his heart racing. This was, after all, one of his first hugs. It wasn’t as soft as a nuzzle from Koya, or just laying near someone like Buni, but was an intense squeeze of affection. He guessed she couldn’t keep her hands to herself, and he was partly to blame for giving her a window.

As he tensed, he also felt a bubble start to form in his stomach, before rising up into his throat and out into a little snicker. “You’re going to -snicker- mess up my -snicker- hair! ” He didn’t know why he was laughing, but as he wiggled, he kept feeling giddy. Rokopelli was insane, and while he tried to force his smile into a serious pout at getting all wet and messy, he also felt the hug press into him to start making him laugh. What was wrong with him?!

Rokopelli, whilst generally not worried about her appearance, did generally look at least half groomed - well, when she wasn't taking dips in muddy water. However, to her, grooming wasn't something that was important or to be prioritised over something like...fun, for instance. She would not understand why the little one wanted to keep himself so neat and tidy when it involved so much work! She'd much rather skip a bath and go scuffling in the dust instead.

And as she hugged him close she felt something akin to incredible joy, something that awakened perhaps a motherly spirit inside of her despite the fact she was still so much a child in mind and heart. She squeezed tighter and maybe would have continued to do so if he hadn't squeaked her name.

"Whoops!" She startled and instantly loosened her hold. "Sorry, Khuluma! We wouldn't want to mess up your pretty hair or squish your breaths all away!" She set him down, very gently, and stepped back, grinning at him.

Was she insane? Well....yes, probably.

Her grin widened at his laugh and she bounced forwards into a play bow, waving her tail high and flicking her wings playfully. "Seeeeee, hugs make the world happy!" She shook the last few drips of water from her fur and blinked her mis-matched eyes. "Hug a day makes the bad go away!"
