Terrestrial:

by Jibiki
Name: Nagasara/S'gaan (legend)
Preferred Environment: Prefers mountains, due to the high moisture content and high concentration of its favorite food, snakevine (and thus, snakevine fruit).
Diet: Mainly herbivorous, but recent findings have found them to be omnivorous. They eat the fruits from snakevine for primary nutrition, but if no fruit is present it will eat a stray insect or two on or around the vines.
Physical Description: Similar to an earth snake in form and structure. Black, leathery skin, nearly a foot in width at its widest point; the longest recorded is nearly 33 feet in length (though legend speaks of a Nagasara that is long enough to wrap around an entire mountain, and is nearly 6 feet thick at its widest point). Looks very similar to snakevine, with one exception: it has very small white diamond patterns on its back and a pale white belly. The snake's venom is classified as a hallucinogenic, so being bitten or injected with too much venom can be fatal. Early teams were fascinated by the snake's head: unlike earth snakes that carry venom, the Nagasara's head is shaped like that of non-venomous snakes. IE, no venom sacs on the sides of its head. Possible causes have been theorized that the saliva of the snake is the venom in question, but we have been unable to capture one for research.
Behavior: High-level intelligence. Capable of simple emotions, such as pity, greed, sympathy, and rage. Very solitary creatures, mainly preferring to stay near or on its own "personal" snakevine. It will loosely defend its vine, attacking the others it views as 'threats'. It has been observed to tolerate weak, young, and sick Nagasara eating a few of its fruit in more plentiful vines, but any Nagasara equal to or greater in size is vehemently turned away. Early research subjects almost attacked scouting parties, but when the parties disregarded the fruits, the snakes disregarded us as well. It is unknown whether they are sentient or not, as they seem to have a form of unspoken communication between each other. At first researchers believed they communicated via body language, but that was dismissed when a pair was observed meeting, holding stock still, and then appearing to have understood one another.
Other Notables: Legend holds that the largest of the Nagasara guards a mountain completely covered in snakevine, and if anyone were to taste the fruit of the vine it would be the most pleasuring experience one has ever gone through. The S'gaan, or largest Nagasara, supposedly has intelligence that goes beyond that of humans or malakites, and will test anyone who comes to its mountain to see if they are worthy of eating the fruit. The legend continues that in reality, the second you step foot on the mountain you are bitten by the S'gaan's left fang, thus entering a dream-like state from the venom. This allows the S'gaan to truly test your soul- if it deems you worthy, it will then drip venom from its right fang over the wound from the left, and cure you before you die from the venom. You're still left with vestiges of the venom as you are allowed to eat the fruit the S'gaan so dutifully guards.

by Jellybeans Toes
Name: Larry
Preferred Environment: On a plant
Diet: Decomposer
Physical Description:
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Behavior: Larry are peaceful, probably due to their lack of limbs.
Other Notables: blaugh

by Jellybeans Toes
Name: Fluffy
Preferred Environment: Anywhere
Diet: Anything it doesn't have to fight
Physical Description: It looks a bit like a goat. It has three eyes, a central horn, a pair of small, two pointed tentacle things, and a tufted tail. It is covered in wrinkly skin, with "peach fuzz." It has a soft mane. It is really very ugly.
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Behavior: Fluffies are very unintelligent. They are herd animals.
Other Notables: An common domesticated animal.

by Jellybeans Toes
Name: Landshark
Preferred Environment: Land!!!!
Diet: Carnivore!!!!
Physical Description:
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Behavior: It's angry!!!!
Other Notables: It'll eatcha!!!!

by MargeXX
Name: Jiiwabi
Preferred Environment: Mountains, forests, pretty much everywhere but the ocean.
Diet: Carnivore. These things will eat anything and everything that they can catch from rats, to humans, all the way to any Malakim that can't fight them off.
Physical Description:
User Image
They're about 3' tall and 6' long with really big teeth.
Behavior: These things are stupid, agressive, and never full. They travel in groups of three to five, although they are not an orginazed like a wolf pack would be. They're more like vultures that just team up because larger numbers make stronger groups.
Other Notables: I think I covered it. 8D

by Tuatha De
Name: Trug
Preferred Environment: Grasslands
Diet: Carnivore
Physical Description: About seven feet tall at the shoulder, heavily muscled, it takes a long time to get up to speed, but you'd better run once it gets there. Each of its four feet has two huge, blunt claws on it, and the whole animal is covered in shaggy brown fur. Its head is short, blunt, and seems to be made up of 50 percent teeth. It also has large, ram-like horns, which both males and females use for dominance and territory struggles.
Behavior: Extreme loners, Trugs will not allow any other Trugs into their territory, and will fight to the death. How they mate is something of a mystery. Then again, these are aliens, maybe they spawn via airborne pollen or something. Trugs are also not tremendously intelligent, and usually rely on their tremendous strength and stamina to take down prey.
Other Notables: Trugs can't bite something that's on their back, and aren't smart enough to figure out how to get it off. Therefore, theoretically, you could ride one... the trouble would be getting on and off.

Aquatic:

by Jellybeans Toes
Name: Nessie Lapras Magical Leopluradon Sir Spork of Shinyton That Thing
Preferred Environment: Marine
Diet: Carnivore
Physical Description: http://i27.tinypic.com/2h6ha1k.jpg
Behavior: It's about as smart as a border collie
Other Notables: IT'S A LEOPLURADON, CHARLIE! A MAGICAL LEOPLURADON!

by Jellybeans Toes
Name: Lluly (plural: Llulyn)
Preferred Environment: Marine
Diet: Omnivore, primarily eats kelp-like things
Physical Description: Llulyn are about horse-sized with large, heavy heads. They have soft, rubbery beaks with harder, sharp tips for tearing at meat if they are starving (the only time they expand their diet). Inside the beak are broad teeth made for grinding. Male llulyn have broad horns protruding from the backs of their heads. Llulyn are sparsely furred- coarse hairs protrude from their necks and the base of their beaks. [You get to decide what their lower half looks like. =D]
Behavior: Llulyn travel in pods of 2-30 mated pairs and their recent offspring, according to food supply. When they get to be two or three years of age, llulyn separate from their pods and go in search of a mate. Most mate for life. Llulyn have whale-like intelligence.
Other Notables: ILY guys!

by Tuatha De
Name: Geoduck
Preferred Environment: Marine
Diet: Filter feeder (plankton, etc.)
Physical description:
Geoduck.
A very large clam with a curiously phallic appendage.
Behavior: It sucks in plankton. It eats plankton. Occasionally, it spawns. Repeat for the course of its entire life... which, incidentally, is about 146 years.
Other Notables: This is the same species as the geoduck from Earth. I don't mean physically similar, I mean the SAME SPECIES. Down to the DNA. No one knows how this is possible.
Malakim consider them a delicacy and an awesome party food.

by Tuatha De
Name: Old Ones
Preferred Environment: Any body of water large enough for them to swim in. Usually ocean.
Diet: Does it fit in its mouth? If it doesn't immediately fit in its mouth, can it be ripped into smaller pieces until it does?
Physical Description: Like this, except covered in scales. Mandibles tend to be 6 to 8 feet long each, for a total span of up to 16 feet.
Behavior: Almost completely unintelligent. Divides the world into two categories: food and furniture. During a brief period in the fall, a third category is added (potential mate). After that brief period, the considerably larger females will viciously attack any male stupid enough to still be in their territory. They have few to no natural predators, so their population is held in check primarily by larger Old Ones eating the majority of the young ones spawned each year.
Other Notables: According to Jyrius, at least, the only "fish" on Sartnys (gills + scales + fins + vertebrae). He is not a marine biologist. He is probably wrong.

by Tuatha De
Name: Crimel
Preferred Environment: Freshwater. Actually, they'll grow just about everywhere, and in alarming numbers -- if the water current isn't so strong that they'll wash away, they'll be there. They'll clog up your water pipes, if you let 'em.
Diet: Scavengers/decomposers
Physical Description: They look like tiny bundles of multicolored stringy noodles, with a nearly-invisible mouth in the very middle. Most are about the size of the palm of your hand. Big ones can get as long as your arm, but those are usually found at the bottoms of lakes and things.
Behavior: They have sucker-cups on their back, which they use to attach themselves to a hard surface. Then they use their appendages to grab anything that floats by them and attempt to eat it. If no food floats by for several days, they detach and float along somewhere else. If threatened by a predator, they can also let out an ungodly, bloodcurdling shriek.
Other Notables: They are delicious. Malakim like to stir-fry them up with some veggies, and they could easily be mistaken for multicolored spaghetti. Probably best not to ask what your noodles are made of.

by Tuatha De
Name: Elohit
Preferred Environment: Two subspecies exist: the freshwater variety will live in zhal-abundant rivers and floodplains (see Sartnys plants for more information on the zhal) while the saltwater variety prefers reefs, estuaries, and other shallow water.
Diet: Primarily herbivore. Both species eat all kinds of aquatic vegetation; the saltwater variety will occasionally eat smaller creatures, while the freshwater spends most of the year eating primarily zhal fruit.
Physical Description: Elohits are about the size of your hand, and come in a variety of brilliant colors. They are covered with water-resistant peachfuzz fur, which helps insulate them as well as deterring some predators. (Nothing like surprise fur in your mouth to make you think twice about biting something.) They have four small, paddle-shaped fins and a fanlike tail, which they use for propulsion, and two tentacle-arms, which they use for grabbing food. A sharp beak helps cut through underwater grasses and tough vegetable fibers.
Behavior: Not very smart. They tend to hide rather than try to fight predators, and if really pressed they will gather up into a large group to look more intimidating. This rarely works.
Other Notables: A distant evolutionary relative of the Malakim, in the same way that humans are in the same general evolutionary branch as pygmy marmosets. Don't tell the Malakim this, it's considered extremely insulting.

by LOLGAIA
Name: HEADCLAM
Preferred Environment: ON PEOPLE'S HEADS. They also like living in aquariums, both saltwater and fresh. No one has ever seen a wild headclam without a host.
Diet: No one's really sure.
Physical Description: It's a large clam, just the right size to fit on someone's head.
Behavior: Headclams are highly intelligent. They will latch onto the head of an appropriate sentient being, then essentially hijack their central nervous system and use them as meatpuppets. However, headclams are not very good at this, and it usually leads to hypnotic flailing, bizarre speech patterns, and uncontrollable tendency to become a goody-two-shoes.
Other Notables:
-Headclam infestation is not dangerous; however, harmful side effects may include chronic nudist tendencies and sudden acute cases of glowing crotch. There are several theories as to what causes the glowing crotch, but no one is really sure.

Flying/Arboreal:

by MargeXX
Name: Logel
Preferred Environment: Mountains
Diet: Strictly herbivore, they don't even eat insects.
Physical Description:
User Image
They're about 2' tall from the ground to their head feathers. They have four large wings and even the chicks are easily capable of flight. Their horns are made similar to a deer's antler and their beaks are surprisingly like the ones of the birds on Earth.
Behavior: These are social creatures who love to sing and play games amongst each other. They are far from being as intelligent as humans, but are decently smart compared to other lesser creatures. Most people love to listen to their beautiful songs, though the songs turn ugly when these creatures are frightened or upset and can physically hurt the ear.
Other Notables: The reference pic for this and my other animal entry were both made in Spore.

by Kittyintheraiyn
Name: Sniden (I'm not sure how creative that name is ;; )
Preferred Environment: Forest, in or on the trees, like squirrels.
Diet: Mostly insects, and fruits but will pretty much eat anything it can catch or find, within reason.
Physical Description:
Sketch?
(don't lol ;; i can't draw, especially with a mouse ) Snidens look a cross between a snake a spider and a small cat, growing no larger than 10 inches from nose to tail tip, most are about 8 inches long. They have 2 black and shiny main eyes with six smaller ones surrounding the main eyes, small mouths with non venomous fangs, long curled tongues and a soft scaled skin with stripey marking. Snidens have six limbs, with dexterous gripping hands and feet and short claws at the end of their fingers and toes.
Behavior: Highly intelligent and moderately trainable, they live in small family groups, and have possessive personalities, though they are only very aggressive to other of their kind and other animals that are their size, are more likely to flee from larger creatures. They are hyper and quick moving critters active mostly at night and during the cool calm hours.
Other Notables: It's sooo cute, can I keep it?

by Kittyintheraiyn
Name: Tree-ticks (I'm still not sure how creative that name is ;; )
Preferred Environment: Forest, on the trees, like giant aphids
Diet: Tree sap
Physical Description:
Sketch?
(don't lol ;; i still can't draw, especially with or without a mouse ) Tree ticks are roughly tear drop shaped, short and fat and their bodies are very soft, such as a caterpillar, they have six tiny feet and are found adhered to the bark or outer skin of some tree types, they live out their lives on a single branch and don't move much, or at all once they've attached themselves via the pointy sucky mouth-parts on their thinner end. They grow to about the size of a thumb tip.
Behavior: Like Earth bugs, they reproduce like mad and aren't easy to get rid of, unless you have something that eats them handy. They're not at all intelligent, having no other function than feeding, reproducing, and causing various levels of squick, when ever they are found.
Other Notables: *flees from the nasty giant tick*

by starbolt22
Name: Hummerfly
Preferred Environment: The forest
Diet: Carnivore, usually scavenger
Physical Description: Few quick doodles. In other words, two pairs of wings, one insect the other leathery, has teeth and a long tail but much like a bird.
Behavior: It can be a bit friendly if you train it. Best to steal an egg, however, as the adults would attack you on sight. In the wild it is nocturnal, however as a pet it would most likely have a slightly more daylight awake schedule, but still remain awake at night. It is not intelligent enough to understand what it says.
Other Notables: It talks.

by Tuatha De
Name: Irean
Preferred Environment: Temperate forests, preferably old ones. The larger the tree, the better the Ireans like it.
Diet: Omnivorous -- they'll eat a truly impressive variety of insects, small amphibians, fruit, leaves... In fact, there's an old adage about them: if you're not sure if something's edible, give it to an Irean. If they eat it, no matter how unappetizing it looks, it's probably good.
Physical Description: About two feet tall, they look sort of like a cross between a margay and a lemur, but tailless. They have small, deft paws, and are expert climbers. Their fur is incredibly soft; it comes in shades of black, grey, gold, brown, red, and white. They are usually solid color or have simple markings such as dapples, stripes, or spots, but rarely individuals will have patterns that almost seem like designs. Ireans also have extremely sharp teeth. Handle with care.
Behavior: Ireans are quite intelligent, but not as social as Earth primates. They will form small groups for mutual protection and benefit, but these groups will very rarely exceed ten individuals. When kits reach full maturity, they are generally chased out of the parents' territory to form their own group.
Other Notables:
-Multiple attempts to domesticate Ireans have met with disastrous failure. They are very cute, which makes them popular, but they HATE being treated like pets. Under no circumstances should you attempt to pet, cuddle, or put a cute collar on one.
-There is a common folktale about a silver Irean with black designs on its pelt, which will supposedly ferociously attack any evildoers that trespass in its forest.
