Alice had been thinking quietly to herself for some time. Lately she had been browsing around for a new place to live and made herself quite comfortable in the local university. The college kids would feed her sushi and she wouldn’t have a care in the world. So there she sat, amid the reeds of the Koi fish pond playing her first love, the cello. The music protruded around her, haunting music, as though moaning penetrating the midnight air. Her eyes were closed as she plucked skillfully at the strings, allowing the loving melody that the stars whispered to her flow through her delicate hands and into the instrument before her. Her skilled ears throbbed with the sound of the night air, mixing and mingling with her own disturbances. The female was serious, a rare occurrence for one such as her, but true all the same. She was so lost in her own world that she did not catch that she had company.

It was the low, rumbling sounds of the cello that was drawing Weylyn towards the pond, though he hated this place. The kids treated him like dirt since he was so dirty and mangy looking, the collar just barely visible around his neck. Those icy blue eyes darted this way and that, making his way down the winding path, dodging a few kicks that were sent his way by a few kids who smelled like that plant his previous owner had inhaled.
It made his fur stand up on end; the smell. Gods above, he hated that scent so bad. It brought back so many bad memories. Now, Weylyn hadn't even thought of finding a place to live. There were a few houses where the humans would give him scraps, so he made his home in an alleyway near by. There was one good thing about this place, he supposed; the music. All sorts of music was played on this campus.
His owner had come to this campus once before. Weylyn went with him, followed his owner that one time he actually attended his classes. It was a good place, then. The students fed him all sorts of scraps, petted him, scritched his chin. It was enough to get any cat purring like a motor boat. Why should he be exempt?
He loved it. But he wondered what kids were doing on campus at midnight. Oh, right... some of them live on campus, I guess.... He thought to himself as he finally reached the pond and the cello. He blinked at the sight before him and grinned. A pretty kitty playing a pretty tune. He should have guessed. Sneaking a bit closer, he sat at the edge of the pond, watching her, waiting to see what she'd do when she realized he was here. Hopefully she wouldn't stop playing.
Sitting quietly wasn't Weylyn's favorite thing to do. So, he tried to hum along with the tune that was carried on the wind, tail flicking this way and that in time with it. No, he didn't know what she was playing, but it didn't stop him.

Alice finally opened one eye, after feeling that indescribable feeling of being watched. She met the eye of the other cat calmly, still serene from the music she was able to make. “Would you like me to continue, or have you come seeking me out?” The female asked quietly, her bell like voice sounding just as musical as her cello. She smiled and plucked a few more strings, brushing her hair from her face.
Oh what a sight she must have been! Her hair was a curly mess, from not being cared for in over a day. She sat in her robes and cared nothing for what she looked like, even if the giant moon was illuminating her in her opinion as a disadvantage. The Somali lifted a hand and waved him over, and began playing a more exiting tune, one that would better fit the park at twelve am rather than the star lit night it was found. She smiled inwardly, the uplifting sound of Jazz threatening to whisk her away and forget that she was now playing for two.

A woman after his own heart! Weylyn heard the jazz mixed in and stepped closer, watching the girl with a growing grin. Had he came to seek her out? No, he came here in hopes of scrounging in the garbage for some kind of food. He neared her again, sniffing at her legs, trying to see if he could pick up what kind of feline she might have been. But nope. That didn't work.
"Continue if you want?" He said sheepishly, his voice low and rumbling, the complete opposite of her tinkling one. Her voice made his ears perk up and his tail stiffen, as if it could entrance him. Backing away from her, he sat down again, bringing his tail in front of his paws and gave a smile, trying to seem like he wasn't starving. No doubt, however, she heard his stomach rumble like mad. "Sorry... I'm ....You play really good. Well, I mean. You play well. And... well..." He flicked an ear as he heard steps approach, another human passed by the two without sparing a glance.
Wonderful creatures, humans. "....I came for food. I was going to pillage the trashcans."

Alice smiled and shook her head, prying herself from her lover. “That simply won’t do, not with all these dull minded humans running around… watch this.” The female had spotted a human girl sitting on a bench nearby; she was feeding the fish and looking forlorn. Alice wandered to her, and brushed her legs lightly in her own dance. Purring quietly, and mewing ever so often.
The human girl gave the rest of her sushi now smiling, for the stray cat had brightened up her day. The Somali dragged the tray over to her new friend and sat back down by her cello. “You just have to pretend to enjoy their company, always single out the ones that seem to be pain filled; they are looking for an outlet for happiness. You don’t want the ones that smell bad either; it leaves a reached feeling on your fur.” She enjoyed the trade between human and cat, and now that she had been living there for awhile it was like they all knew the rule to allow her to come to them. Alice would never admit this out loud but she still found joy in pleasing humans and getting a smile from them, and if she was given food… well that was a huge bonus.

Weylyn watched this mistress of the cello, the goddess of the campus, the diva of humans, as she worked her magic on the female who looked troubled. Why hadn't he thought of that? He should have known to do that. After all, it's what he used to do to his human when he was still alive. Those blue eyes focused on the pretty little female and then gave her a quick lick to the cheek when she slid the tray over.
"Thank you, my beautiful goddess!" He said, over exaggerated, surly, but he didn't care. This is how he was with all females. It was clear he wasn't being serious, only horsing around. Still, he liked throwing affections out for the ladies. Sometimes they needed it.
He move d over to the tray and sniffed the sushi, taking a few bites out of it and then purred, tail flicking. "I've never had this before! What's it called?"

Alice chuckled and brought her hand to her hair self consciously. She had been so stressed out that she had merely come to play her cello, not be seen by another cat, let alone a male one. “A goddess is a bit over exaggerated wouldn’t you agree? What you’re eating is called sushi I believe, raw fish and rice to be precise.” She straddled the instrument once more, letting it woo her into happiness. Slowly her mind slipped to Dhiren, the male that got away so to speak, he got away with her heart to boot. The music changed with her mood, becoming a mixture of a slower, low pitched music with a high-pitched undertone. The female lifted her eyes to the other cat, almost empty looking. She was far into thought, but at least she had remembered her manners and found herself trying at least to pay attention to what the other may be saying.

But he wasn't saying anything. He was watching the female, captivated by her. By the tune she was playing, by the way she played. It seemed so pained, so hurt. The tune told Weylyn a tale of love found and lost again, unsure of what was going to happen to her next.
He sat there, eating the sushi quietly, not wanting to disturb her, but he wanted to know more about her story. Why was she so sad, and why didn't she have the one she loved? An ear flickd and he sighed softly, biting down on his lip as he moved closer, putting a hand on her knee. Not really his hand, but a few fingers, looking up to her with true concern written in his blue yes and across his face. He mouthed instead of spoke: "What's wrong?" Truly, no one should play music that made anyone's heart wrench like this. He felt her pain, everything she was feeling, and it made him sad.

The Somali female was just able to make out the words formed by the younger cat before her, which in turn made her stop playing her tune. She smiled a sad smile, but a smile all the same. “I don’t know if I truly love him, but I know, for some odd reason there’s no way that someone like him would want someone like me. It was meant to be a night’s amusement… and yet it turned into something entirely different. Besides, he turned out to be worse of a flirt than I. He found a new amusement just a few days later.” Alice felt her eyes watering, but did nothing other than look upon the other cat, not necessarily to observe him, but rather as something to focus on as she brought her thoughts together. “Anyway, enough of these depressing things, eventually I will learn from failures and lost loves. You are the only one here worth playing for.” She thumped the older cello and smiled brightly “Any requests?”

He listened to her story and anger started to bubble up inside of him. Males could be such dogs. Weylyn flirted, yes, but he told anyone he flirted with that nothing was to come of it. With a frown set firmly on his lips, the Maine Coon nuzzled against her legs in a way of apology, as if he could make her feel any better after being treated like a whore. That was his opinion. No woman should ever be treated like this.
With a heavy sigh, and an angry heart, he attempted a smile. "How about some Jazz to get us out of this funk?" He asked, tail flicking a bit. Oh, how many females had been mistreated? Weylyn wished she'd give a name so he could go hunt that male down and hurt him.

Alice smiled, and begun playing her favorite jazz tune. She thought of the encounter simply because it would not leave her head, but she ignored the feelings that came with such a memory, which in turn would hurt her later. “Jazz was what got me to dance.” She said for half a conversation. Lately she had been dancing so much she had little time for the cello, but now it was all she wanted to do. With what the dance had done to her lately, she found no reason to start up again, for she held back far too much at that point. “His name is Dhiren, though I don’t believe that he really meant to hurt me, it’s just… he seems to think I hate him now, which is far from the truth... it’s almost like he is searching for a reason to believe what we had that night was merely an amusement. Well he will be damned if he believes I will tell him otherwise.” She mumbled almost as though it was a second hand thought. It was curious why the Somali was opening up to one she had just met, but she had found herself needing to talk of it since she saw him with belle. OH how the wonders will never cease.

The Maine Coon's feet started tapping and he stood up to his full height, which, for a cat, wasn't very tall. But he still found himself dancing to her pretty tune and humming with it. One he might have recognized or just Jazz was easy to get the feel for. Of course Weylyn listened to her, a small half-smile on his face. Thumping his tail against the side of the cello, he added some more rhythm to it before speaking again.
"He might not have meant to hurt you, suga. Do you know that he's not feeling the same as you do?" His voice, had a thick accent to it, but seemed out of place with his character. It was more flamboyant than he actually looked. Once he opened up though, this female would know why he sounded the way he did. "You should at least go talk to him. If nothing more than a friend and find out what exactly is going on inside that head 'a' his. Sometimes men can be more confusing than a female. Mos' just think that we have one thing on our minds at all times," he said, giving her a playful wink as if she were an old friend.
It was good, talking about things that had happened, especially for this female. She seemed like the type to hold grudges for a while, but at the same time, Weylyn felt a kinship with her. And they'd just met, to boot.

Alice stopped playing and looked at the chocolate brown male with distain. “TALK. Talk to him, yeah right, even if he would hear me out I see no point in it. I’m just fine as I am. And even if I had a friend to talk to him what would they say. ‘Are you in love with a girl you barely even know?’ that is simply nonsensical. There is no way a guy like him in his right mind would want me. I mean… he has a brain.” She shrugged and set down the cello, standing and walking around the Koi pond merely looking at the fish and pondering to herself. She didn’t even know she was pacing until she looked upon her own disarranged reflection and sighed.
“You’re crazy. There’s just no way in hell.” She told herself and spun around to face the other person with her.

He listened to her explanation and gave a small frown, looking to the side once more before moving over to her. He didn't care if she wanted to be alone. The Maine Coon slipped up behind her, hugging her around the waist and sighed softly. Sure, they didn't know each other, but head a knack for know when people needed a hug.
"Alright, so don't talk to the guy. .....Talk to someone about it, though. Venting.... Venting is very good." He gave her a little smile and drew back in case she wanted to kick his a**. Hopefully not. "I'm Weylyn, by the way..."

Alice felt the hands slip around her and stilled instantly. Taking a deep breath she relaxed and watched him step away. “You know most guys tend to get my name before they touch me. Besides I just talked to you didn’t I? I rambled, but still used my vocal cords. I talked.” She sat down with a small oomph, and glared at her reflection in the water. She was so moody tonight! Was it simply the subject or was it that she just was having a bad day? The female liked to think it was the latter. Sighing she dipped her feet into the pond and thought quietly to herself.
“I’m Alice.” She mumbled as a fish came up and nibbled at her toes. She giggled to the tickling sensation and looked up; it had brightened her features drastically. She was not mad at him really, just the situation she was in. Feelings faded, its not like she had a chance with “princess” running around anyway. Let him keep her heart for all she cared.
