So now that the eggs were (mostly) hatched and the candidates had fed their dragonets after what had been a stressful night of sleep for Alanna (though it had come with some therapeutic venting with Ferris that morning... she was still surprised she hadn't bungled that up) it seemed the 'big move' was happening -- even one of her own roommates had moved out! Not that it surprised her too badly.
They had to move out the Weyrlings so that they could make room for new candidates... how soon would they be filling up the now empty spaces? Too soon? Ohhh she just didn't know, sadly. But it was of little matter to Alanna, who had just made sure to keep herself out of the way and had found herself a place to watch while she messed with a length of one of the scraps of pair of pants she'd ripped several weeks before.
Not to say that she hadn't started saving up to replace her pants -- leather was expensive, but if she was smooth enough about it she'd just...have a lot of leatherwork to sell off.. like her current project which was now at a standstill because.. .... ......
Great, she needed to go back to her cot to get her knife. Traffic, ho!

Mine, this is dirty and smelly and crowded and I DO NOT LIKE IT. Lifting one taloned foot, Arioth glared at the dirt clinging to it with whirling red eyes, shooting glares at the Candidates that gave her a wide berth. Nobody wanted to get too close to the gold who'd been so ferocious at her birth, not when her eyes were that color. Shards, even if they'd been whirling a happy blue people would probably worry. Happy usually meant revenge had been exacted on some poor idiot, for Arioth. Why are we here? I want to go somewhere else.
"Arioth, I have to get my things. I had a life before the Hatching." Ignoring the loud snort that showed just what Arioth thought of THAT statement, Rinfala paced through the halls. She was grateful that her gold's red-eyed glare was clearing out the place as they went, otherwise getting to the room she shared with...some girls, she hadn't much paid attention to them past making sure they left Shim's egg/clutch alone...without much trouble. Speaking of...
SKREEEEEEE!

Annnd it seemed that she'd been roomed near the not-so-happy gold for some time without noticing. GREAT. Then again, the gold itself had been there for a whole.. day? Few candlemarks? Whatever, it had been there long enough to not really.. 'live' there.
Mmnnngh.. Whatever. She just needed to get her knife from her cot and - fjsaldfj;! Ohhh man. Alanna never would have called herself a coward, but the angry eyes of that little queen (literally little) were enough to cause her to get out of the way and frown a bit.
"Sure hard to just get from point A to point B." she commented out loud (because, as Koios had said, her thoughts were just TOO IMPORTANT to keep to herself. saj;fl.. The a**..) as she stepped around the retreating to -f
djflskajf... Okay, that noise!! ... .....
Oh, Firelizard..or something. It had definitely been something to cause Alanna to stop and stare after Rin and the ever-so-strange Flitt. So..that girl just attracted golds to her, didn't she? Not that Alanna was jealous -- it was simply an amusing thought.

Shim's call had not quite been one of anger, but distress was clear in her thoughts, in the yellow and orange that broadcasted her feelings for all to see. Hers had brought a bigflit back, like Aeron had told her she might! A big, angry bigflit, that might be a danger to her clutch! With a wail, she dove for Rinfala's chest, clinging tightly to the fabric of her shirt.
Mine. What IS that? Clearly, Arioth was not sure if she approved of this tiny gold thing clutching onto Hers. It was smaller than she was, which was good, but it was also emanating palpable distress that was causing her own eyes to turn orange. I don't like the noise it's making. Is it upset?
"Shhhh...easy Shim, easy. It's okay. Arioth won't hurt you or your babies. She's...like a sister for you. Arioth, this is Shim. She's like a tiny you, almost." A very big sister, but maybe the resemblance would be enough that Shim would stop her wailing. As her flit gave a timid glance towards Arioth and hesitantly sniffled her way into a soft, welcoming croon, Rinfala glanced towards the spectator they seemed to have garnered. "That kind of thing happens when it's crowded."
Arioth still looked dubious, but she tried to mimic the noise the 'tiny her' was making back at her. Encouraged, Shim crooned more loudly, until her small frame was vibrating with the sound.

"I noticed." Alanna answered, actually rather impressed by how well the girl had handled the situation -- as calmly as possible while presenting both of her companions with an answer suitable to them. It was actually rather fun to watch. However, the comment on it being 'crowded' was a.. decent motivator.
... ..... Besides, she could only imagine that the Flitt and the 'bigflitt' were going to be a handful in this case. "Need a hand?" she asked, a slightly awkward offer, but given that both of the Golds wanted Rinfala's attention, an extra hand may have been a good thing for the 'move' -- not to mention after that, she could just sit down and continue making new wares out of what she'd have to.. .. Positively label as 'material'. Who knew. Better to play friends with the girl who had the ANGGRRRYYYYY Queen.
Wow.. she was almost daunting up close now that she could get a better look at her -- without getting mauled.

The smile that Rinfala flashed Alanna was grateful as she pried Shim off as gently as she could. "That'd be great, actually. It's--ow--been--hey, let go--a long night." Watching Shim flutter back in to her warmed sandbox, she frowned. "Sorry about that. She's been wherrybrained over that clutch of hers, so she'll be getting over it soon."
Darting into Rinfala's alcove, Shim curled protectively around her eggs, burrowing into the sand. They were hard now, only days from hatching and safe to handle and move. Not that handling them was an easy task, with as prone as Shim was to call for Aeron for the slightest things. Her small bright eyes gleamed as she watched the two people and the 'bigflit' intently.
Barely sparing a glance for the firelizard that had admitted its inferiority and withdrawn, Arioth peered at the other girl. After a few moments of green-eyed study, she snorted and nudged at Rinfala's hand. You need to get your things, she commanded imperiously, conveniently ignoring that Hers had been the one to point this out only minutes before. Take the hand if you need it.

O-oh. Okay, that offer had indeed gone over well, seeing as most of the time, Alanna didn't exactly get that bright of a response for making an offer of sorts -- that definitely made her feel appreciated. Ego points, plus ten! Woooo!
Now, to not sit there and STARE WITH FEAR AT THE DRAGON. That would be a good thing, yes. Could Dragons smell fear? She'd have to ask hers when she impressed... if she'd remember that sort of thing in the possible year or so that'd take. Alas, she'd just have to wait and see.
Or something like that.
................................. Yeaaaaah.
Uhh.. she'd just, get on top of this whole 'helping' thing she'd just volunteered herself to do. YAAAYYY HELPING!!
"So.. what do you want me to carry and-or distract?"

Rinfala's mouth tightened into a thin line as she eyed her things, debating what she could reasonably carry. First priority would be moving Shim's clutch, and she could only hope that Aeron was occupied enough with other things that she wouldn't have an angry bronze attempting to divebomb her. Next on the list...about half a dozen changes of clothing, and other assorted belongings. Hopefully the bags she'd used to move in were still big enough...rummaging around, she held them up in triumph. "I can fill these up, and that should take care of most of it. I..." Eyeing Shim, she nodded. "I should probably see if she'll let me lug that sandbox to the barracks."
I will carry one, Arioth interrupted, the unexpected offer causing Rinfala to stare in disbelief. I am as strong as you are. I will carry one and be strong. Laying a sharp-clawed talon on one of the bags, the look she gave Hers clearly said that she wouldn't move unless she got what she wanted.
...Well, that'd just be too bad. Jaw setting, Rinfala shook her head. "Arioth, no. You're strong, but they don't make straps your size. Let us do it...c'mon, does Varth have everyone carry things for him?" Ego could be such a pain in the a**, but it had its uses.
And the speed with which Arioth backed away from the bags was...rather comical, really.

The interaction between the rider and the queen was actually something Alanna found quite fascinating, watching the queen back off as she was put back into her place (kind of) with a few words. Huuh. Well, she'd guess that was merely the Queen being put back into her place with the mention of.. .... .....
was 'Varth' the brown she'd been duking it out with in the bowl? Most likely, as it seemed to do the trick. So the queen was 'Arioth'. Also excellent.
Okay, so it was a matter of getting all clothing packed up and then moving on out from there -- she could do that! However, Alanna.. didn't exactly want to touch the other girl's stuff, so instead loomed in the doorway, looking over the scene with a touch of hidden curiousity.
Nnnn..
"Well, let me know what you need me to do..."

Stuffing her belongings into the bags with efficient speed, Rinfala soon stepped back to eye her handiwork. "That should be it. If you can carry what you can, I should be able to come back for anything else." After all, she didn't have that much stuff. Candidates didn't get many spare marks for trinkets, and most of hers had gone for a certain flit egg. Thankfully she'd made nearly a mark off of that betting...dragging her mind away from that train of thought before it led to one that would almost certainly distress Arioth, she cautiously made her way to the warm sandbox containing nine of the ten eggs (one having been given to S'van already). "We're bringing this to a nice place, okay Shim? Less people." Faranth, please let Aeron be busy. She didn't want to be in the middle of a 'lizard firefight.
With a cheerful chirp, Shim made no objection, but neither did she move from her place half-buried in the warm sand. Hers could carry her too, so that her little ones would be safe. How a small creature like Shim would keep nearly a dozen eggs from falling if Rinfala's grip failed was beyond comprehension, but in any case she felt the clutch was safer with her staying right there.
With a fidget of impatience, Arioth huffed out a long breath between her nostrils. She was tired and cranky and she wanted a nap again, despite the fact she hadn't been awake all that long. In her defense, she was an hours-old dragonet, and struggling out of that egg in a vain bid to emerge before her brown brother had wearied her immensely. Let's get this done Mine, I want to sleep.
"Like you weren't sleeping a candlemark or two ago," Rin snorted, hefting the sandbox in both arms. With the added burden of the firelizard's weight, it was rather heavy, and she started walking for the barracks. Hopefully Alanna would understand, because she really wanted to get this thing to the weyrling barracks before her arms got tired enough to drop it.
