Terisa sighed, happy that she had at least gotten a chore slightly more fitted to her limited skills.... Well, not so much her skills, as a chore that avoided her weaknesses. Carrying papers to the records room and filing them was something that seemed simple enough. And even if she did drop a paper or two occasionally, it was easy to pick them back up and secure them with the others once again. And she rather liked sitting in the musty records room and putting the papers where they needed to go. If she wasn't so in love with weaving, it was certainly possible she would have been swept off into the Archivist crafthall.... But no, weaving was still better than filing, but since there didn't seem to be many candidate chores associated with weaving or even hauling yarn, filing would just have to do.

As she was passing through one of the busier walking areas, Terisa felt a tickle raise in her throat, and, knowing that it was important to be careful during this outbreak of sickness, she shifted the stack of papers to one arm and covered her mouth as she coughed, trying to relieve the irritation. Unluckily for her, she had gotten herself into a position quite susceptible to being bumped, and it wasn't long before contact at her elbow with a passing dragonrider caused her entire load of papers to spill to the ground. "Shards!" One or two papers falling was easy enough to fix, but getting all of these back up and in some sort of order was going to be a pain! Kneeling quickly, she started gathering the pile that was closest to hand, and then she would have to go after the individual pieces that had escaped the group. Hopefully no one stepped on them in the mean time....

He had been rather lost in thought until he actually knocked into her, and by then it was a little late. "Oh shells, I'm sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going!" Oh dear; papers everywhere. C'mor stooped to help gather them up, feeling like a complete idiot as he did so.

"You should be watching where you walk Mine, not talking to me," Naedreth chided, amusement clear in his mental voice.

"Thanks for the advice," C'mor responded with a wry grin, "I'll keep that in mind." Having gathered up most of the papers, he straightened up and gave the girl who had been carrying them an apologetic grin. "Sorry, I should be paying more attention to my surroundings, and less to what Naedreth has to say. I'm C'mor, nice to meet you... Err... can I help you sort these out again? Looks like I've made a real mess of them." He hadn't felt this silly in ages, and Naedreth apparently thought it was funny. Gilden, who had just swooped over a bookcase, chattered her agreement. She wasn't quite sure what was funny, but the big bronze thought something was, and she shared in his enjoyment as she came to alight on C'mor's shoulder; silly thing, what had he done?

Terisa vaguely heard someone apologize for running into her, but all in all, it seemed rather irrelevant to her mind compared with all the papers she needed to recover before they got ruined, since otherwise she would have some long hours recopying them.... Her attention was grabbed, however, when her efforts were cut in half by the assistance of the very rider who had run into her. Well that was kind of him! He had a bit of an odd smile on his face, but by the far off look, Terisa took that to mean that his dragon had said something to amuse him. Though the weaver girl was never one to discount her own mishap as the cause of an accident, that might have been why the two had collided.

"Sorry, I should be paying more attention to my surroundings, and less to what Naedreth has to say."

Yup, apparently Terisa was getting better at spotting that distracted look. Shaking her head a bit though, the girl said, "N-no, I'm sorry, I w-wasn't looking either." The flash of a flit caught the girl's attention, but then she pulled her mind back to the conversation, smiling a bit at the introduction, "Nice to meet you too, I'm Terisa...." Looking to the unruly pile in her hand, the girl nodded, not so much as an answer to his offer of assistance, but more to the acknowledgement that the papers were in a mess. Her dark eyes traveled to a free table near by them, and she crossed there to set them down and getting a better assessment of the task, "Well, it's really not a big deal if you have somewhere you have to be...." But in reality, it would take her a bit of time to get the records in order again, so if he pushed it, the black-haired girl found it unlikely that she would refuse his help. Though she still felt responsible for the spill, it would be nice to have company for the chore.

C'mor smiled. "Terisa, no problem, like I say it was my fault too. I'd be happy to help, I was only going to go and make a fuss of Naedreth, but seen as he distracted me and helped make this mess he can wait a while. I know this place like the back of my hand" he added with a grin as he headed over to a free table and set the stack down, "So once they're all back in order I can probably find where they go pretty quickly for you." Perhaps she knew the place well herself and he'd just missed her or not noticed her before, with so many people coming and going these days it was quite possible.

"What are these on by the way?" he asked, not yet looking closely at the writing in case any of the papers were private. He doubted they were, but it seemed polite to let her tell him rather than prying; he'd already run into her, he didn't need to go pawing through her things as well.

Smiling a bit shyly at the weyrling, the weaver girl nodded, grateful for the help and the friendly demeanor. She was a bit surprised that helping her somehow ranked above pampering his dragon, but she wasn't going to question him any further about it. She really was trying to think about what she said so as not to make people feel as awkward around her.... Stopping her stuttering would probably help that as well, but that was a bit harder for the poor girl to control.

"So once they're all back in order I can probably find where they go pretty quickly for you." Looking up at the rider with surprised eyes, she nodded again, "Sure, that'd be g-great. This is my first time in the records room actually...." Terisa felt a bit dumb admitting that, but the truth was that she spent all of her extra time weaving and really didn't have much interest in looking through old scrolls. Sure, there were certainly records on weaving in the room as well, but finding them would be difficult since she didn't know her way around, and there was no guarantee that they'd be helpful, or worse, that'd she'd understand them....

As her fingers started flipping through the pile, trying to straighten the pages out so that they're numerical markings were all in the same general are, the boy's question met her ears, "Oh, I don't know actually.... The headwoman just assigned me to assist one of the visiting Archivists by bringing back his scrolls...." Thinking about it, it actually seemed rather odd that he didn't just do his work in the records room, but what did she know about archiving anyway. Becoming curious herself over what the papers held, she glanced at the sheet she had been holding and read about some event that had happened during the last Pass. "It l-looks like historical stuff...."

C'mor nodded and smoothed out one of the parchment sheets. Yes, old records on the Thread, notable falls, notable deeds done by riders, errors made, all that sort of thing. The sort of thing he could happily lose himself in for candlemarks at a time if he wasn't careful. The young rider grinned and shook himself, setting about fixing the order of pages rather than reading them top to bottom.

"Interesting stuff, if you like sitting with your nose in the past," he said with a smile and a shake of his head. "Hanging around the record rooms definitely isn't for everyone. It's all a bit duty and dry in here, all full of what has been, and fiddly details on everything the different kinds of oil you can use on a dragon to the recipes of various medicines." If you didn't have a mind suited to it, this place probably seemed boring and dead. He of course was one of those odd few who just loved to soak up knowledge like a big sponge, especially if it had to do with dragons.

"How long ave you been here at the Weyr?" he asked as he set three pages he had manage to order aside and searched for the ones that came before and after. "Everything's so crowded these days I don't notice when new folk arrive I'm afraid."

Terisa smiled, not being terribly interested in history herself, but she did still like the records room. "Oh, well I d-don't mind the d-dust too much. The weaver hall was just as b-bad with all the cloth and yarn...." She smiled, memories of sitting in the storage rooms and looking at all the freshly made spools of yarn, going through the new dyes to see if there were any colors she hadn't used before. While at times it still made her sneeze, it was always worth it.

Trying to focus on finding dates and other numbers on the pages to help her put her small stack in order, she looked up once more at the weyrling's question. She furrowed her brow for a moment as she thought back on it, "A-Almost half a Turn now...." She tried to remember what season it had been when she had left the weaverhall, but it was confusing since everything had happened so fast. But yes, it had been just as the cold season was setting in. She shook her head at his half apology, "Oh, d-don't worry about it, c-candidates come and go all the time." She smiled again, hoping that she wouldn't be asked to leave any time soon. She knew that she had stood through several hatchings already, but hopefully she would impress before she grew too old to stand. Now that she had experience Weyr life, she didn't feel all that inclined to go back to the weaverhall....

C'mor smiled and shrugged, managing to get a few more pages in order. "That's true, but I like to know vaguely who's who. There's too many people now for that to really be practical but still, I like to try. It's not nice when nobody knows you, right?" From his shoulder, Gilden cheeped her agreement; it didn't matter that she didn't understand fully what he was thinking about, she agreed with him. Besides, it was something about being lonely and that was not nice, she didn't like to be away from him for too long even when he did come in here to stare at parchment for ages.

"I've always lived here, weyrbrat" he went on: Terisa seemed a little shy adding more to talk about was probably the best bet. "In a lot of ways I'm glad to have grown up here, always having known dragons, and the more relaxed nature of a Weyr but I'm always curious about what it's like in Holds and Halls. Only ever been to Holds for gathers, so that kind of way of life is hard for me to imagine." Any way of life save the one he led now was come to that. Naedreth had changed everything; he'd known dragons did that of course, but experiencing that was very different ti just knowing.

Terisa smiled a bit and nodded, laughing as the little flit added her opinion as well. Her hands were still absently straightening pages, and for the most part her eyes were still skimming the tops of them and putting dates in the correct order, but her focus was mostly in C'mor's direction and her ears were listening closely to his words. She liked talking to people once she got past the terrifying stage of trying to find out if they wanted to talk to her as well. Her shyness was mostly due to fear of rejection, but once that got swept out of the way by someone's friendliness, she generally did all right. She certainly was rarely overly talkative, except when weaving was the topic, but not stuttering every word was certainly an improvement to be noted.

She nodded as he answered her returned question, grateful that he continued on after that remark. It was much easier for her to straighten papers and actively listen, with the occasional prompting question thrown in. "Yes, growing up around dragons must have been wonderful." A slightly dreamy look came over Terisa's features as she looked up from the stack she had been organizing, and then laughed at the mention of being curious about hold life, "It's really nothing all that special, I p-promise. P-pretty much the same chores as weyrbrats, but without the excitement of d-dragons."

C'mor chuckled softly and shook his head. "Well, sounds like I got lucky then. Coming here for the first time when you're old enough to know about it must be pretty amazing, intimidating too. The dragons must seem huge up close, but it's not really something I notice... Well, I do, but it's sort of every day." It was things like that which could cause subtle friction when it came to diplomatic matters he supposed. As a long time resident of the Weyr, there were some things you just didn't think of, though of course it was the weyrwoman's job to do so. Not that he really believed she knew how to do her job anymore. What was she playing at?

"How's the crowding?" he asked after a moment, now that such matters were on his mind. "I here things are getting to breaking point for candidates. They were bad enough when I was one... not that that was so long ago, a bit more than half a turn I suppose, but more people seem to come in every day. I'm amazed you all have places to sleep to be honest." Some of them, he suspected, didn't, or at least not proper places. Candidate alcoves had never been meant for sharing, but two or three had been sharing when he'd become a weyrling, were they trying to cram in four now? And the bating rooms, those must be getting pretty awful, though at least there were plenty of people to clean them up every day.
