http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/16842So they're going to do it. They are making a fourth movie. Sadly I liked the first movie, the second wasn't so bad, the third was okay until the end. I hated the ending. I felt it left this tired film franchise open for yet another crappy movie. I'll still watch it to see what happens. I'm pathetic like that. I probably won't like it, but I'll keep my fingers crossed. I won't go to the theatre to see it, I'll most likely rent it when it comes out on dvd. I am slightly disappointed by this news.

The first was good, and the third was a decent enough time. The easy answer to "why", though, is because people will pay to watch it. :p

. . . I've only seen Extinction, but I knew the plotline. I'll watch a movie with this caliber only because I want to see a chick killing stuff. Strange story, true, but that's a gamer's paradise.

According to Wikipedia:
On July 23, 2009, ShockTillYouDrop.com talked exclusively to Paul W.S. Anderson, who revealed that Resident Evil: Afterlife will be released in 3D and will kick off a new trilogy.
Anderson, who will write and direct, told us that the fourth film in the franchise will have the largest budget of all the films so far. "I always envisioned Resident Evil as a trilogy of films," he said. "And we've been very lucky where it's a trilogy where the audience has built and built. I wanted to kick off a brand new trilogy. I'm really excited we're doing it [in 3-D] and we're using the same camera system [James] Cameron used for Avatar. There are a lot of exciting things about this one. I don't regard it as Resident Evil 4, I regard it as a re-tooling and rebirth of the entire franchise."
3-D! Why?!?

3-D! Why?!? . . . To make you ask questions. I didn't like the 3D experiences for which I paid the extra $2. They were kind of lame and the last time I enjoyed a movie with those glasses was when I was in grade school. confused

The first movie was good because it could have feasibly happened side by side with the first game as far as story goes. Instead of being a reimagining of the first game it was a simple "side story". This is confirmed as being what happened in the second movie with the presence of Jill Valentine and her saying things such as "I told you this would happen".
The second movie was.... Bad.... It was a lot of God Moding and bad acting.
The third movie was a complete bastardization. ******** that movie.
All three movies were written and directed by different people.
Guh.

The first movie ROCKED. I remember being 11 and watching it alone in my dark bedroom.
The second one I was all hyped up for. The first I heard of it was a flash game on a website that rocked a**. When I saw it, it wasnt as good as the first, but it had a relation to the game at least until the end anyway.
The third one sucked monkey balls. I disliked the idea of an all powerful warrior chick, there were enough of those already and it was so predictable thats it was just boring

I liked the third one. Civilization is collapsed and most of the world is now a desolate wasteland filled with zombies. How come whenever they finally make a movie like that, everyone hates it? But the ones where humans have triumphed and the zombies are gone, people love them? Sorry guys, when zombies attack, humans are done for. Accept it an move on.
The first one was good until I saw it 328975098 times. The second one made me sad because RE2 was my favorite of the games. I'll probably go see the fourth with my boyfriend. He hadn't seen any of them until he met me with my zombie lovin' ways.

Like I said, I didn't mind the third one until they brought the cheesy ending upon us. I liked how the second one ended, along with the first. But that third ending had me screaming at the screen. Of course I own all three movies, so I can't say too much.

Same here in a way. But probably not in the same sense as you. wink Mine's more like "Finally, a chick that kicks a**!". Women don't always get the credit they deserve.
I'm not a feminazi. Don't worry. I lived with one for a couple years. They're kind of scary. eek

Suddenly zombies kill trees and water? The natural progression of the RE timeline is realistic. And the third movie didn't even stick to it.
