So now she trotted along, cautious as a curious pup could manage, to the ends of the mangrove swamp. She hadn't seen another wolf since her parents had disappeared, and while she had randomly glimpsed other animals, the only live contact she had had was the creature who called himself Ghede.
The creature.... she had no name for him, other than the one he had given. She didn't have a name for the concept of one who walked on two legs, and had those long gangly... forelegs? And he spoke to her through their thoughts. Simple words, names, and emotions were all she could manage to understand for now, but the feeling she was getting the hang of now, was that she would get much better at this thing.
For now, though, she decided she wouldn't dwell on it. It only made her head hurt, and he wasn't awake to practice with her anyway. Today, she would explore around her new home, maybe even attempt to find something to hunt... though she hadn't been properly taught before she suddenly became an orphan.

Oberon moved constantly, the wolf was moved by the ebb and flow of life around him and he often found himself traveling near those who had just given birth and away from where the elderly readied to see their lives come to a close. His power was great but he had never abused it instead he was pleased to observe and remain distant. It was lonely but the fear that a wolf or a group of wolves might become eager to use his powers for ill intent kept him solitary.
Today the sun was slowly setting and he was enjoying the warmth, he disliked winter and its cold grasp. His ears perked and he twisted slightly at the sound of small paws, not squirrel paws or rabbit paws...but those of a youngling of his own species. He strained and listened for a long moment, the pup was alone...the pull of young life was too much and if it was an orphan it was his duty to ensure the pup could survive alone. He moved to intercept it's path his eyes gleaming with open curiosity. How long had it been since he had spoken to another of his kind? Too long...

As the wolf continued along, she suddenly felt her curiosity double over to an almost painful level. She paused momentarily, trying to gather herself. Had the creature awoken and followed her? She wasn't fully capable of understanding how this power worked yet - so far she only knew that she and the creature could sit together and somehow communicate.
She was once again struggling with her fight-or-flight instincts, but as she scented the air, she realized that things might possibly not be as bad as she was ready to believe. She padded along again, slower this time. "Hey?" she ventured out, wondering if the thing she picked up on was friendly or not.

Oberon moved into the pups path and smiled his golden eyes taking in the smaller wolf, she was healthy and he could feel the subtle slide of power from being in close proximity. He sat down trying to force himself to the pups size not wanting to frighten her.
"Hello..." His voice was gentle but deep, slowly his gaze flicked to the flower against her ear. "Thats pretty..."

Ahah! The pup stopped in her tracks, staring at the great wolf before her. She knew there was something distinctly alive going on near her, and here it was. She cocked her head as he spoke. It was strange, now, to hear speech that she could hear with her ears and understand right away.
She smiled as he noticed and commented on her flower. The creature had given it to her, and it had managed to stay firmly planted behind her ear since then. At first she had been worried that she would lose it, or it would wilt and become trash... but it was still as perfect as the day the creature had taken it from the earthen jar and given it to her.
"Thank you." she managed, sincerely. It was not just her only possession, but her favorite. As she looked him over, she noticed that he too was adorned in all sorts of interesting things. Vines and what looked like bone. It reminded her of her creature, in a way. "My name is..." she paused, and then, remembering the creatures misunderstanding, decided upon it, "Shiva." she smiled, sitting herself down.

"Shiva, that is very pretty...I am Oberon." He dipped his muzzle and smiled before glancing around.
"I wanted to meet you, I was worried you were alone...you are rather young to be out all alone you know..." His golden eyes remained focused on the pup, there was something about her he couldn't quite pinpoint. Her flow of life was gentle a sweeping wave to his power and he enjoyed basking in it. It was hard staying away from his own kind, never having a chance to converse. He loved the way pups spoke, so openly their minds not yet tainted by the world around them.

She dipped her muzzle in return, not knowing what else to do. "It's wonderful to meet you, Oberon." she kept her smile and let her tail flip against the ground, rustling the leaves softly.
He wanted to meet her? How.. ? She resisted the urge to glance around nervously. Did he have the same affliction as she and Ghede? Suddenly no longer sidetracked, she focused on him again. "I'm fine, really," she confided. "I have someone to watch over me." she smiled again, nervous still about how he found her.
"Where are you from?" she asked suddenly, wondering where he had come from.

She had someone to watch over her? How curious he inhaled again and blinked his golden eyes focusing on her intently. Indeed she carried the faint scent of two leggers. Was a two legged hoo-man caring for this little pup? Or perhaps a tribe like those he had spotted drawn by their life and respect for nature? How very interesting he smiled and slowly relaxed, the pup seemed in good care then.
"You are treated well? That is good, so many of us are alone in the world you are lucky to have someone to rely on." His voice was gentle but there was the undertone of pain, the type of pain that came from knowing the cruelties of the world.
"I am from nowhere, and everywhere..." He chuckled. "I call no place home, yet all the world is my abode. I travel with the seasons you see, I never can quite bring myself to settle with any pack..."

She listened, ears fully trained on the older wolf as he spoke. He was an interesting one. She nodded as he trailed off. She could feel his pain, and wanted to cry but did her best to hold it in. She was too young for this. Too weak in her talent to block things out.
"I am." she agreed, that she was treated well. "One day I'll travel... I'll see the whole world!" she exclaimed, suddenly excited over the prospect. The pup hopped to her feet and whirled about playfully. For a second, she thought that it would be nice to have siblings to play with... or proper parents, for that matter - but she didn't break her playful stance, and her tail wagged lazily in the breeze.

"Then I am certain someday we shall cross paths again, it will be a pleasure." He smiled and chuckled a wave of the pups vital life flowing out to him. How pleasing it would be if he could settle in a place, in a pack where life flourished. Yet he had grown used to the solitary life, used to it but not pleased with it. Always the desire for companionship was there.
"The world is such a great big place a beautiful and dangerous place, you must keep up your health and learn to pay attention to everything around you." He offered the simple advice and hoped that the long line of life he saw stretching before her was not cut short by cruel fate.

She smiled right back at him, stretching out with a little shiver. "Someday, then!" she liked the thought of meeting someone again someday. It was exciting to hear about the world. She had seen so little of it, but now she was determined to see all there was to see... someday. She still had a lot of growing up to do, and if nothing else, she realized that fact.
"Yes" she mused that it would be easy to pay attention to everything around her, unless she grew lazy and overconfident in her ability. "It will be wonderful to see new things. Not that it's terrible or boring here, but I get bored easily." she confided, smiling.

"Where would you like to go? The sea? The mountains? The desert?" Oberon had always been curious what the desert was like, but the lack of abundance in life had always made him shy away from the area. He always seemed to follow the land as it was most heavily populated.
"If your bored easily you must work to challenge yourself everyday." He smiled and watched the pup she was so eager and he hoped that she would grow with the same confidence she exhibited already.

The young pup thought about things for a moment before deciding on an answer. She had been in the forests for all of her short life, and it would be exciting to see any of those places mentioned.
She figured that since she could almost smell the salt on the air, that it would be easy to visit the ocean first, and said as much. "I'd love to visit them all... but the ocean can't be far from here. Starting there seems the best course of action." she said with a grin. From there, who knows? The lay of the land would dictate where she went next, she guessed.
"What all have you seen?" she asked, hoping for some real-life experience. She had only been alive for this summer season, and hadn't been taught anything much before her parents had up and disappeared. She was eager to learn anything that wasn't her basic instinct.

"The ocean is full of all sorts of new life that we don't have here on dryer land. And wonderful new food like fish and crabs." He smiled and looked back at her his golden eyes sparkling with joy from the memory.
"Well I've seen a little of everything, the mountains and snow, the ocean and sands, there are deep valleys, and meadows. It's amazing to learn what creatures live where and how...I've never managed to get into the desert, the heat is unbearable...I know of no wolves who have traveled into those lands."

She smiled at the thought of new food sources. She knew what crabs were - there were small mud crabs that hung around Ghede's den and other little shelled animals the human had called Mudbugs, and she briefly wondered if the crabs that lived near the ocean were the same as what lived in the muddy root-infested river that they lived on.
Snow? With a flash, there was an image of the land covered in white powder, softer than the earth itself and wet. She shook her head momentarily, not knowing where that pseudo-memory had come from. Another strange occurance that she would ask Ghede about later that night.
"I'll see it all." she confirmed, with a shy smile.
