Yeah, you used to never see them and they're really popular right now. So pretty. Maybe she'll change back?

Wow... I've never seen a fish do anything like that before. I once had a scooter blenny that sort of changed colors, but nothing that dramatic!

Is she your mommy betta or a different one? Because if she is, maybe some of the babies will have her old coloring.

shes a different betta. not a mommy yet. she is too small for me to try and breed her. the males are way bigger and im afraid they would seriously hurt her.
the mommy betta is actually white and has stayed looking the same since i got her (yay) XD
oh i call them scooter dragonets razz hehe they are cute!

Whoa, that is really extreem. I had something similar happen with a female too, but not that extreem. She was a basic blue/red veiltail to begin with, but after I found her on the floor one morning nearly dried up she bacame pure black with a hint of purple in her fins. I always thought it was due to the damage of being out of the water for so long. She also lost sight in the eye she was laying on. It turned murkey white.
But your little one doesn't look hurt, so maybe it's stress? Is she being bullied? Or maybe she became a bully? I remember Cleo (the injured betta) being very agressive after her injuries.

Nope. No stress no bullying (on either end) she's healthy and happy. But she was one of the smallest betta I ever brought and as they age they of cours change color. I think she was white because she was young and stressed in that cup at the store. Now that she is growing and has better conditions she is showing her true colors

How long has she been in the environment she is currently living in?
Also, are the stripes horizontal or vertical ?

I really wonder what causes the color change, especially since it doesn't seem to be an isolated case. Maybe a huge difference in water parameters? (store vs home tank) Or do they adjust to the colors of their enviourment, or other fish?
