 Naoki wasn't enjoying the summer's heat and was spending most of his time by the water. He was laying in the shade near the shore and was pondering going in for a swim. It was quite an inviting thought.
Sighing he stood up and slowly walked up to the water. He put his paws in the water and relaxed at the refreshing coolness. He dipped his head taking a drink. He wasn't quite up for a swim but just getting his paws wet was enough.

 Noaki wasn't the only Helix with such ideas. Usually Shula spent this time of day napping, preparing for her daily hunt, but today... it was too hot to sleep. Instead, she wound her way down to the river, snapping at those insects that dared to buzz to close to her, feeling slightly irritable because of the mugginess of the jungle. "I love my home, I love my home." she murmured to herself, trying not to think longingly of a journey to the slightly cooler lands north of here.
As she neared the river, a strange new scent caught her nose, causing her to slow. It smelled like... like... she paused completely and sniffed the air again, curious. It was. A male Helix. How peculiar. She usually didn't come across anyone in this area. He too must be seeking relief from the heat, she decided, caution now in her movements as she started forward again. When he came into view, she paused once more, examining him carefully with intelligent eyes. "Hello."

A normal Helix would have jumped at the suddenness of a voice but Naoki merely turned his head to look at the female. He wasn't easily started. "Hello." He said regarding her, "I'm Naoki. Who might you be?" Her fur was quite beautiful with the blue markings on her face and legs. He wondered if she was here trying to escape the heat but wouldn't ask.

She stood proudly, tossing her head. "I am Shula. It is... pleasant to meet you, Naoki." she told him, giving him a tiny wolf's grin. Then she came closer to the water, moving to stand in it so it covered her paws, and gave a sigh of relief. "Ahhh... that's nice." she murmured softly. "It's too hot today, even in the shade. Don't you think?"

Naoki nodded. "Yes it is a pleasure to meet you Shula." He said moving a little deeper into the water, "Yes today is a really hot day.... This was the only way I could think of to cool down." He took another drink of the water before just laying down in it. He rolled around before standing up. His wet fur dripped but it had cooled him down.
