Humph! What a frustrating afternoon.

Madoa Waya had wandered quite far from her home, paying no attention to exactly how far she was going except that she knew she was going in the 'right direction'. Of course, then it turned out not to be the right direction. It had taken up much of Maddie's afternoon to realize it and she was feeling rather disappointed. Rather than jogging along energetically as she usually did, she was sitting and looking out around her. She didn't have a whole lot to think about except where she went wrong this time and how to change that for next time.. which was more normal for her. Still, she was taking more time to think about it this time.

"Hmmm," she hummed quietly, looking back along the route she taken to where she was now.

Finally, officially leaving his home was odd. It was actually petrifying. No sibilings, no parents. Nothing.

His journey didn't lead him too far. He had no idea where he was going, but a slow pace took him into the Ela'wadiyi lands. Feeling just a slight breeze that ruffled his mane, he continued on his leasurely pace, his brown eyes scanning the horizon with mild curiosity.

Wait. What....what was that?

Against the brown foliage, there was a burst of colour. Just one colour, but it stuck out in such a fashion he was drawn to it. The red colour was stationary, but still he picked up his pace just a bit. A leasurely walk wasn't going to get him there fast enough to satisfy his curiousity. He certainly wasn't being very quiet, either.

Maddie rarely noticed someone that was right in front of her but part of her was stilling hanging on to the idea that maybe she didn't lose track of what she was looking for.. and the sound of someone walking closer was enough to make her turn her head and take a look. The astonishing lack of color was enough to make her turn back quickly, until she realized just how plain the lion she saw was. She didn't always seem like she was paying attention but you'd have to be really out there not to realize that everybody had tattooing. Various degrees, certainly, but it was still everybody. With a blink, she turned again.

"Hello," she called, getting to her feet. A first- she was addressing a stranger directly and doing it before they addressed (and then yelled at) her.

The first thing he noticed were her eyes; the colour of rain clouds that renewed the earth. The way she carried her light frame; so gentle. And that voice; it was something that would sound normal to anyone else, but as beautiful as the sun's glimmer on the surface of water.

"Wow."

He has paused for a moment, taking it in. Foolishly he shook his head to jolt himself out of his daze, knowing that he needed to say something, anything.

"H-hi." Yeah, that would work wonders.

His eyes traced up and down the layering of tattoos, their meanings unknown to him, but still just as incredible as the horizon when the sun set.

Pulling his eyes away for just a moment, he couldn't resist asking. "Those marks...they're incredible."

Having had a limited number of social interactions outside of her family, Maddie had little to no concept of what was usual conversation manner and little concern over any unusual behavior. He had her attention, truthfully he was already off to a great start.

"Hi," she repeated, a bit more cheerfully, noticing the stammer and the odd look but not thinking much about it. She smiled when he commented on her tattoos, or that's what she assumed he meant.

"Thanks, though I can't really take much credit for them, but then I guess it was my life," Maddie commented thoughtfully, before questioning the stranger, "You mustn't be from around here. Or are you new?" Everybody did get tattoos, right? He could just be really, really new.

"Your...life?" He didn't get it. Perhaps she was just commenting on her younger days. Did the marks have something to do with that? His brown eyes scanned them again, but still nothing really came to him. Just the odd sensation off feeling not quite flat on your feet. Dizzying.

He shook his head softly, his eyes wandering just a biiiit further. "No, I'm not new. I actually don't even know where I am. I just left home. And...well, you're the first thing I've seen outside of them. It's..." his voice dropped. "Incredible."

Uh ohhhh. Too bad the poor boy didn't have someone to give him a good kick in the shins. Or whatever the lion-equivilant would be.

Maddie blinked at him, a couple times, before tilting her head and smiling. She didn't seem terribly bothered by the staring, especially since he didn't quite seem to get it.

"Oh, well, the markings are all about me," she explained, though vaguely, "Everybody has them in the pride here, you're in the Ela'wadiyi lands." The lioness took a quick look around, then turned back to Sado with a nod. She was positive they were still somewhere in the lands. Spotting something in the corner of her eye, Maddie turned her head again, looking intently into the distance. Her expression became curious, almost suspicious, and she glanced around again.. but she didn't move or say anything else.

He cocked his head to the side, curious on what she meant. Markings all around? Continuing to listen, he let his own eyes wander around a bit, but he couldn't see anyone else. Unless they were really good at hiding, he figured that they were alone.

He couldn't help but stare at her as she looked around. He felt...breathless. So much so that it was almost revolting. Why hadn't his mother ever told him about this? Oh, right. She never was the sort to speak about emotions. Just about the cold facts of life.

"It's beautiful," he said smiling at her, then promptly looking around. "Umm," he flushed. "T-the lands, I mean. It's beautiful out here."

He watched her with confusion flickering across his face. Had she seen something he hadn't? Would he...be in trouble, speaking to her like this? What if she was some important figure, and he was speaking to her so calmly? Panicked thoughts raced across his mind as he breathed slowly, trying to calm himself. No need to get so worried.

Maddie's eyes did not come back to Sado for a few moments, instead she looked off into the distance tensely, her eyes moving slowly and carefully as if she were watching for something. Soon she blinked her eyes a couple times and looked back to Sado.

"What?" she asked, tilting her head a bit-- then realizing what he'd said, smiling a bit, "Oh, yeah. I think that's why it likes it here.." Whatever she was talking about was unclear, but it sent her eyes on another quick search around them. It was very beautiful, especially those certain flowers she had found out here-- where she had met Antigone, not that she seemed to recall that meeting.

"So, where are you from?" she looked back to Sado curiously, part of her wondering if there might be any useful information to be found in a chat about his home.

Sado was still curious about what she was looking at. He couldn't see anything with his own eyes, but perhaps it was because he was unfamiliar with the land around them. She was probably noticing something that he wouldn't be able to see, at least without it not being pointed out at her.

He waited for a moment, and she seemed to come back to him, attention wise. Very pleased, he offered her a smile. "I'm from the Pridelands. It's actually not too far from here, but it almost feels like I'm so far away. You seem....so different. And yet so beautiful."

....s**t. Whoops. That's what he gets for having such a loose tongue. Hopefully she wouldn't just storm off on him for being so blunt.

The Pridelands?

She looked around curiously, half expecting to find something that clearly labeled one certain direction as the direction to go for.. wherever it was that he was from. Maddie had never heard of it, or hadn't paid attention when she did, and so the 'pridelands' was a rather plan, unusual name in her mind. Maybe it wasn't as close as he implied, or maybe she was just being silly.

Her attention snapped back to Sado when he called her (or was it all of them? She couldn't tell) different and beautiful. Whatever he was talking about, she could appreciate it. Suddenly she was smiling.

"Different how?" she asked, focusing on the more interesting of the comments.

He flushed when she had seemed to give him all of her attention. W-wow. He wasn't expecting that! He paused for a moment, a little too drawn in, like how all guys are when they meet the one. Or, well, when they think they do anyway.

Wanting to kick himself, he quickly gathered himself up, feeling tense. Hopefully he wouldn't screw up! So far, so good.

"W-well," he started off, a little shakily. "The markings on your body just drag me in. I'm looking at things that are intriguing...like the spots. And the swirls just drag my eye around...." oh crap, he really needed to move to the next subject. "B-but the background, with the mountains, and the clouds in the sky. Tips of white for snow on those mountains against the blue sky. It's really very n-nice."

Don'tlookdon'tlookdon'tlook.

Maddie's ears flicked back a couple times, she was fighting the urge to look around and allow herself some distraction.. something she always did before, but she was having a bad day and was forcefully keeping herself from going about her day as she might normally have. She didn't quite fully appreciate the conversation she was having with Sado, though she was intent on seeing it through. She laughed quietly at the comment on the markings, again. He seemed very fond of them.

"Like I said, everybody gets them. I find it fascinating you don't have anything," she commented, actually taking the time to really examine the pattern on Sado. It wasn't hard, he was just brown with the one white paw. No, two white paws. He was almost like a gigantic cub, they didn't get so many tattoos right away.. but maybe it was best not to say that out loud. It took her a minute to realize she hadn't been saying anything out loud, having let herself get lost in her own thoughtful commentary.

She blinked, her bright smile reappearing quickly.

"The mountains are much more impressive closer up," she commented, looking around out at the mountains. It wasn't a favorite area of hers, not somewhere she went too often but it would be impossible not to notice them ever.

Sado somehow was able to let himself calm down a bit. He wasn't quite sure why, but...getting all flustered over an exotic girl wasn't going to help him out.

The tattoos must signify something important, and for her to be so covered in them must prove that she had gone through many events in her life. His uneducated eyes looked again, before resting on the far-away mountains that had turned to the subject of their coversation.

"Do you think you could show me the way?" he asked, surprising himself with how smoothly the question had emerged. To cover his embarassment, he quickly added on, "My homelands don't have anything like it, just a large stone in the center where the leader lives. It'd be interesting to see just how amazing they can be. I'm sure there's tons of interesting things to look at, too," he said with a warm smile offered to her. Oh please take the offer...or something similar. He wanted to know at least a little more about her.

She was getting anxious so she was happy to jump at the opportunity to go away from where they were now. When he asked to see the mountains, she nodded with enthusiasm.

"I'd like to show you," Maddie agreed in a cheerful voice, "I've only ever been one other place, it was in a jungle, by the shore. There were cliffs, so it was kind of like the mountains but you know, different." She wasn't very good with words, even she realized it, but it didn't bother her any. She didn't seem to worry about the rules, either, about rogues and visitors. Nothing in particular crossed her mind as she looked around them, trying to pick out the best mountain to go to.

"Let's see what we can find," she said, turning to face the random direction she had selected to go in.
