It was late afternoon, on a particularly warm day, and Addison was curled up not far from Riome's house. With a wide yawn, he slowly uncurled from his warm little ball, sitting up and rubbing an eye as he blinked tiredly. He hadn't meant to fall asleep, but he'd been so comfortable. And by the looks of it, Riome had gone out. He huffed, pouting slightly. That meant dinner was going to be later than usual. He sighed, sliding off the rock and landing on the ground with a light thump.

Mattie stumbled through the brush, looking around for her mother. She had seen her mother go through this path but she didn't see her mother around anywhere. The child frowned, tears starting to fill up her blue eyes.
"M-mama?" she squeaked hoarsely, still searching.

Addison looked up, surprised, when he heard Mattie's voice. He didn't know who's it was, exactly, but it was definitely familiar. And they sounded a little less than happy. Worried, he moved towards the sound of Mattie's voice, calling out warily, "Who's there?"

Mattie jumped at the voice and froze, "M-mama?" she whimpered wringing her fingers together. She looked towards the source of the voice and spotted something orange. Louder the centaur called again, "Mama! Mama!" she sniffed and rushed towards Addison.

Mattie came into sight, and Addison recoiled. This one was scared of him. He didn't want to frighten her more. He didn't know whether to slink away or not. He couldn't just leave her alone, but he didn't want to scare her, "Your...your mother's not here." He called out to her, "She might be with Dad."

Mattie stopped, eyes widening in fright. Her ears and tail flew up in alarm her small legs trembling. She was scared. Her mother had told her about this Naga. He was mean. He would eat little children just like her if she got too close.
And now she was going to get eaten and never see her mother again. Her nose scrunched up, tears spilling onto her cheeks as she started to bawl loudly and running back into the brush.

"Wait!" Addison cried out, sounding extremely distressed. He moved after her, but didn't want to seem like he was chasing, "Please, Matilda, I'm not going to hurt you!" He'd never done anything to deserve this! He made a frustrated noise, then stopped and tried to calm down. He didn't want to get angry...

Wiping her face messily, Mattie hid behind a large boulder as she continued to cry, not wanting to be eaten. Curling up into a little ball, she laid there, wishing her mother or Riome would come to save her.

Addison put his face in his hands, breathing in deeply as he got a bit of a lump in his throat. He sat down, still able to hear her, so he knew she hadn't run off and put herself in any danger. And Riome was on his way back, so Mattie would be saved soon.
"Mattie," he called out again, his voice shaking a little, "I'm not going to hurt you."

Mattie her cries were subsiding, sniffing she called out, "M-mama...?" she said again, peeking out from her position. She just wished that someone, anyone would come and save her from the Naga that was over there.

Addison looked over towards her, then got an idea. He bit his lip, and slid towards his house, grabbing a small cake, then hurrying back towards where Mattie had been, listening carefully to make sure she was still there.

Mattie continued to peek out, rubbing her face rather clumsily, as she continued to look around. There was no one here anymore! She crawled out of her hiding spot, not knowing where to run to. Mattie didn't realize that Addison was coming back.

Addison held the cake carefully, and saw her peak out. He gasped, and ducked out of sight. He wasn't entirely sure WHY he did it, but he didn't want her to run away before he could offer the treat.

Mattie continued to walk, not realizing that Addi was hiding somewhere behind her. Looking around, it was true. There was no one else in sight! Where could that monster could've gone to anyways?
Taking this as an opportunity to go back home and be safe, Mattie decided she should try and find her way home now.

It was now or never. He came out of hiding, about a yard infront of her, and held the cake with both hands. He looked about as scared as she did, his lower lip was even quivering a little. He really wanted her to like him...If everyone else was scared, that was ok, but Riome liked this little girl so much, Addison wanted to be her friend too.
