What I'll be doing is taking pictures of things that are common out here that might not be common elsewhere and sharing them through pictures with you =3
If you have a camera and would like to share interesting things and sights where you live, feel free to post.
So now... Here's my Oklahoma...
Random state facts...
-We're one of the few states that allow legal right turns at a red stoplight if it's clear.
-We have moody weather... the saying around here is 'If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes.
- Summers common from 85-110F and winters can go below freezing
-It's not uncommon for us to have snow in the early summer or blistering heat in the winter.
- We're one of the only states I know of you can find swamp, prairie land, forests, deserts, and mountains in.
- Rattle snakes and scorpions are common out here, but since they are dangerous, I won't hunt them for a closeup
-We are part of tornado alley, which means we have a handful of tornadoes that run through here every year. We even had a huge F5 (the largest tornado type) that hit here several years ago which the movie Twister was based on.
-We are also part of the 'Bible belt'... we have a record high of churches and religious people in our area... my my small town I can think of 13 churches in town off the top of my head.
I'm not sure how many of you have seen a cicada, but there's a lot out here. These come out of the ground after living in the ground for 7 years to shed their shell...

You can find these in trees, on widow screens, in bushes... almost anywhere in the summer. They shed these shells at night growing wings...

I've grown up around them my whole life, and was taught how to catch them. They like trees with a lot of sap, which they feast on the sugar. In the muggy evenings you can hear them chirping like so....

Open Farmland isn't uncommon... Almost every city here has room for farmland, and you can slip into and out of it in the blink of an eye. If I could, I'd go up North-West to the pan handle and show you where most of our farm land is.

Now I'm going to show you another summer bug we get... Bag worms! These guys group up and build bag like nests in the summer.

It's like a war with us to get rid of these fuzzy little guys because they eat on the trees.

This is something I know has surprised people who aren't local... This is Oklahoma red dirt. It's messy, it's a rusty red, it cakes on a car, and it's everywhere!

This has to be one of the best chain restaurants you won't find more then a day's drive from Oklahoma... This place is called Braums, and you can go there for a burger and fries, or what their known for... ice cream. Braums here owns a huge dairy, and all their stores sells the milk and milk products. I can guarantee, it's the best milk out there because it's farm fresh, they don't add water, and their cows grow naturally. This is something I insist if you ever see, stop at and try their dairy products if you can. You won't regret it!

Oil fields are common out here, and you often find farms like this...

Did you know that under the ground of the States there's a crossing of pipes that connects us all? This is a marking where that crossing sits.
